I am 38+5 today. And I am so bloody FED UP of being pregnant now!

Can't sleep during the night, so end up sleeping during the day which then perpetuates the no sleeping at night; have 2 two year olds to look after as well which is REALLY difficult (thankfully in nursery 3 days a week); constantly up and down for a wee; standing up makes me nauseous and/or faint so can't really go anywhere or do anything.....

ARGH! I haven't any problems really, just getting to point now where I really really really want my baby, he's kicking me a lot to let me know he is there but this is making me nauseous as well :(

Oh well, I'll just go and chop some more pineapple and drink my raspberry leaf tea - OH should be home soon, I don't think he's ever felt so lucky! Grin Hoping I don't go too much further - was induced at 36 weeks with the boys so have no idea what to expect!

Thanks catgirl and nicklebabe for your advice and support :)

I've wrote about my anxiety on my birth plan, I just don't think it responds quickly enough to me trying to breath deeply and trying to stay calm for their liking. It seems to take about 2 hours from me reaching full panic mode to being able to stay calm. Good thing is that my anxiety doesn't seem to have negative effects on the baby.

We need to practice being more assertive with the hospital staff I think. They wrong foot me by being really nice and kind and I just end up going along with them. Particularly as I'm anxious and scared. Hope I can keep things in check for the main event :)

CollieandPup · 23/11/2011 06:21

Hi all!!!! Just a quick post to say I didn't get that glass of rose! My labour progressed Sunday night and our baby boy was born at home on Monday at 3.17pm!! Grin he's just perfect! Good luck to everyone, I hope your wait is short lived now!!!

MotherofPearl · 23/11/2011 09:41

Many congrats Collie, you must be so relieved!
Catgirl, I too was hoping for a water birth this time around and I feel really torn between 'induce me now, I can't take another second of this', and waiting for nature to take its course and perhaps getting the water birth I had planned.
Time feels like it's come to a complete standstill.
Have consultant appt tomorrow when they'll decide what to do next, and when. Will probably have a 2nd sweep and see if that helps.
40+6 today.

nickelbabe · 23/11/2011 10:25

Ah! Collie! Well done! You can have that glass now Wine
congratulations! Grin

handbag - it might be worth also putting that, then - that it takes a while to calm you down again, and that pressure put on you to calm down will make it take longer (and you could also put that the anxiety is exactly why water birth is the best way for you)

muppetthecow · 23/11/2011 10:40

41 weeks today and have had enough! I'm constantly fighting the sarcastic come-back. "Baby still not here?" "Well yes, actually, but then I decided I would shove a beach ball up my dress and waddle around in pain some more because I missed it so much." I think one more well meant "Won't be long now!" might just finish me off!

Plus the support belt for my SPD no longer fits and they won't give me another one because I'm 40 weeks+. Stupid sadistic silly people physio's.

Ooh it feels good to have a rant!

Dawnywoo · 23/11/2011 17:21

hello ladies, sorry there still seems to be so many of you still waiting..

My last post on sunday was 'contractions tailing off, sod this i'm having a glass of wine' well 2 hrs later they ramped up big style so i went to the birthing centre around 1am only to be told cervix closed and posterior. Gutted. Was allowed a warm bath to help with contractions but was sent home at 4am.

Walked back in the house, waters went in spectacular fashion followed by overwhelming pushing sensations. Went immediately back to hospital - 9.5cm dilated on arrival at 5.20am. Baby Poppy born at 8.20am in the birthing pool with absolutely no pain relief. Wow! Amazing, if not slightly intense experience but it's amazing what the body is capable of. Am in awe of my new baby daughter.

Good luck everyone xx

girlsyearapart · 23/11/2011 17:46

Congrats collie & dawny good luck with the new arrivals!
Love the name poppy by the way

Anyway can I join?
Having a shocking few days.

Am 37 + 3 with dc4.
Have three girls who are 4.2,3.2 & 15 months.

Yesterday at a playgroup the youngest fell off a chair- not even an adult chair- but was holding a toy which must ve gone into her mouth.

Anyway she knocked one front tooth out & impacted the other three into her gums.

So much blood & whole day in hospital.

