I'm getting really impatient, and Isbn is showing no signs of wanting to be born.

So far:
I am 40+4 today (was due on Saturday)
I am very heavy.
Isbn is currently residing on my bladder, and also a nerve on my left-hand-side hip.
It feels the lowest it has been, and I can't decide whether the tightenings are Isbn's bottom or muscles doing something.
For the past couple of days, I've been feeling sick, like morning sickness, and food has been giving me massive heartburn.

Don't get your hopes up, but I thought it would be a good idea to start the thread, because DH isn't technical enough to start one when the time comes (and is indeed very hesitant about even posting on it)

I am just imagining the back of girl's baby's head. All soft and swirly.
I love the back of babies's heads.

sigh

FourThousandHoles · 04/12/2011 10:55

My mate has just had a baby
His ears are completely squished to the side of his head
His hair is all fluffy
He has that smell

I had forgotten what newborns are like, I haven't seen one for a year or so

That said, I'm done with this breeding lark myself, I'm quite happy to squee at a newborn then hand it back

Pantofino · 04/12/2011 10:57

Oh this is making me all broody. My friends in the US had a lovely, snuggly baby girl this week.....

stripeywoollenhat · 04/12/2011 11:03

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 04/12/2011 11:21

FAB??? After all of this, I don't think any of the Famous Five are just going to hand their babies over to you because you now have a clean and tidy room for it Shock

No babies yet ?

You sound like you are getting there nickel, when I had my youngest all I had was a really bad backache day before, and then slept all night till things really started happening.

Thinking of you. xxx

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 04/12/2011 12:04

If I tidy up to do I get a baby?

TheOriginalFAB · 04/12/2011 12:15

Chipping that wasn't what I meant but now you come to mention it.... Grin

LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 04/12/2011 12:22

No nickelbaby?

Hope church was bearable and no one asked daft questions Grin

vamosbebe · 04/12/2011 12:51

Was monitored for the third time this morning - no rummaging/poking/sweeping, hurrah! Seem to have missed all that unpleasantness, great considering it doesn't always work.

I'm booked to go to the hospital Tuesday evening to be induced Wednesday morning - very excited! Hopefully by Wednesday evening I'll be holding a little tiny boy with a wobbly head :)

Congratulations girlsyearapart

Fingers well and truly crossed and happy short labour vibes for

Go stripey sounds like you are well on the way! I remember marching frantically holding on to the cot when in labour with DD, remember to get rest/food whilst you can, that was the mistake I made and I was knackered by the time she came.

Come on nickelbabe, youtalkintome, usingapseudonym, largeginantonic

nickelbabe · 04/12/2011 13:28

stripey ! that sounds promising - that was 1/4 pat 11, and she's been quiet since...
ooh, there could be another thread baby (my thread, it should be my baby! Grin )

Not in such a bad mood - nothing happening, yet, although it feels like yesterday's movements aren't far away from happening again.
DH told the choir not to talk about it, because i was a bit fed up, so it was lovely to be in the tower without anyone mentioning it. and even when I went to fetch my robes and said "fat lady coming thorugh" there was no reply or follow-up "joke" Grin

of course, some members of the congregation weren't quite so unannoying. I just ignored them as best i could. Mad woman made comment "when's the baby coming?" "i don't know" "do you want a boy or a girl?" "i don't care" (she actually is mad woman, though, she's mentally disabled so i can't really do anything except walk away :( )

My friend, who's a midwife, was at church an i was chatting to her afterwards (i don't mind chatting about it to people who actually understand what's going on)(unlike the stupid old women who say "suchandsuch was 6 weeks late." no, she wasn't, she had her baby 50 years ago and they weren't accurate with dating then!) She said that everything was going well - that the symptoms of yesterday were great and my body's preparing, and that in the next few days i would get a baby. [sigh]
why is it that health professionals bring your pie-in-the-sky hopes down by being realistic? Shock
Anyway, she was happy with what was happening, so so am i.

We've got the Blind Service this afternoon, so a quick lunch and then back out.

And I got my pads for the tens machine. then looked through the instructions! glad I did: it's a bit lot more complicated than DH's Mum's one!

PestoCaffeinisto · 04/12/2011 13:44

Good luck NIckel, sounds like everything's ticking along nicely - even if it does seem long & drawn out. Will be thinking of you all afternoon... and beyond Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 04/12/2011 14:10

Back from the school fayre with lots of raffle winnings and a stroppy DD. Was so hoping there would be more developments but all sounds like it is progressing.

usingapseudonym · 04/12/2011 16:00

Church as full of very well meaning people ALL saying they hadn't expected to see me and "haven't you had that baby yet?!". Bless.

I'm tired and achey and husband goes to work 2 hours away tomorrow. Not impressed.

He is probably going to be Henry though we also have William Luke & Joseph on the list.

Have to name him soon I'm being driven mental by people asking!

Car journey least fun ever- I had my eyes shut & according to Dh I asked if we were there when we had got to the end of the rd..

Come on ladies let's give him a companion!

He has a beautiful little face & a lovely head & neck btw

DutchOma · 04/12/2011 16:30

I'm sure it isn't for want of trying...

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 16:41

This thread is making me feel a bit broody. Sad

nickelbabe · 04/12/2011 17:39
