Well back in December 2010 some of you lovely lot really helped me along whilst in labour with DD2...

Today it's dc3 (gender unknown) due date...

So, although Im not having a planned home birth this time, I will still be labouring along with you lot, if you'll have me :)

I'm marking my place.

but i would like to remind you what can happen when you book your Live Birth Thread early.

i booked mine at 39+4 (i think) and DD was born at 40+16.

don't forget- 4 live birth threads, it took! Grin
(but it put my name on the mao, so hey, i don't care!)

i know - i stupidly only read the first page where it faded after you went to bed.

i've read it all now.

don't forget to drink lots of water and fruit juice.
and eat loads especially pizza.

and i mean drink lots more than you think you'll need. (my post-birth wees didn't hurt at all)

you know I would call the delivery suite too, just to get their take on it ... I called them about 2 hours into 2nd labour, thinking it would be at least another night and day to go; on hearing me through a contraction they just said 'get here now' and believe me I was glad I did Grin

Call them so they have you on the radar.

You've been in labour before so listen to your body and trust it. Don't go by times and lengths but how your contractions feel.

Report
systemsaddict · 23/08/2012 13:40

That's OK, you can tell them all that on the phone and if they want you to call back again when they last longer, they will let you know; either way you are giving them a heads up, you don't have to wait till they're the full 60 secs.

Plus dont subsequent babies take less time?

Report
MrsKwazii · 23/08/2012 13:42

I'd also give them a call, as Indith says it will put you on the radar and they can advise you of when would be a good time to head on in. Has your DH checked the travel news as well just to make sure there are no problems on the road?

Report
FalseStartered · 23/08/2012 13:43

it will help them get an idea of how far into labour you are and save a little time when you do get there

also, 50 mins is quite a journey, and if in full labour you might need to slow the journey down a bit, a bumpy road mid-contraction is not very pleasant

Report
OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 23/08/2012 13:58

That's true. It will help them to know you are imminent.

Just found this thread. Love that your name is still onlywantsone while in labour with no. 3.

I would call hospital, and to be honest look at setting off soon. As someone already mentioned 50 mins is a long journey to hospital, and I've done it in strong labour, it is not pleasant.

Third labours can also ramp up really fast, you don't want to be suddenly feeling like you need to push.

Good luck.

I agree with others, with my second I went from mild manageable ctx to full blown labour really suddenly and a 50 minute journey would have been unbearable! I think you should start getting ready to go in quite soon, good luck!