When I thought things couldn't get worse at 3am dd2 came upstairs asking to be tucked back into bed.

We are in the loft so had to go downstairs she asked to be carried which I did so she wouldn't have a tantrum & wake dd3 who needed her sleep.

Anyway I slipped & fell and without landing on the bump or hurting dd2 I stuck out my leg..

Now have broken toe & possible broken bone in foot.
Couldnt have x ray due to pregnancy.

Anyway am thoroughly fed up so can I join?

Truffkin · 23/11/2011 19:04

Congrats Collie and Dawny great news for you both.

Handbag sending strength your way, as Nickel says, hopefully your own hospital know about you better than the one you were at, so they may be better placed to manage the situation more effectively. Can you make sure your birth partner is well versed in how to discuss the issues with any HCPs during your labour? It may help your anxiety to know you have someone strongly in your corner. (((hugs)))

Nothing happening here, so just checking in really. Bloody show this morning and some background period-type dull aches in bump but nothing that could be counted as a contraction - more's the pity.

Welcome Girls and so sorry to hear the stress you are having at this late stage. Hope things improve for you (maybe stressful end of pregnancy equals nice easy labour??)

youtalkintome · 23/11/2011 21:05

I'm joining this rather late but have been fairly happy up until now and all of a sudden i have had enough, i want this baby out! 39 weeks tomorrow have been 10 days over twice before and i can't face it Sad I'm sick of cleaning dc just mess everything up 5 mins later, Dh is working till 9 every night there is nothing on TV and i'm so bored can't seem to read as I have no concentration I have done most of the Christmas shopping.

I was told today by a colleague i met that i look like i'm ready because I now have a fat faceSad I don't want to take my fat face outside because I may swear at the next person who asks me if i'm still here. Sorry for the rant just feel so Angry.

catgirl1976 · 23/11/2011 22:27

Well - I've been missing as I went into labour at 6pm last night and my beautiful baby boy arrived at 5:30 this morning.

He is perfect - will update when less tired :)

Congrats to Collie and Dawny

Fingers crossed for everyone else - it WILL happen xx

girlsyearapart · 24/11/2011 08:34

Congrats catgirl!

nickelbabe · 24/11/2011 17:24

I had a very annoying woman in my shop earlier who wouldn't stop talking and she proclaimed that i was "still very high"
How she knew this, I don't know because a) I was sitting down and slouching; b) I've not been "high" all the way through the pregnancy, in fact, most people have commented that I have carried low; and c) I "dropped" visibly at about 34 weeks. Hmm

Congratulations Dawny ! I might have to down a few glasses now... Wink
the powers of going home, eh!

girls Shock and :(
poor you! what a disaster! Brew and Biscuit and [choccy] and Wine for you.

Well done catgirl Grin

what a lot of news in one day!

handbagCrab · 24/11/2011 18:59

Congratulations collie dawnie and catgirl !! I'm really pleased for you all!

Had another sweep today but looking like there's nothing doing so I'm ringing the hospital in the morning & then presumably going in for induction. Thanks for all your support and ideas for my anxiety issues. Hopefully I can keep calm & the first lot of induction will be successful & I can still have a water birth :)

Take care all expectant and new mums & hope to speak to you soon xx

muppetthecow · 25/11/2011 10:45

Still no sign of Baby here :( 40+9 now and feeling really fed up!

I've noticed that everyone seems to be talking about second and third sweeps - I had one on my EDD, but there was no mention of getting a second, they just booked me in for induction this coming Tuesday. Does that seem weird? 1st baby here so a bit Confused

I've had two trips into triage this week as no movement from Baby- luckily though strong heartbeat both times - but at £20 for a taxi each time I'm dreading having to go in again before the end of the month as I've got no blinking money left!

Congrats to all you lucky ladies who've had your babies!

nickelbabe · 25/11/2011 11:40

It's probably because your cervix wasn't ready.

I'm refusing all of those things - I don't want any false procedures, because I will have to kiss goodbye to a homebirth. (in fact, MW said yesterday that if I choose induction, I won't even be allowed in the MW-led unit - even though it's down the corridor from the labour ward!)

