Who's up for a bit of labour then?

Big show this morning (leading to slightly panicked thread )....

Contractions now about 10 mins apart. Having a homebirth, so I'm going to be about lots, and thought I might as well start a labour chat thread

I'll update as and when...

oo er!!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 23/02/2006 20:35

spidermama, I was just going to suggest a trip to a 24hr tesco, bound to be the place to kick off properly right wonder if they're like mothercare and give you freebies if your waters break in there
Alternatively J&R'sMummy's suggestion of getting the MW in is a good one she may break your waters and you'll have a baby before midnight

Flamesparrow · 23/02/2006 20:53

Right.... they pretty much said to phone when I wanted a m/w, and that the one on call is 30 mins away. Going to go and self poke (is that tmi???).

I'll be back on a bit later, or if there is a change.

MoM - how late do you want me to text you?

Frizbetheexpansionset · 23/02/2006 20:54

TMI!

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 20:59

Oh you are kind, not having baby until I got back

Jasnem - a bit of a 'rummage'!!! that made me laugh Sorry just had odd visions of midwife rummaging around, pulling her hand out going 'aha, what do we have here?' I like the word 'rummage'

Flame you do realise you are going to have lots of tired friends in the morning! We gonna be popping on here all night to check up on you. Might have to poke Dylan tonight just so I have an excuse!

I agree, you should go for a walk. If nothing else the cold'll shock the baby out of you

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:00

I want a text too, Flame! Anytime!!!

fastasleep · 23/02/2006 21:01

Don't self poke! You might feel hair and sht yourself (not literally of course) that's what I did... 'Oooh' thinks Fastasleep 'I wonder how long I have to go, right' wiggles fingers '&£^^&&£, what a head of hair!!' I was scared then!

I reckon slow first stages (I had a super slow one second time round) are just gentle(ish) preparation for your cervix, you might find that it speeds up all of a sudden

Don't exhaust yourself, you're doing brill!

Heathcliffscathy · 23/02/2006 21:04

stairs? sitting on loo (this really did for me in terms of speeding up the contractions)?

in a hippy way: asking the baby to get a move on?

this is so exciting and you are so fab....keep going!

MerlinsBeard · 23/02/2006 21:04

u can text whenever u like. i just might not respond

Don't feel u have to tell me immediatly, i can wait

fastasleep · 23/02/2006 21:06

Do the hokey cokey... try it, it works, honest

sneakily gets the video camera out

MerlinsBeard · 23/02/2006 21:07

i felt head when i "self poked" with O. was scary!

fastasleep · 23/02/2006 21:08

With my first I asked stunned looking DH if he could see the head, stuck my hand down there and felt the entire head sticking out childbirth is like a horror movie!

Sorry Flame, I meant to say of course, that it's wonderful and lovely

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:10

I can't wait, MoM!! I'm sooooo impatient!

MerlinsBeard · 23/02/2006 21:12

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:12

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:14

I am trying to leave, but my fingers are stuck to the keyboard

Thell · 23/02/2006 21:15

Wow Flame!
I knew one of us would have to go into labour today
We succeeded in trying natural induction last night, so I hoped it would be me, but then you are due ... you may well even give birth on your due date at this rate!
Ooooo, it's so exciting!!

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:15

Oh and tut tut tut at Staci's DP ....does he want a cuppa?

Thell · 23/02/2006 21:16

I do - anything but bloody Raspberry Leaf Tea!!

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:19

Ooh I have two boxes of Raspberry Leaf tea here! Unopened! And my baby is 14 months old

I shall make proper tea, not pink tea!

chjlly · 23/02/2006 21:27

Has this little spark not appeared yet??!!
Ooh I loved raspberry leaf tea when I was pg!
Flame you will be responsible for me doing no work tomorrow if little one doesn't appear soon!

calebsmummy · 23/02/2006 21:28

Don't think DH has any hope of me going running with him like he wants. Just ran to the post box (5 or 6 houses away and round the corner) and I'm exhaaaaauuuuusted!!

Anyway, I think I am babbling! Gonna go and return later (cos I just won't be able to help it)

MerlinsBeard · 23/02/2006 22:03

no news then?
