I've just been woken up by crampy pains. They're coming every 15 minutes or so, I'm getting niggles.in between too. Are there any 'tests' i can do to see if this is it? I've been up to the loo, no show, no waters etc. drank water and had a little walk around the upstairs. anything else I can try? just to make sure it's not my silly cervix just doing its thing etc. also if it helps I was a miserable irritated bitch all day and kept crying too. Thanks all :)

DD waited.

DSIL had been staying for a week hoping to be there for the birth, but had to go home for work.
It's a 3-4 hour drive from here to where she lives and by the time she got home, I was sitting on a hospital bed gazing at my new DD and having Brew and toast Grin

2 out my 3 arrived on their due date btw.

WandaDoff · 05/02/2015 09:59

I hope the reason you haven't come back to the thread Ravioli is because you are busy having a baby Smile

bagofsnakes · 05/02/2015 10:01

Wanda You're giving me hope!
Haven't felt much from baby this morning but then s/he isn't much of a morning mover. Just drinking some iced tonic water to see if I can get some movement but secretly hoping that it's a sign that s/he's settling down to prepare for the big move Smile

WandaDoff · 05/02/2015 10:20

Have you got stairs?
Try going up and down them sideways a few times, to get your pelvis moving that is meant to help.

Eating lots of fresh pineapple is meant to as well, there is an enzyme in it that gets things moving supposedly. It didn't work for me though, just made my mouth sore.
Or eating hot curry or having sex

There are all kinds of things you can try, but IME, the baby will come when it wants to and not before Smile

I think I'd try to have a nap or snuggle up for cuddles and stories etc with DS, get some rest while you still have the chance.

RavioliOnToast · 05/02/2015 19:35

hello ladies, sorry to.disappoint but I am still very much pregnant Sad had such a stressful day today hence my absence, DD was bitten full force on the stomach by a little at playgroup... I was so angry and emotional. My poor girl sobbed her heart out. We've had many a snuggle today and other than heavy cramping and intense pressure she remains very much in place, wbu bagofsnakes? any sign?

OP posts:
JugglingLife · 05/02/2015 20:11

Oh ravioli, your poor DS and poor you. Hopefully by the morning she will have forgotten all about it (you will still be seething of course). That biting phase is vile when you're dc is on the receiving end of it, even worse when your dc is the 'biter'. Is she all tucked up now?

JugglingLife · 05/02/2015 20:12

Meant DD!

RavioliOnToast · 05/02/2015 20:55

the mother didn't seem phased at all by it, barely told her son off. I would have been so apologetic I would have been mortified! She's been in bed since 7 Grin I have an excellent little sleeper! she'll be there flat out until half 7 tomorrow :D

Ravioli really sorry to hear about your day... and the fact that you are still very much pregnant.

I am also very much pregnant. Wanda, we do have stairs and while I've not been doing the whole sideway walking thing yet, I've been up and down them so many bloody times today that it must have done something!

The last things that I ordered online have arrived today and had the great news that DH is allowed to work from home until baby arrives. This is a massive relief for me as he works a good 1.5-2 hours away and I was worrying that he might miss the birth (DS was relatively quick for a first baby and so I've got it in my head that this one is just going to shoot out!). Hoping that baby will now take the hint that everything is very, very much ready and that it should get a bloody move on. Smile

JugglingLife · 05/02/2015 21:04

I'm crossing my fingers (again!) for both of you, tonight's the night.

GeekyHybrid · 06/02/2015 05:46

Can I gatecrash? And ask how you are both getting on?

I'm in almost the opposite position. Today is DD, woke up to the waters going in a gush but no cramps / contractions as yet Hmm So eating breakfast and trying to pass time. I'm not a patient person at the best of times....

JugglingLife · 06/02/2015 06:50

Hi Geeky, how exciting, are you an old hat at this or is it first time?

GeekyHybrid · 06/02/2015 07:32

FTM so definitely a bit ignorant! I've been on the Feb '15 ante-natal thread and trying to absorb as much info / advice as possible from the experienced mothers but I'm not sure anything really prepares you, and obviously it all happens differently for different people etc..