I'm not looking forward to the idea of being 41 weeks, because she said I'd have to do daily trips to Medway for monitoring, even if I don't have sweeps or anything else. Absolutely daft - forcing a woman in that stage to go 8 miles down crappy, slow roads every day until something happens!
they're not allowed to do them at the local hospital though.

nickelbabe · 25/11/2011 11:41

more than anything I want something to happen sooooooon, because I'm getting fed up with every single customer who comes in asking me when it's due, and then telling me how late their own were.

muppetthecow · 25/11/2011 12:12

Ah... that would make sense. Be nice if she'd mentioned it though :)

That does seem a bit daft; surely once the labour's been started the MW led unit would be able to provide the same service? Fingers crossed for your homebirth!

I work in a community pharmacy and apparently all our little-old-ladies have set up a sweepstake and keep ringing everyday for updates. I think everyone's getting a bit fed up with it - I'm quite glad I'm not there!

nickelbabe · 25/11/2011 12:21

ah, but induction means there's more chance of needing more interference - it's the rush to get the baby out that causes the problems.
It really is a worry - they don't seem to follow through the chain of events - but then, that's doctors for you.
:(

Truffkin · 26/11/2011 07:28

Baby Truff arrived yesterday, 41 weeks exactly and on his little cousin's 5th birthday! I went from contraction waking me at 4am to holding him at 9am. No time for any drugs or to think about my birth plan. Birth centre full so had him on the labour ward, but all said it was nowhere near what I was expecting and I'm simply in awe of his gorgeousness Grin

Sending good labour vibes to everyone still waiting. It's soooo worth all of that fed up-ness x

nickelbabe · 26/11/2011 09:29

Congratulations truff! Grin
it's my due date today, and i'm dreading going into work. I might just have to kill any customer who mentions the baby and asks when it's due. Hmm
dh has openened the shop for me, and i'm getting dressed now.

alikat724 · 26/11/2011 10:00

Morning all, hope no-one minds if I join in! I'm 40+1 with my first today, so have been putting off getting impatient but feel justified in saying I really want to have this baby NOW, enough already, out you come, your lease has expired! :) I actually feel fine, no health issues to speak of, just clumsy, hormonal and needing to pee all the time. Glad I found this thread, it somehow makes it a lot easier knowing I'm now the only one!

neverinamillionyears · 26/11/2011 10:10

Morning all, due date for me too today. Shall we have a race who gets there first? I felt and looked so rubbish yesterday so I decided I will not do the same today. Hair and make up done, now off for some breakfast with DP, can't wait. yum.

Hope some babies appear by today, so if I can't have my one at least a baby will appear on my due date Grin good luck all!

alikat724 · 26/11/2011 10:17

Ah never, you're making me feel guilty, I'm still unshowered, in my pjs, bouncing on my birthing ball! And I just had carrot cake for breakfast, is that bad??? ;) But it does mean I am WELL sugared-up so very happy to join in a race! Good luck to everyone else as well, particularly girls, I second the motion for pain/trouble-free labour for you given everything else that has happened!

stripeywoollenhat · 26/11/2011 11:53

39 weeks today, and utterly exhausted. i think it's really the hanging about waiting that is so draining really. could be 2 more weeks of this, and then i imagine the pressure to induce will start (am 42). baby is much less active (though she is still moving about, am not actually worried, and had antenatal yesterday, good heart rate) so maybe she's gathering herself...?

alikat724 · 26/11/2011 12:09

stripey the hanging around waiting is definitely tiring, in hindsight if I thought I could have handled commuting I probably would have worked past 36 weeks just to keep myself busy! Baby also stopped moving for about 6 hours (from 2am to 8am) on Thursday night and I panicked with the combination of exhaustion and worry - DH was calling from work every 15 mins just to tell me things were going to be fine, and I cried about 20 times throughout the day yesterday, the hormones are soooo much fun. Hmm I had a MW appt yestereday too, was very relieved to hear her heartbeat loud and strong. Am definitely overanalysing too, looking for some kind of sign, given that I really don't know what I'm looking for! Another raspberry leaf tea brewing too.... Patience has definitely run out now!
