I am 38+5 today. And I am so bloody FED UP of being pregnant now!

Can't sleep during the night, so end up sleeping during the day which then perpetuates the no sleeping at night; have 2 two year olds to look after as well which is REALLY difficult (thankfully in nursery 3 days a week); constantly up and down for a wee; standing up makes me nauseous and/or faint so can't really go anywhere or do anything.....

ARGH! I haven't any problems really, just getting to point now where I really really really want my baby, he's kicking me a lot to let me know he is there but this is making me nauseous as well :(

Oh well, I'll just go and chop some more pineapple and drink my raspberry leaf tea - OH should be home soon, I don't think he's ever felt so lucky! Grin Hoping I don't go too much further - was induced at 36 weeks with the boys so have no idea what to expect!

Welcome collie - hope things start moving for you

showtunes - good luck tomorrow - let me know how it goes

I have NOTHING happen since losing my plug.......this baby might get on well with yours when they both finally arrive. They seem to have similar attitudes!

handbagCrab · 20/11/2011 12:24

Showtunesgirl best of luck for your induction. I saw my counsellor yesterday and I feel a lot better about if I have to get to that stage.

Congrats Catgirl and collie for losing mucus plugs (never thought I'd be saying that)! Think mine went last night, thank Christ!

Off to my mum's today. I haven't left where I live for weeks as wanted to be close to the hospital, just in case. So now I'm trying something different.

My counsellor recommended just doing what you feel like rather than focussing on the imminent birth so I'm going to do that too. For example, I've not been going out on my own in case I go into labour and can't drive home. But she said I could ring an ambulance or a taxi if that happens and it would all be ok. Which it would be, I just needed someone else to point it out to me!

Good luck everyone :)

Dawnywoo · 20/11/2011 19:48

Hoping there has been some movement with you lovely ladies since your last posts. It's all gone quite quiet!

I've had contractions every 10 mins all day long - that have now tailed off...

Am pretending I don't care and having a glass of wine. Ha!

Come on babies!!!

showtunesgirl · 20/11/2011 20:35

I was quiet due to grocery shopping, nothing more exciting than that really!

About to have a look through my list / bags again and to ensure that everything really is ready for tomorrow.

I have to call Labour Ward at 8am to see what's going on and then there's another wait! If I'm very lucky, it will all be over tomorrow OR it may be a drawn out process and I might give birth on hubby's birthday!

catgirl1976 · 20/11/2011 20:51

I was quiet due to weeping silently into a cushion all afternoon :) well not reallu but I'm close to it.

Danny sorry things have tailed off ....fingers crossed it starts off again

Good luck tomorrow showtunes - will be thinking of you!

catgirl1976 · 20/11/2011 21:06

I'm going to have a glass of wine too.

CollieandPup · 20/11/2011 23:34

catgirl I could do with weeping into that pillow too!!! Contractions picked up again this morning and I've had them all day. Very sporadic, still under a minute most if the time, in fact only 30 secs for a while ! I even dragged my arse out for a walk to our local farm shop-which was agony- in the hope it would move things on! Nope! I suppose they are a little less sporadic now - caring from 5-8 mi s rather than 20, but I do get the odd gap! They are bloody painful and I'm fed up! FFS vibe out already!!!

However..... I'm also shit scared!!!....

Wine.....yummm, that could take the edge off. Maybe tomorrow!

showtunesgirl · 21/11/2011 00:59

Having some rose myself right now. Might as well. Wine

MotherofPearl · 21/11/2011 11:54

Have just found this thread. Am 40+4 with second DC and truly, truly, utterly desperate! I can't believe this is still dragging on, I am so sick of being PG. Literally in my case, as I've had HG throughout and am still sick once a day and nauseous a lot of the time. I did not sign up for a 42 week PG!
What, apart from wine-drinking, are you doing to pass the time? Argh. Sad

Truffkin · 21/11/2011 12:27

40+3 today and boooored of nothing happening. Had a bit of a debate with MW this morning about induction as hospital policy means induction at +9, which I am not keen on. She was also a bit Confused at my suggestion that decisions should be based on results of monitoring me specifically, rather than general policy - shock horror!! Grin

I appear to be watching episodes of 'Homes Under the Hammer' on iplayer today. How productive!

catgirl1976 · 21/11/2011 12:30

40 + 6 today :( Second sweep booked for tomorrow.

Welcome motherofpearl :) hope things start moving for you soon!

Today I am mostly passing the time by interfering by remote access with the person who is covering for me on maternity leave and getting right on their nerves :)

I might have a bounce on the birthing ball but I dont think I have any bounce left in me! I thought I maybe felt a bit twingey this morning but no....nothing

Come ON babies!

nickelbabe · 21/11/2011 12:53

Collie that sounds good!

am now 39+2, so still not as desperate as you lot!
but yesterday, I was getting shedloads of BH, and I've been feeling really sick.
my midwife friend is getting far too excited (for someone who sees birth every bloody day!) .
went to a party on saturday night and danced for ages to heavy metal songs, but nothing happened from that. Hmm
and no show, so, it's not likely to happen anytime soon.

catgirl1976 · 21/11/2011 14:14

I am definatly having some strong twinges in my bump and back. Also feel pretty sick and cross and pacey if that makes sense

Not sure but I think something is happening..............just hope it keeps going!

