I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

wards pregnant ladies from small harbinger of disease<

squits is a good sign. i had the squits terrible before last labour...

usingapseudonym · 05/12/2011 10:42

Oooh good luck! No sign of anything here - even the backache seems less (?!?!?). Hmmm.

NorksAreMessy · 05/12/2011 10:45

Another one cheering you on from the sidelines and wishing you all the best.

Might you actually give birth in the shop? It might bring in a little passing trade? In fact, if you could manouevre yourself into the window and wear something blue, you could be Christmas-themed!
Can't wait to hear of the safe arrival of little isbn (or Dewey?)

BamBam21 · 05/12/2011 10:53

Hi nickel! Just popping back to see how you are. I really hoped Isbn would be born on DS's birthday yesterday, but 5 December seems like a fantastic date too! Xmas Smile

I don't have any advice to pass on I'm afraid, but I do remember the squits featuring quite a lot just before labour really got going.Xmas Shock Also, I took raspberry leaf tea capsules from Holland & Barrett, as the actual tea was foul. Don't know if they helped but it's worth a try!

Good luck mi'dearie.Xmas Smile

Hi, just hope today is the day for you.

DutchOma · 05/12/2011 11:11

Has she got anything against you wearing blue in labour?

latrucha · 05/12/2011 11:16

Nickelbabe - my DS was born 24 hours after a bout of V+D. My MW said it was quite common - the body preparing. Hope it's true for you.

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 11:20
Grin not blue, the shop - she's already annoyed with me for still working. gosh, can you imagien if i'd had this week off? i'd be stir-fry crazy by now!! Shock

thanks latrucha - me too.
"nature's enema" my friend calls it.

it must be getting close - i'm so clumsy today - jut knocked over a stand that's not even in the way of where I needed to go. and a guy from church is going to Germany tomorrow, so he's just been in and I wished him "have fun" and he said "i hope it's arrived by the time i get back - that's a week on Tuesday" I went "what's arrived?" (thinking, I haven't ordered anything for him, is he talking about something at church? can't think of anything that's arriving at church?! Confused) suddenly realized that he meant the baby! Blush

oh, and this morning, I cleaned the door on the landing that was covered in dust and cobwebs - that's been annoying me for weeks. is that nesting instinct kicking in? (i texted DH to let him know and he went "hope so, then you can wash the pots too!" Hmm)

Come on Baby nickel or I will come and get you out myself when I have finished work (although that might be thursday Hmm so i might be a bit late!)

ElfOnTheShelf · 05/12/2011 11:30

Yes, yes that's definitely nesting. I don't know why but i think the 6th sounds like a nice day to be born on. My DH, DD and I all have odd numbered birthdays. My dad and MIL are the 7th Dec.

Keep active Smile

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 05/12/2011 11:31

Yay, come on baby!!
wishing you good labour vibes.

CuriosityCola · 05/12/2011 11:44

Agreed that sounds like nesting. I had a sudden panic that nothing was tidy enough the day I went into proper labour.

Oh, i know you are feeling a bit sick, but try and eat as many nice things as you can today. I had no appetite during labour and really regret labouring having only ate a couple of slices of dominoes pizza Blush

usingapseudonym · 05/12/2011 11:51

I'm worried I "missed" my labour. About 10 days- 2 weeks ago I was manically scrubbing the house, and I had lots of er poo and nausea. Now I'm just tired..!

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 12:04

i love that me cleaning one door is the nesting instinct! Grin

OnlyWantsOne · 05/12/2011 12:13

are you STILL pregnant?? hahaha

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 12:16

ah, now, the food thing is something i'm wondering about.
I'm one of those people that doesn't do not eating, but on my wedding day, i ate hardly anything (not through choice, but just because it didn't occur to me until I was absolutely starving) - i was given food, but i only ate bits of it. (too distracted i suppose)
I hope that i'll eat when it comes to it - DH has been told he must supply me with loads of food, and force me to eat it.

pseudonym - you haven't missed your labour! you'd know! Grin
(you were just projecting - your nesting came early...)

Nesting? i dusted the whole house (which is usually only done once a year or so when family visit!), swept and mopped the flat both before and fater Christmas decs went up - the (fake) tree malts something chronic :( did a shed-load of cooking-to-freeze for when we get back from the hospital... none of it has worked :(

Another old wives hint is to scrub floors as being on all-fours helps baby prepare. Don't fancy that myself, but my mum was on her hands and knees cutting out a skirt pattern when she went into labour with me - so perhaps it does work?!

I shall get on all-fours while watching a bit of telly this afternoon with some chocolate biscuits :)

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 12:38

yeah, i was on all fours several times - bag-stuffing; doing something else but i can't remember what, but it took me ages; etc, but nothing has happened.

being on all fours is good for baby-positioning, but i don't think it does anything else.

chocolate biscuits sound good (i've just had a muller corner with choccy flakes)

NorksAreMessy · 05/12/2011 12:45

Now, can you be on all fours in the shop window. I can sew you some donkey ears and a tail, if that helps.
You could balance some donkey-themed books on your back and pretend to be a shelf?

nickelbabe · 05/12/2011 12:51

I can't even get into the window in this state, never mind kneel down in there! (it's rather narrow, and I end up hanging over the bookcases behind it to reach down - that's tricky with this bump!)

OP posts:
Hohohomouse · 05/12/2011 12:52

40+3 Still bugger all here. No nesting, no pains, no stretch marks - where it not for the mahoosive bump I may start to think I have imagined the whole thing...

The constant texting, e mailing, face booking and twittering is starting to get up my nose. Don't have time to DO anything because I am too busy responding to bits of technology. I have put up a message on fB just saying no baby yet, trying my hardest, bear with me etc and people still respond in their droves asking questions....
Sigh, I should be pleased people care enough to be bothered. I may just stick to Mumsnet in future...

LMH I am gutted things are tough for you at the moment. It's difficult enough facing a properly life changing event without everything else kicking off too

Honey Oi I am excited for both of you. Sure we shall have a couple of babes in next 24 hours
