Just wondering what the first thing all you ladies said (or yelled) after giving birth.
My dp has constantly made fun of me since our ds was born in november, as I literally hollered 'it's over!!!!!' ...loud enough for unoccupied midwives at the station to dash in and congratulate us.
Nothing like the teary..'oh my gosh he's beautiful' i expected.
Little did i know it was far from over as i then had retained placenta and had to go into theatre and get a spinal block to have it removed..but thats another story....

ds1 Hello beautiful I'm your mummy
ds2 Come on sweetheart breathe for Mummy. he was a bit shell-shocked as he came out with one push before the MS's were ready. He then promptly screamed out loud and weed on me. Love is.

petunia · 04/02/2006 13:13

DD1- said, "Hello baby" and "What is it?" (meaning girl or boy) before bursting into tears and thinking, "Thank G*d that's over" (3 day labour followed by a ventouse delivery in the operating theatre).

DD2- don't remember what I said but remember thinking, "I've done it, I've done it!" (after DD1s awful delivery was so pleased that I'd given birth in a "normal" way!)

eidsvold · 05/02/2006 23:34

dd1 - naming her as they let me quickly stroke her face as she was rushed off to ICU.

In recovery - saying to dh - I'm a mum now!!! Okay so she was 10 days early and I had gone for a scan and 1 hour or so later dd1 was born - guess it was the shock.....

Remember being wheeled into theatre thinking I can't have a baby today - it is not convenient.... I haven't finished packing my hospital bag and I have to do the shopping and go to the bank.

dd2 - what is it? Another girl.... - just cuddling and talking with her....

brodiesmummy · 06/02/2006 09:24

I said 'it's a little boy!@, followed quickly bt -that wasn't too bad !

Busyalexsmummy · 07/02/2006 09:34

ds1-its a boy
ds2- ow, ow, ow, owwwwww........

soniabailey · 10/02/2006 00:52

"Thank God he's beautiful!" (and he was) - I was so scared of having a cone-headed flat face spider monkey for a son!

nightowl · 10/02/2006 01:18

ds: just started blubbing i think but i was pretty drugged up.

dd:
someone: ooh she's small.
me: is she small?
someone: theyre just weighing her.
me: how heavy?
me: why isnt she crying, is she ok?
dd: "whaaaaaaaaaa"
on seeing her:

me: "oh".

WestCountryLass · 13/02/2006 22:47

With DS it was "is he alright?" He was 6 weeks prem.

With DD it was "really, a girl, are you sure?" We were convinced she was a he as DH thought he saw boys parts on her scan, doh!

jenniferjuniper · 13/02/2006 22:52

with DS i just stared in shock and said Hello Little Man.With dd i shouted see see , i knew it was a girl !!

brimfull · 13/02/2006 22:55

with both it was " are they alright?"

Mum2OneAndOneMore · 13/02/2006 22:57

Ds -

Me - I burst into tears & said Hello gorgeous!

Dp - Welcome to the world & showed him out the window

DD -

Me - Have i done it? is it over? oh she is so beautiful.

Dp - Hello ! She is so gorgeous (then walks over to the window) Welcome to the world & showed her out of the window too

calebsmummy · 14/02/2006 17:57

My first baby boy was stillborn, so just lots of tears. My second son was 7 weeks premature as I had the same condition which my first baby died of and I said over and over again ' He's alright!!!'

My 3rd baby boy (born 9 years after DS2 was 8lb 3oz so after having a prem, the first thing I said was 'Oh my god he is huge!!' Which of course he wasn't but he was twice the size of DS2! The midwives first said 'Oh he's a boy!' They were absolutely convinced he was a girl for some reason!

When my 4th baby boy (yup it's all boys!)I said 'Hello Sweetheart, you are beautiful' Again everyone expected a girl as I already had had 3 boys, but I sorta knew he was a boy.

Aww I like thinking about my boys births, it's lovely

Bexybear · 16/02/2006 12:44

It was a hideous birth

i could hardly hold him so they tucked him next to me on the trolly

My first words were distinctly unromantic

'im keeping my legs crossed for the next ten years'

Arabica · 16/02/2006 15:59

Oh my god, he looks like my mother!

sharon1104 · 16/02/2006 21:17

The first thing i said was oh my god i can see my fanny

poppiesinaline · 16/02/2006 21:27

Call me naive but ........ how could you see your fanny!!!!?

Busyalexsmummy · 17/02/2006 15:41

I think she means there was no bump in the way anymore-therefor -she could see her fanny!

stephanie21 · 17/02/2006 15:44

after dd (which is my 5th baby) i asked if she was ok,then glared at dh and said 'you ever come near me again and i'll cut your bits off!!'

icklmum · 17/02/2006 22:14

MW to me as he was crowning "would you like to feel the head?"
ME: "No i bloody don't just get it out of me!"

Me to MW when he was finally out: " please tell me hes not ginger" (the shame of me, my best friend is ginger!)

Me to Dp once handed to me: "Oh where is he?" (he was a tiny baby wrapped in a massive blanket) "Ahhh he looks like a little alien"

Sparklemagic · 17/02/2006 22:31

Wow, MN has just done me a big favour! I hadn't been able to remember what I said AT ALL and my son is four nearly!! (Had a 'crash' CS under general) and as I read the thread title it just popped into my head!!!

"I can't stop shaking"

not worth remembering was it really!

KateF · 17/02/2006 22:36

dd1 - is she alive? (lost heartbeat so panic stations all round and rapid ventouse delivery)
dd2 - she's enormous (7lb14 but seemed huge after 5lb dd1)
dd3 - is it a girl then? (scan had said 90% sure but I wasn't convinced)

mymama · 17/02/2006 22:42

"Thank god that is over" followed by "what is it" even though I had been told she was a girl I wanted to double check. Pretty sure this was repeated for ds1 and ds2 as well!!

lovecloud · 24/02/2006 23:24

"oh my god, oh my god" like chantelle of celebrity big brother

followed by

"i am never doing that again!"

here i am 30 weeks pregnant

renshimum · 25/07/2006 14:04

thank fuck for that

Iklboo · 25/07/2006 14:06

What is it? followed by (when I found I'd had DS) - "well, that'll p!ss my mother off" - cos she was convinced I was having a girl, even though I'd told her all through pregnancy I was sure I was having a boy
