Well back in December 2010 some of you lovely lot really helped me along whilst in labour with DD2...

Today it's dc3 (gender unknown) due date...

So, although Im not having a planned home birth this time, I will still be labouring along with you lot, if you'll have me :)

Oh poor you! Are you still in hospital? Make sure the mws check your latch and slather on the lasinoh!

I love bitbewildered's name suggestion, Iris is a lovely name and would go perfectly with your other two.

yes, feeding does hurt!
and so will your bottom! Shock
you need to force yourself to move around a bit so you don't hurt too much.

have you got the big pads on? and big knickers?
I don't miss those! (and you've done it three times now!)

Ahh I'd book a telephone appt with your gp do you don't need to go in and explain the level of pain your in and ask if they can prescribe some strong pain killers. Then DP can go and collect for you Smile

Remember it's normal to feel teary at this stage, just cry if you need to and take your time with everything no rushing around.

How was the birth? I forgot to ask

You looked? Brave you! I didnt dare look at my 3rd degree tear!

Don't panic just remember it all will heal in time and you'll heal quicker the more active you are. I did lots of gentle walking to help my healing.

Take lots of warm baths and sit on extra cushions. Put a pillow under the small of your back at bedtime so you aren't putting weight on your bottom x

I found sitting on an icepack really helped, and also weeing in the shower for the first few days Blush.

(Meant to say - I couldn't actually sit down for a week after DS1. I thought I'd never recover, I was so swollen and torn, but it was all better by the six week check).

I called my GP as I was in 100 kinds of agony after dc3 to ask advice re: strong painkillers. She said so long as I was very careful to not exceed the maximum dosage I could take almost anything that I could get in a chemist. DH had to say it was for him though as the pharmacist wouldn't let me have them.

The afterpains really were as bad as contractions with the added hell joy of breastfeeding. They were gone within about 5 days. I cried almost non-stop for a week!

And congratulations!!

Congratulations! I remember you from December 10 antenatal. What a fab birth and a beautiful tiny girl to snuggle. I am v v envious. Enjoy every minute ( as well as you can with sore bits and no sleep). I hope you have lots of people treating you like an Olympic medal winner right now.

My fave baby name of the moment is Dinah.....

Get diclofenac (sp?), that's bloody marvellous stuff..

Take arnica tablets too, they really help ease things with bruising/swelling.
