Just wondering what the first thing all you ladies said (or yelled) after giving birth.
My dp has constantly made fun of me since our ds was born in november, as I literally hollered 'it's over!!!!!' ...loud enough for unoccupied midwives at the station to dash in and congratulate us.
Nothing like the teary..'oh my gosh he's beautiful' i expected.
Little did i know it was far from over as i then had retained placenta and had to go into theatre and get a spinal block to have it removed..but thats another story....

"bleurgh.........."
I was spectacularly sick everywhere (like in the Exorcist - lol) straight after ds was born!

SorenLorensen · 30/01/2006 14:17

Ds1 "why isn't he crying?"

Ds2 "hello baby"

crazydazy · 30/01/2006 14:20

DD - "Thank god thats over"
DS - "Is he okay?"

I was incredibly sick too after DS's birth, that bleedin' epidural, horrible birth it was.

HandbagAddiction · 30/01/2006 14:22

For dd it was "oh my god, it's huge!"

Didn't know the sex at the time and she looked massive when plonked briefly onto my tummy - in fact she was pretty average at 7lb 14oz but then everyone (including me) had been expecting a much smaller baby as my bump was quite small....

nailpolish · 30/01/2006 14:23

after dd1 "where is my BABY????????" (they had whisked her away to be resuscitated and i didnt even know if i had a boy or a girl)

after dd2 "yay another girl! can i have my tea and toast now please?"

hornbag · 30/01/2006 14:26

With DD, after all the screaming, grunting etc of labour I apparently said, vey calmly " That f*ing hurt".
(Don't remember it myself but DP assures me its true).
With DS I think I said something along the lines of "hello little one"

"You've got your son, call him what you like"

It was a tough birth!!

ponygirl · 30/01/2006 14:31

"Why has my daughter got one of those?"

tangerinecath · 30/01/2006 14:42

According to dh it was "thank fuck for that" - it was a fairly quick but painful labour.

First thing I remember is "it's definitely a girl, isn't it? It is, isn't it? Isn't it? Isn't it? - we knew what flavour dd was following the 20 week scan.

Gas and air is a wonderful thing

LadyTophamHatt · 30/01/2006 14:43

DH said"what is it?"
MW said "it's a boy"
I said "haaaaH! See I told you"

I said I saw a willy during a scan and dh didn't beleive me.

Ds2
"i've done it"
as dh and my mum ran upthe stairs. My mum thought I meant I'd packed the hospital bag!1

Laura032004 · 30/01/2006 14:46

"Is he breathing" Long difficult labour then c/s.

Easy · 30/01/2006 14:46

I had a CS under general anaesthetic. Apparently (according to dh) as I was coming round the first thing I said was " Mummy it hurts".

harpsichordcarrier · 30/01/2006 14:50

both times "is it ok? is it ok?"
with dd2 when being told "it" was a girl
"are you SURE??????"

vicimelly · 30/01/2006 14:51

I growled at everyone in the room 'tell me what it is! dd had been whisked off to be resusitated and they wouldn't tell me, kept saying you can see yourself in a minute, everyone looked at me like I might jump up and hit them so told me she was a girl, to which I replied sweetly 'told ya so'

madmarchhare · 30/01/2006 14:52

Is he OK?
Am I OK?

Marne · 30/01/2006 15:07

'I'm noy doing that again'
now look at me 33 weeks pg (i must be mad)

Meanoldmummy · 30/01/2006 15:07

DS1 "He's not breathing, he's blue, oh God"

DS2 "Hello beautiful"

dd: "it's a Horace, not a Boris!" - I was convinced it was a boy.

ds1: "My God, how did THAT get out without a c-section?" - he was a 10lb-er.

ds2: "Bloody hell, that was quick!" Followed by "It's a boy!"

ds3 "Oh blimey it's another boy."

ds4 "He's so little, he's so little, he's so little, he's so little!" In a pathetic whiney voice which dh never lets me forget as he got it on video clip.
Quickly followed by "Oh, flipping 'eck, it's ANOTHER boy!"

QE2 · 30/01/2006 15:15

Doh - first one there should be Doris not Horace. Horace was her nickname when I was preg.

georginars · 30/01/2006 15:22

'Is it out yet?' - yes, I couldn't even tell! followed by 'thank god for that'. Quiclky followed by 'what is it' then 'Is she OK?' 'Is she breathing?' many times whilst she was resucitated and then 'I told you it was a girl, I'm always right. I'm hungry'

Not exactly the ecstatic, beautiful scene I'd envisaged then....

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 15:23

Qe2 ...big respect for you letting a video camera anywhere near the delivery room

"Its a baby!"

then "imagine having a boy"
