Just wondering what the first thing all you ladies said (or yelled) after giving birth.
My dp has constantly made fun of me since our ds was born in november, as I literally hollered 'it's over!!!!!' ...loud enough for unoccupied midwives at the station to dash in and congratulate us.
Nothing like the teary..'oh my gosh he's beautiful' i expected.
Little did i know it was far from over as i then had retained placenta and had to go into theatre and get a spinal block to have it removed..but thats another story....

With my DS I said 'did I tear' only to look up and see both midwifes with blood dripping off them from head to toe!

Is she okay 'as DD was whisked away because the stupid consultant said she had swallowed meconium'. The midwife later confided that that consultant often pulled that trick at the end of his shift to avoid being woken in the middle of the night when he was on call. So a 'meconium staining' rapidly turned into a ventouse, episiotomy, baby taken off me, all so the lazy sod could have an undisturbed nights sleep. Can you tell I'm still pissed off at this more than 8 years later

Thomcat · 25/07/2006 23:05

With DD can't emeber the very first thing but the main thing I remember saying was 'she looks like she might have down's sydrome'

and with dd2 again not massively sure what the very first words were but the first thing i remember saying was 'it's a girl' and/or 'come and meet your sister'

possumhead · 25/07/2006 23:09

After an emergency c-section,....
Dh said "It's an orange one!!"
To which i shouted "an orange what?!"
Dh "I think it's a lass!!"
"oh..ok"

We were rather shocked as i was convinced she was a boy all along!!
But she is fab and had a lovely ginger-coloured hair - just like daddy!

chubbleigh · 25/07/2006 23:13

Hey Possumhead, I can't remember what I said but I do remember my first thought after coming round was 'bloody hell, he's got red hair'.

'Oh my God, she's huge' but she was only 7. 2

To dh 'are you sure it's a girl, go and make sure it's a girl' I could only see her bum and her leg.

I only got a quick look at her because they were stitching me after my section.

all4girlz · 26/07/2006 00:09

dd2 was a bad birth retained placenta surgery spinal block ---me to dh Do not think it has put me off I still want two close together!

dd3 -after spotting her red hair and big nose my dh said this one is goin to be trouble and boy was he right.

dd4-aaw isnt she lovely looks like dd2 not dd3

not going again but always a bit jealous of mums who do not find out the sex --would have loved to say what is it?

fattiemumma · 26/07/2006 00:09

DS - " no i dont want to see him just get him to special care please. and can i have a bath now"

74 hour labour, epesiotomy and rather worried about my baby.

DD - "Mum you can get her dressed. i want a sleep"

4 hour labour, no probs no pain killers just bloody lazy

eidsvold · 26/07/2006 07:01

dd1 - her name - was asked by surgeon as she was being taken out of my stomach - and then hi baby as she was shown very briefly to me before being taken to ICU.

Dd2 - hiya baby - a girl huh - proved me wrong and then her name.

1Baby1Bump · 26/07/2006 07:30

i put my hands down to pull him up out of water and he was limp with cord around his neck.

'oh my god! help him!'

kittywits · 26/07/2006 08:21

After the birth of dd3 at home, after a very fast and painful labour. She had been puching my bladder constantly between contactions so I was in pain ALL the time
"Hello baby, you gave me trouble!"

Elibean · 26/07/2006 10:09

OMG, its a baby! Then I cried

(contextual footnote: had a string of miscarriages, and couldn't quite believe she was real...half expecting her to be a puppy or something!)

alicemama · 26/07/2006 10:12

with dd1, I don't remember saying anything, was way too exhausted and just so relieved it was over. ( episiotomy & ventouse )

dd2 "I did it!" was so excited that I'd given birth with any pain relief or intervention.

helenmelon · 26/07/2006 10:25

I do remember saying " Thank God that's over!!!" and then, when they showed me DD, said "It's amazing how the worst day of your life can turn in to the best!!" (After a 28.5 hour labour and ecs). I think I also said "I'm never doing that again..."

I also remember saying "I told you it was a girl" to DH in a really smug way!!!

Guess I had lots to say, but had been very quiet during labour!!!!

Toothache · 29/07/2006 23:08

I said "DON'T EVER COME NEAR ME AGAIN YOU FECKIN TWAT!".... both times.

cataloguequeen · 29/07/2006 23:29

dd1 I didn't say a word but I thought 'look at her little feet!!'(that's all I could see st first)then 'bloody hell she looks just like her dad when he cries!!'then I said 'hello' my dh said 'well done babe, isn't she beautiful?' and I said 'yes she is'
dd2 didn't say anything again... I thought 'why isn't she making a sound? she's a bit blue!' then she started snuggling and had a drink and I thought'that was quick!!'and'I'm hungry'

nightowl · 29/07/2006 23:43

i believe it was "when i get out of here i'm going to punch you"

spidermama · 29/07/2006 23:54

dd1: 'It's a girl. It's Spidergirl.'

ds2: Sob, snivel 'Oh My God! Thank Fuck that's over. Is he Ok?'

ds3: (He said hello to me with just his head and nothing else dangling out). 'Hello Darling'.

ds4. 'What have I got. Why won't you answer me. He's another boy isn't he?'

NotAnOtter · 29/07/2006 23:59

spidermama · 30/07/2006 12:37
