Hi all

I'm due on the 11th of March, only 12 short days away now! DS (3.6) was 12 days overdue though, so am trying to tell my brain to stop getting excited - it probably has 24 days to wait!

I hated being induced last time so have laid it on thick to my consultant so he has agreed to start sweeps from today. I'm going in at 2pm to get one. Not pleasant, but if it hurries things along, worth it. It's good to feel like I'm doing something too.

Been trying to tell baby that I'm ready for her now - have packed my hospital bag, put up the cot and even finally caught up with the washing. The last load is in the machine now, such a good feeling!

I don't really have too much to moan about about from the usual tiredness and cant-ever-get-comfy-ness. I did have a lot of pain in my pelvis up until 33 weeks, but found a rather extreme way of making it better. DS and I were in a car crash after an old man pulled out right in front of us. As we crashed my legs were jammed out straight in front of me, standing as hard as I could on the pedals. I ended up with very bruised knees, but bizarely the force of the impact seemed to jolt my pelvis back into position a bit, so now as long as I'm careful and take it easy I've harldy got any pain. DS got a bump on his head, I think his feet flew up and got him, but apart from that we were both uninjured as were the old couple in the other car. We were incredibly lucky as both cars were a write-off.

So who else is in the last few weeks? I'll race you!

Me, me, me!! I have news!!! Millie was born at 9:00 pm yesterday weighing 8lbs exactly. Went to hospital at 8am only to be sent home because they were full. Called back at 3. They broke my waters but nothing much was happening after a couple of hours so I got the drip and an epidural put in at the same time - no way was I doing the drip again without the pain relief. Epidurals are brilliant! I could feel everything happening but with no pain at all. Pushing her out was an amazingly moving experience, with no pain I could concentrate on what was happening. Even better, from when contractions properly started my labour was only 90 mins and I only have a first degree tear that needed just a couple of stitches.

PS am so excited a thread I started made Discussions of the Day. Grin

Huge congrats sarah! brilliant news! All the best to you and the LO!

I hope i'm not far behind you :)

mumoverseas · 16/03/2011 12:21

Sarah congratulations on the arrival of Millie.
I'm not due but a really good friend of mine has gone in for a CS today and I'm looking after her little boy whilst she is in. Am sitting by the phone waiting for an update now. She swore blind she didn't know what she is having but I swear its a girl Grin

She is a bit sad though as her DS is going to be 2 on Friday and she will be in hospital still Sad

Cheria · 16/03/2011 13:02

Congratulations sarah - sounds like a wonderful experience.

I'm still contracting (day 9 or 10) but am only due tomorrow. Maybe she is going to be punctual - would make a change from the rest of us in the family.

1Catherine1 · 16/03/2011 13:10

Congratulations Sarah!! About time too.

Still waiting here with no signs what so ever of labour being imminent but I did dream I went into labour last night, was so disappointed when I woke up and realized it was just a dream. :(

Don't forget to pop onto the March thread and let everyone there know too although most of us are stalking you on here anyway Grin

Jupiter118 · 16/03/2011 13:39

Congratulations Sarah lovely news and it sounds like it went pretty smoothly.

Show continues here - horrid - cramps less bad today though.

Blood pressure not great though - the bottom number won't go under 90 despite GP making me take deep breaths and relax. Hospital tomorrow for scan and to see consultant - I live in hope that induction will be offered.

Sunday MW sounds awful - grrrrrr

StrangewaysHereICome · 16/03/2011 17:34

Congratulations Sarah wonderful news - Welcome little Millie Smile. And discussion of the day too Wink.

jupiter poor you I hope your bp calms down. I am sure when you are at home it will be lower - can a mw do a home visit for a check? I hope the hosp appt goes well. I feel sure there will be baby news soon - hang in there!

me23 · 16/03/2011 20:04

Congratulations Sarah well done!

I have news my water's have gone at 6pm in sainsbury's just waiting for contractions to start Smile

GeekLove · 16/03/2011 23:52

Congratulations Sarah! You've also made discussion of the day too. 40+6 and other than the odd twinge no show, nothing. Have a bit more energy during the day but this is erratic. More long BH contractions though. Heres hoping for a sweep on Friday...

haloflo · 17/03/2011 09:52

sarah Congratulations! Millie is a lovely name and you sound so happy.

Jupiter Maybe the stress of not knowing what is happening has caused your BP to rise? Hope you are ok and you get your baby soon.

me23 How exciting! That sounds so dramatic. I hope you are either well on your way or holding your baby in your arms.

Thinking of those overdue, still 3 days til my due date and feeling very heavy and tired so can only imagine how you girls waiting beyond 40 weeks feel.

Roxy33 · 17/03/2011 10:24

Congratulations Sarah.....I have news as well. Went into labour at 3am on Tuesday morning, baby Isabella was born at 9am. The hospitals were indeed busy - was left in the waiting room for an hour and by the time I got to a room I was 7cms dilated......all happened very quickly, didn't manage to get a epidural - doctor was gowned and standing behind me with the needle but the need to push came first. I had an episiotomy (2nd degree) and needed ventouse as they thought she might be distressed.....Hee hee, I wouldn't let go of my gas and air, they tried to wrestle it from me but i was clinging onto this for dear life. Good luck to all those who haven't dropped yet - painful but so worth it, would do it again in an instant (although may leave for hospital as soon as contractions start next time).

haloflo · 17/03/2011 11:25

roxy Congratulations! Thats great news! I hope you and Isabella are doing well.