MotherofPearl · 21/11/2011 15:07

Thanks Catgirl. Good to hear you're at least getting twinges. Yup, I too have spent waaaaay to much time on the birth ball, all of it entirely unproductive. Did I mention that I had a sweep last week and a show on Friday but still no contractions?! Argh, this is so unbelievably BORING!

catgirl1976 · 21/11/2011 16:32

Oh I had a sweep on Friday and a show on Saturday! We are pretty similar :( not sure thats something to celebrate but at least we are not alone!

I just keep telling myself it WILL happen.

But I am losing faith :)

nickelbabe · 21/11/2011 16:40

I have been bouncing up and down on my ball too.

do I have to have a show before anything happens?

catgirl1976 · 21/11/2011 16:53

No dont think so - I think lots of women dont have one or dont see it

Do you think the ball does anything? Am eyeing it up but so cannot be bothered!

nickelbabe · 21/11/2011 16:57

I don't know what the ball's supposed to do!
the Antenatal class lady recommended it for improving posture and making sure the baby sits in the right position.

Truffkin · 21/11/2011 17:37

I had a show on Saturday but nothing since. Should be going for a sweep tomorrow when I see the consultant, also spending lots of time on my ball (it's really comfortable too, so good excuse!)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/11/2011 09:46

Hello all. I'm 40+2 today and sick of waiting!

I've been having mild period pains on and off for 4 weeks now - nothing to worry me/keep me awake but i keep thinking...this is it... then nothing.

I'm having a HB with an IM so won't be looking at induction but expectant monitoring - still am very bored!! Luckily IM has delivered one lady at 43 weeks, so is very relaxed about things.
Don't forget - you can always refuse induction, irrespective of 'policy' and ask for regular monitoring of amniotic fluid, HB etc,

Per WHO you are not overdue till 42 +1.

Please let me go into labour.......!!

nickelbabe · 22/11/2011 11:00

and WHO also says that you can safely go 96 hours after your waters have broken before infection is a worry.

catgirl1976 · 22/11/2011 11:30

41 weeks now. Just had sweep number 2, got a score of 5 which is slightly up from 3 on Friday but still not very favourable. Induction on Sunday looks likely and I wanted my goddam hippy water birth. :(

Hope your sweep was better Trufkin........

Welcome MrsA

One of us is bound to have a baby soon!!!

handbagCrab · 22/11/2011 15:37

Hi all :) Bumped into catgirl on another thread but thought I'd post here too :)

41+2 today.

On sunday went to my mums. At 5 started having contractions that hurt & I couldn't talk through them. Rang local hospital & they said really I should try and go home to go to my hospital but it was really foggy and I was worried about getting stuck on the motorway and having to give birth on the hard shoulder! So I had a bath as this usually shifts braxton hicks for me. The contractions didn't stop and were getting longer and more frequent so we went up to the local hospital to get checked out.

I explained that I get very anxious when I'm monitored. So they did my blood pressure which was up as was my pulse (because of anxiety) so had to monitor me, even though I had explained and they'd understood.

My bp didn't go down quick enough so I was given medication to bring it down. After a bit it had come down and all the pains had come to a stop. So the doctor then said as they didnt know if my bp had come down anyway or had come down just because of the meds it would be advisable to stay in overnight to be monitored. So as I was really worked up I did. My bp is fine. My baby is fine. I was discharged first thing Monday morning. Which I pretty much knew would happen as the raised bp was anxiety related not a pregnancy thing.

I'm currently in a lot of pain with period type cramps but they aren't coming and going so I have no idea if this is it or yet another false alarm.

I just know I'm going end up being drugged up and made to give birth on my back either through induction or because of my 'high blood pressure' even though I have 9 months of records showing it's bloody fine!

All the staff in the hospitals I've been to have been brilliant and I know they just want what's best for me and the baby. It's just my stupid anxiety issues are not compatible with my hippy water birth ideas! Arrgghh!

I had a massage/reflexology treatment last night which was lovely and very relaxing and the baby seemed to like being massaged as he stopped kicking me for a bit. The treatment is supposed to bring on birth and ended with me being wrapped in a shawl and shook in a Mexican ceremony. loved it :)

Still trying to think positively but... Hope everyone else is having a better week than me :)

nickelbabe · 22/11/2011 15:44

oh dear.
First, you can refuse to let them monitor you (or at least, put you on a monitor)
if you want a water birth, you can insist on this, and you will probably find that it makes you a lot less anxious, so that when they take your blood pressure it will be more normal.
I advise you to write all this down. (that you get anxious and that's why your stats look bad)

If I were you, i'd carry on as you were - your own hospital knows your history - this lot were probably being over cautious.

catgirl1976 · 22/11/2011 15:51

Oh handbag :(

Finger crossed the massage does the trick xx
