Hi all

I'm due on the 11th of March, only 12 short days away now! DS (3.6) was 12 days overdue though, so am trying to tell my brain to stop getting excited - it probably has 24 days to wait!

I hated being induced last time so have laid it on thick to my consultant so he has agreed to start sweeps from today. I'm going in at 2pm to get one. Not pleasant, but if it hurries things along, worth it. It's good to feel like I'm doing something too.

Been trying to tell baby that I'm ready for her now - have packed my hospital bag, put up the cot and even finally caught up with the washing. The last load is in the machine now, such a good feeling!

I don't really have too much to moan about about from the usual tiredness and cant-ever-get-comfy-ness. I did have a lot of pain in my pelvis up until 33 weeks, but found a rather extreme way of making it better. DS and I were in a car crash after an old man pulled out right in front of us. As we crashed my legs were jammed out straight in front of me, standing as hard as I could on the pedals. I ended up with very bruised knees, but bizarely the force of the impact seemed to jolt my pelvis back into position a bit, so now as long as I'm careful and take it easy I've harldy got any pain. DS got a bump on his head, I think his feet flew up and got him, but apart from that we were both uninjured as were the old couple in the other car. We were incredibly lucky as both cars were a write-off.

So who else is in the last few weeks? I'll race you!

Hi all! Sorry not had a moment to check in or read back but had a baby girl on Tuesday lunchtime. In the end (thankfully!) wasn't on this thread too long waiting for her! All went fine, active labour under 11 hours so quite quick. Now am trying to get to grips with feeding...

Good luck everyone. Hope there's lots of good news out there - will check back when I get a chance but (still unnamed!) lo has just woken up...

Xx

missjackson · 10/03/2011 13:52

Hi ladies... my due date today... my second baby. First was 11 days late after 2 sweeps so I am not holding my breath, but can't help over-analysing every tiny little twinge! I am sure you can all empathise.

sarah last time my MW did my first sweep at home, second in the clinic, just where we happened to be at the time.

No BHs at all for me, but have lost a bit of mucus plug last week and this morning - but no blood, so I don't think it means anything (from my over-googling!). Head is engaged though, so that's something at least.

Grrrr, why is it all so unpredictable?

SarahScot · 10/03/2011 14:17

sundayb3st, you sound as hacked off as me. Why won;t these babies just come out when they're told?

NowPanic congratulations on your baby girl, and I'm glad you seem to have had a 'nice' labour.

missjackson my frist was 12 days late and had to be induced despite 2 sweeps. You sound far more patient than me. I stupidly convinced myself again that I would go early, who knows why? My first baby was just under 9lbs so hopefully they'll induce me at 41wks this time.

No patience here! Just had a friend around with her toddler and 6 week old baby, and two looks 'challenging' to say the least, so I am trying to tell myself to take it easy while I can!

They will sweep at 41 weeks here, but am reluctant as even after 2 sweeps my labour took nearly 48 hours because I just don't think he was quite ready.

Ran around the garden with DS and little friend this afternoon and have mild crampy feelings now, but nothing really to get excited about!

Congratulations panic; we don't have a name ready for DD either; we just can't agree on anything!

Jupiter118 · 10/03/2011 17:27

Congratulations now panic!!

Had a sweep this pm - saw the same MW who said I could request one as per NICE clinical guidelines after 38 weeks. She also said that she was happy to do one not only because I requested but also because DS induced (with v quick results) at 38 weeks and I have history of pre-eclampsia.

So had one, like Sarah I found it didn't hurt, wasn't that uncomfortable apart from the whole someone talking to you whilst they have their hand up your bits as if this is perfectly normal. She said cervix was not dilated, but soft and was anterior (forward). She could feel babies head (which is the weirdest thing ever) and thought that it might have some chance of working. Head was 3/5 engaged - not bad for a second baby I think. I shall wait and see... but doubt it will have any impact.

TooImmature2BMum · 10/03/2011 17:43

Oooh, starting to wonder if something is happening! Had a sweep this morning - cervix v high up and midwife barely got finger to it, but now am getting crampy pains that have been coming every 4 minutes for the last 30 minutes or so...not sure whether this is grounds for calling the hospital or not. I also had a show at quarter to 5 - sudden gush of bloody discharge, but not very much, probably not even a teaspoonful.

Have ordered Indian takeaway - DH says he is starving, so he might as well have a nice big meal just in case this is it!

Roxy33 · 10/03/2011 17:58

Hey TooImmature2BMum, sorry this is a bit of a detailed question but the bloody discharge - did it just look like normal blood or was it mixed with other discharge? I just started to bleed a bit but it appears like normal bright red blood to me, nothing else and only a few spots. Sorry a bit of a personal question.

TooImmature2BMum · 10/03/2011 18:52

It was a bit more watery than normal blood. I think it probably was mixed with discharge.

Am definitely in pain now! Think this is it. Wish me luck!

SarahScot · 10/03/2011 19:37

OOOooooooooooooooo, good luck TooImmature, keep us updated.

missjackson · 10/03/2011 19:57

Sounds promising - I think once you get a bloody show, that's you on your way! Oooh, best of luck!

roxy I would call midwife to check - my 'show' last time was definitely mucus streaked with blood, not just blood.