SarahScot · 17/03/2011 17:18

Congratulation roxy! Another lovely name. Your labour sounds a bit fraught! Sorry you didn't get your epidural, I really am their biggest fan now!

me23, how about you? Baby here yet? Did your waters go in a gush or a trickle in Sainsbury's? Have a vision of you scaring your fellow shoppers. Smile

sundayb3st · 17/03/2011 19:05

Congrats roxy! all the best to you both!

40+2 for me and still no sign of a baby. But at least all our windows are now sparkling clean. I'm still having very strong BHs but then I've been having them for 3 weeks so I'm not really bothered by them any more.

Any more baby news anyone?

Jupiter118 · 17/03/2011 19:37

congrats roxy

No news here - 4 weeks of early labour symptoms and still nothing - really quite hacked off now. Two sweeps - mega amounts of bloody show since Saturday but still nothing. Hey ho guess it's not ready yet, but v v worried that it is going to be huge and just want it to be here safely as increasingly anxious.

There is some more baby news on the march ante-natal thread some of it awful am afraid to say - hence increasing anxiety.

Wishing you all well x

GeekLove · 17/03/2011 21:50

Hi folks,

I'm with you with the anxiety re the March thread. As for me I am officially 41 weeks today! Tried nipple stimulation but that seems to have mostly made the BHs a bit fiercer. Think the baby has dropped though. Thought I had the beginnings of a show but still nothing. Am feeling de-'motivated in part due to the weather and that my plan ed homebirth is starting to recede.

I do have a sweep tomorrow though.

SarahScot · 18/03/2011 11:04

I've just caught up with the March thread. Absolutely horrified at TooImmature's tragic loss of wee baby Thea. Life can be so unfair. My thoughts are with you and your DH TooImm. x x x

How is everyone today? Still hanging in there?

Millie slept from 8-12, 1-5, then 6-8 last night. She's an absolute dream! Here's hoping it wasn't a one-off fluke.

OP posts:
Jupiter118 · 18/03/2011 15:04

geek hope the sweep went well.

Sarah sounds good on the sleep front long may it continue.

V uncomfortable here - still loads of show, pressure in bits and bum and horrid tightenings nothing that makes me think it's imminent. Feet soo swollen today think only crocs will fit. Worried I won't actually recognise the real signs if they ever happen?

Bad nights sleep as felt like head not remotely near pelvis but pointing towards left thigh hip and back and bum sideways across bump dearly hope baby is not thinking of going transverse or something. Was v unpleasant as was all digging in when lay on left side. Tried right side but hip seized up and then got stuck like beetle on it's back.

Going to fetch DS from nursery and buy spiciest curry M's have to offer!!

Take care everyone!!

GeekLove · 18/03/2011 19:20

Had my sweep today - started the day with period like pains and sporadic contractions.'the sweep showed that I was 1cm and the cervix was soft. Not sure if that means it has dilated since this is pg#2 but at least it is soft. Then nothing in the afternoon although I have at least mowed the lawn.
Have had a couple of contractions in the past 30 mins though.'still no shownand waters intact.
Not sure how long this is going to last...

sundayb3st · 20/03/2011 10:19

40+5 today and nowhere near meeting my LO :(
Have had 4 weeks of BHs cramps and pains but baby is not going anywhere.
I've resigned to the fact that i'll have to go all the way...

msbossy · 20/03/2011 11:27

Now 40+1 (no great surprise given that DD was 8 days late) and as if having DH constantly telling me how tired HE is isn't enough, my mum keeps calling me twice a day for "news" Angry

missjackson · 20/03/2011 14:55

40 plus TEN today - do I beat you all? Grin
Sweep tomorrow though. Had some cramps last night but probably more to do with long walk yesterday. DH stepped up to the deed last night. 1 pineapple for breakfast. We'll see....

Come on babies!

haloflo · 22/03/2011 10:36

Hello! Any more news? Anyone still waiting? Am 40+2 today. Only 2 days over I know but I am starting to wonder if my body will know what to do?! I'm sure all first time mums think this though?

I am starting to wish they didn't give us EDD's as this extra wait is hard. I feel like I should carry on as normal but am worried about leaving the house "just in case!"

Btw geek posted on the March AN thread. Smile

sundayb3st · 22/03/2011 18:58

Hi still no news here. 41 weeks today! It's getting really frustrating.
Absolutely agree with you haloflo - i'm starting to doubt my body knows what to do and that i'll be able to have the birth i would like.
I have an appointment tomorrow so we'll see what the score is.
Come on babies!!!!

haloflo · 23/03/2011 09:28

Glad I'm not the only one sundayb3st but sorry you are still waiting.

Hope the MW appointment goes well. I have one tomorrow so guess I will find out what the score will be if i'm still waiting next week. Might head out into town today for a gentle wonder round. It supposed to be the warmest day of the year so far so it seems a shame to spend it inside.
