Well back in December 2010 some of you lovely lot really helped me along whilst in labour with DD2...

Today it's dc3 (gender unknown) due date...

So, although Im not having a planned home birth this time, I will still be labouring along with you lot, if you'll have me :)

have you called the midwife yet?

i think your DH might need to boil some towels and get the kettle out of the cupboard! Grin

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 23/08/2012 14:33

Getting longer now!

I would ring hospital just to let them know.

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/08/2012 14:34

Time to give them a call Grin

Mind, mine started at 3mins apart, 1min in length and it still took 24 hours (due to me taking a bath at 4cm and slowing the whole.process dow imo)

Hi OnlyWantsOne: Exciting timesSmile, if they are regular i would get going as subsequent babies can come pretty quick.
With dd4 my contractions were every 5 mins lasting 60secs each before i made my way to hosp, but my hospital is only 15 mins away so you will need to time them and go much sooner, say when they get very regular, every 10mins and are not showing no signs of fading.

Have a warm bath, take some parecetemol and see whether the contractions die down if they don't chances are you are in true labour.

Goodluck, hope you have you bag packed x

pumpkinsweetie · 23/08/2012 14:36

And phone them too so they know you are on your way x

pumpkinsweetie · 23/08/2012 14:38

Omg 2mins apart Shock you need to get going NOW Smile or get prepared for a homebirth

OnlyWantsOne · 23/08/2012 14:41

Phones hospital before they got close like this she said come in when ready

Am waiting for sister to come over to stay with kids

I'm still completely ok in between them but they hurt like fuck and I have to clap my hands or click my fingers through the

Feel sick

OP posts:
FalseStartered · 23/08/2012 14:47

aw, sounds like you're well into labour now

take some sips of water when you feel sick - it's important to keep your fluids up and if you're deep breathing you'll lose a lot that way

jaylee89 · 23/08/2012 14:47

FalseStartered · 23/08/2012 14:50

ice cubes is good one, got any ice lollies, OP?

OnlyWantsOne · 23/08/2012 14:50

I would very much like to get in the bath but I know I can't coz I won't get out

I'm making the right decision not going to MLC unit 5 mins down road aren't I?

They won't give me pethidine there and I NEED drugs

OP posts:
FalseStartered · 23/08/2012 14:51

you might be able to cope on G&A...

OnlyWantsOne · 23/08/2012 14:52

Is it normal to be ok in between them?

OP posts:
pumpkinsweetie · 23/08/2012 14:52

Hmmm i would go to the MLU, you are pretty close and they will have gas & air there. 50mins journey sounds like to far when your contractions are so close, you may not make it with this being your 3rd

FalseStartered · 23/08/2012 14:52

yes, completely

sounds like you are doing fine

GnocchiNineDoors · 23/08/2012 14:53

Yeah, ime totally normal. Even when very very late stages, I still felt relatively calm and pain free between cxns.

Oooh, the excitement!!

pumpkinsweetie · 23/08/2012 14:53

Yes its normal to feel fine inbetween

OnlyWantsOne · 23/08/2012 14:55

I'm scared of MLC unit as my community MW delivered dd2 last time was horrid I'm trying to avoid her but she will be called if I go there

It's only just opened this is 1st baby booked in there

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 23/08/2012 14:57

Um - 50 minutes away? It sounds like you're well into established labour and it's progressing quite fast, and a 50 minute drive will be hell for you, despite pethidine being at the end of it. Honestly, I'd go to the MLU nearby, at least there will be gas and air there. And you're less likely to give birth in the car Shock

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear. You're doing great though, honestly! And yes, it's completely normal to have no discomfort in between contractions.