Roxy33 · 10/03/2011 20:09

Sounds very promising TooImmature2BMum, good luck.

haloflo · 10/03/2011 20:34

roxy If you have red blood maybe call delivery anyway as you might need to be checked out? (Sorry if this is wrong/or you have already done this)

missjackson Happy due date, hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer.

jupiter Hope the sweep does the trick. Have you another booked in case this one doesn't work? I will get one at 41 weeks (currently 38+4) so glad to hear stories of it not really hurting!

Huge congreats to nowpanic on your DD.

Hope things are happening for strangeways

Nothing happening here. Saw MW today and baby is still 2/5 engaged, same as a week ago. I made another MW appointment for 2 weeks time when I will be 40+4. I feel there is no chance of me not making this appointment. Going to try to fill up my diary next week to make sure I have something to each day and then nap for the rest of the time!

haloflo · 10/03/2011 20:35

Oh nearly missed out tooimmature. I hope things are starting off for you!

1Catherine1 · 11/03/2011 01:05

{Waves to all the ladies from the March thread}

We now have a special thread just to moan on? :) so what is the other thread for? I've been using it to moan on for months Grin

Good luck TooImmature! Looking forward to hearing from you again later!

I'm due in 1 week and 2 days and today (Friday) will be my last day at work before the start of my ML! I'm so fed up of being tired, worn out, hormonal, uncomfortable and waddling!!! It feels good to moan :) This week I intend to eat lots of pineapples, curries and to my OH delight sex might even be back on the cards... I want baby out and I want my body back!!

SarahScot · 11/03/2011 09:38

Happy Due Date to me !!!

Hey Catherine you're still working at 39 weeks?! - you're hard as nails you are!

Apparently you need 30 whole pineapples (inc. skins and leaves!) to get enough enzyme. I did consider blending them to a pulp and downing them, but thought better of it.

Happy due date Sarah !
4 days to go for me...

Congrats now panic. I hope we are not far behind you :)

catherine - well done for working so long. I only finished working last week also. It was getting hard towards the end though, especially commute on the tube.

Come on babies!!!!!!

PussinJimmyChoos · 11/03/2011 12:43

Hiya all - can I join in Smile

Due date 25th March...was very twingey last night so got my hopes up but nothing today...I am sort of hoping baby is at least on time as thought of being overdue with the school run that I do x2 a day with DS is rather daunting!

Also have tingly fingers so think Carpal tunnel syndrome kicking in ....joy!

msbossy · 11/03/2011 18:09

Congratulations to those who've delivered safely :-)

I'm driving myself mad analysing my symptoms. The BH have continued and now I'm getting pains, but they don't feel like contractions IIRC. Have terrible insomnia and things taste odd today...

Must not get hopes up. 8 days still to go. DD1 was late. Must not get hopes up...

SarahScot · 12/03/2011 13:46

Ow ow ow ow! Just back from Asda and OW! All that walking and steering round people has buggered my back, hips and legs. Thought the walk might do me some good, but no, just pain, and not the right kind.

OP posts:
1Catherine1 · 12/03/2011 16:02

A day over now Sarah? Did you pulp those pineapples yet? Grin Don't know how you're managing - real sympathy for those over their due date.

I have 1 week and 1 day to go and aching all over and really had enough. Enjoying the first day of my ML by doing nothing - my OH asked me what my plan was for today and I told him I plan to sit in my PJs all day and do nothing! To which he replied "oh..." :)

StrangewaysHereICome · 12/03/2011 18:29

Hello, well finally he has arrived!!!! At 7.45pm on 10th March, a little boy Luke, weighing 8lb 10oz a full pound heavier than dd1.

He is absolutely gorgeous and we are all so smitten with him . 17 hours of erratic pre-labour, stop start painful contractions followed by 30 mins active labour and one push!! He caught everyone out, the midwife was halfway up the stairs and DH had a very quick lesson in how to be a mw's assistant .

On cloud nine despite no sleep Grin.

Good luck everyone, it will happen eventually. Luke was 11 days over and I was resigned to being induced but he did make his appearance. Take care all and lots of lovely labour vibes to you xxx

SarahScot · 12/03/2011 18:35

Aww, huge congratulations Strangeways.

30 mins of active labour? Eek! If that had been me I'd be having the baby in the car.

Catherine, not pulped the pineapples yet but may still get that desperate Grin

2 days to go...

So I thought that a very hot curry on Friday night, body pump class and a 3k walk on Saturday might do it. Erm... nothing. I think dh will have to step up tonight and do his marital duty :)

Congratulations strangeways!

me23 · 13/03/2011 14:52

Ow Ow I'm aching too! went out for lunch (which was horrible) then to tescos and could barely walk my pelvis aches Sad wish it was contraction pain instead.
We are going to do a trial run of the pool tonight can envisge me relaxing in pool watching broadwalk empire on sky+ with a raspberry leaf tea in hand Grin