JugglingLife · 06/02/2015 07:35

I don't think you can really prepare for it, just keep calm and persevere with the gas and air, bloody marvellous stuff, any twinges yet?

RavioliOnToast · 06/02/2015 07:42

Ooh how exciting, any progression yet? I'm the same today, if anything I have even less cramp today than I have the last few days Hmm

I'm booked in for a sweep today but don't know whether to go ahead, I'm a bit scared to be honest Blush

OP posts:
JugglingLife · 06/02/2015 07:44

Ravioli! Go for the blooming sweep! You need to get this baby moving, stubborn little thing. Calm before the storm?

GeekyHybrid · 06/02/2015 07:53

Hard to tell if I'm having twinges or not! Sounds daft but I've been 'uncomfortable' all pregnancy, fairly sure I've got nothing you could call a contraction :-/ I'm hoping soon though.

Ravioli I don't know how you've been so patient. I reckon I've got until lunchtime before I start climbing the walls!! ;-D

RavioliOnToast · 06/02/2015 08:00

I wondered if it was true about the labour stopping when eldest was around, initially I'd put it down to that but now I'm not so sure as nothing kicked back off on the night when she wasn't around. I'm very impatient too, I have terrible fears this pregnancy though, my bmi was 35 at booking appt so I got shedloads of 'info' about how babies shoulder can get stuck and how I may not be able to have an active labour (as in walking around) cause I'll need to be monitored continuously, etc. I'm so nervous. I've barely gained weight this pregnancy and my bmi is only 38 now at the end of pregnancy so I haven't gained a lot of weight. think I've put around a stone on? I'm just such a fanny though and scared of this labour so much Sad

Are you going to the hospital geeky? ours says to ring as soon as waters go

OP posts:
JugglingLife · 06/02/2015 08:06

Ravioli, it's really normal to be scared and with DC2 you know what's coming. Every birth is different though and until you are there, you won't know what you are getting. If you are desperate for the end game, go for the sweep (I don't remember it being painful), if not, just leave it, you are in control.

GeekyHybrid · 06/02/2015 08:30

I did ring the midwives ravioli but as there's no contractions they advised I stayed at home and call the community midwife at 9am and that she'll probably pop around to check on me. Saying that I need to collect some lactulose from the surgery pharmacy anyway so may suggest I walk over there - it's only a 10 min walk, see if we can really get things going!

RavioliOnToast · 06/02/2015 08:38

this is true juggling, I honestly believe you forget it all when you hold them in your arms but once it's looming again by God does it all come flooding back haha. Ooh I'm excited for you geeky! I'm going to have the sweep. I think I'll see who I've got and how comfortable I feel with her first

OP posts:
JugglingLife · 06/02/2015 08:52

Good plan ravioli, do share all the details when you get back!

bagofsnakes · 06/02/2015 09:16

Geeky - I recognize your name from the Feb group but I've not kept up with it for a while. Very excited for you and I hope that today is the day and it all goes well - sounds like it is! Last time my waters didn't go until I was pushing DS out so I don't really know what it feels like, scared it's going to happen when I'm walking down the street!

I'm also feeling less crampy today but I turned down a sweep on Wednesday (why, why did I do that?) so it'll be next Wed before I have that option again.

I'm going to take DS to his playgroup this morning and hope the walk gets things going.

Keep us updated Geeky!

bagofsnakes · 06/02/2015 09:24

Ravioli sorry that you're really scared for this labour, sure that it'll be fine as it sounds like you've taken really good care of yourself. Maybe feeling fearful is holding your body back? Maybe read some positive birth stories? tellmeagoodbirthstory.com/ or watch a positive birth video?

This video is a really cute one to watch with your DD, you could have a nice chat about having babies with her. It's not graphic and has the mothers other children in it. I've used it lots with my DS to explain to him what's going to happen. It's such a straightforward birth that it alway makes me feel excited about the birth when I watch it.
