Hi all

I'm due on the 11th of March, only 12 short days away now! DS (3.6) was 12 days overdue though, so am trying to tell my brain to stop getting excited - it probably has 24 days to wait!

I hated being induced last time so have laid it on thick to my consultant so he has agreed to start sweeps from today. I'm going in at 2pm to get one. Not pleasant, but if it hurries things along, worth it. It's good to feel like I'm doing something too.

Been trying to tell baby that I'm ready for her now - have packed my hospital bag, put up the cot and even finally caught up with the washing. The last load is in the machine now, such a good feeling!

I don't really have too much to moan about about from the usual tiredness and cant-ever-get-comfy-ness. I did have a lot of pain in my pelvis up until 33 weeks, but found a rather extreme way of making it better. DS and I were in a car crash after an old man pulled out right in front of us. As we crashed my legs were jammed out straight in front of me, standing as hard as I could on the pedals. I ended up with very bruised knees, but bizarely the force of the impact seemed to jolt my pelvis back into position a bit, so now as long as I'm careful and take it easy I've harldy got any pain. DS got a bump on his head, I think his feet flew up and got him, but apart from that we were both uninjured as were the old couple in the other car. We were incredibly lucky as both cars were a write-off.

So who else is in the last few weeks? I'll race you!

No more pains today, was just my body playing a trick on me. Mean body Sad

Oh well, 21 more day maximum, that's if I go the full 12 days over and have to get induced. Boo hoo, that's 3 WEEKS!!! Getting another sweep next Monday and will follow it up with curry, sex and walking, possibly even all at once. Grin

Anyone else getting promising pains?

msbossy · 02/03/2011 23:04

No pains from anything other than agonising heartburn. Last night was so awful I decided early contractions are preferable!

Due on 19th. Dd1 was 8 days late so not really expecting any action for a while. However, Midwife delivered the kit for my homebirth yesterday so I'm all ready now (apart from needing to buy pramsuit, get car seat out if loft and nag DH to do the glossing in the hallway!). You can tell this isn't my PFB Grin

Good luck all!

SarahScot · 03/03/2011 08:15

Nag DH for the carseat ASAP. My DH got our moses basket out of the loft at the weekend and it had been all chewed by mice. Eeeeewwwwww! It went straight to the skip. I had thought the loft would be fine, we've never had mice in the house so assumed they wouldn't be up there either.

I've now got 8 days to go until my due date, so potentially 20 days until induction. Gah!

A few niggles here - 4 days over now Hmm. BH's coming and going but not painful particularly or regular. I've been doing this for weeks so who am I kidding!! It would be convenient today though as both DD's are out all day Grin so a bit of a duvet day for me. Saying that I might try and get out for a walk shortly to see if that gets anything going Wink.

Sarah sorry your pains have stopped, it's frustrating isn't it Confused.

me23 · 03/03/2011 11:20

Hi all can I join you? am 37+1 today recognise some of you from March antenatal club (waves hello Smile )

I'm due on 23rd with my 2nd I have a 5 yr old dd and am expecting a boy this time.

I'm planning a home waterbirth, mw is coming to drop off the homebirth kit tomorrow (so I really should be tidying up right now Hmm )

We haven't even set up the moses basket stand or the cot. Or checked how to fit the carseat!

In terms of pre-labour signs had very achey period like pain yesterday however I know this can go on for weeks so not reading anything into it. Also have had a lot more soft bm's in the last few weeks (sorry TMI) so also know this doesn't mean labour is imminent.

SarahScot · 03/03/2011 11:31

hello me23

This is my second too, I'm sure with my first I had no pains and nigggles in the weeks leading up to him being born. Seems to be constant now, but doesn;t really feel like 'real' pains in that they might actually be going somewhere!

I've done all my housework, baby's room is tidy, nappies etc bought and organised, bedside cot set up, car seat instructions read and ready to go, hospital bag packed . . . so what is this baby waiting for?!??!

Oh, I know, a name! DH and I cannot agree or decide on anything. I love Marnie, he hates it. I like Anya, he's a bit 'meh' about it. He likes Isla and Millie, I'm a bit 'meh' about them. Maybe if we decide now she'll come early for us?

Adding myself in... hello to all the March Thread posters.

Due Monday (7th) with number 3. No1 was bang on time and No2 the full 11 days late so am trying to prep myself for the long haul. We are looking I guess around 19th March if we end up with an induction again. Fingers crossed that wont happen.

TBH I just want DH off work to take DS1 to school as I am finding this increasingly a palava really although it is only up the road.

Just want to get on with things, get baby a passport book holiday, lose some weight for a massive family wedding in MAY - eeeeeek!!! Life is just ON HOLD for everyone.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2011 11:37

Oh Sarah I looooooveeee Isla - if we were expecting a girl she was to be Isla albeit spelt slightly differently for cultural reasons. We have had massive trouble with boys names.

SarahScot · 03/03/2011 11:40

How else would you spell Isla? I think Isla is probably our most likely option at the moment.

OP posts:
SarahScot · 03/03/2011 11:41

Also, when I see posts on the baby names boards everyone always says Isla is too popular and trendy. I live in Scotland and don't know any Isla's apart from an adult one, and Isla is a Scottish name. I assume it's 'popular and common' in England?

geisha · 03/03/2011 11:42

Hello, can I join? I am due on 13th but booked for elcs next Tuesday. This is dc3.

I'm fairly organised at home, but really anxious about the delivery for no good or rational reason (hormones).

We finally have names (just in the nick of time) and am looking forward to spending some last baby free time with DD''s this weekend!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2011 11:47

Sarah - we spell it Ayla which I appreciate would probably result in some mispronounciation in early days but we picked it as a Turkish name rather than associating it with Isla.

Apparently it is popular although I have yet to meet one myself. Regardless I think it is so pretty.

ckny1 · 03/03/2011 12:01

Sarah, your name choices are lovely and unique in my view. However, choosing the name hasn't motivated our little chubbers to move down! I am due in one week and STILL don't feel a thing!?!? WTF? I was out and about all of Tuesday & Wednesday, and yes, it's uncomfortable to walk a lot, but after sitting/lying down, I forget that I'm pregnant! I was worried this morning b/c LO wasn't so active, though now he's knocking about! :)

Am a bit freaked by the CS on Wednesday b/c am afraid the epidural will be poked into my herniated disc, and/or that my consultant may cut into my fibroid! She scheduled me to see the anaesthesiologist and radiologist on Tuesday so that they could give us better placements of my disc and fibroid, but the thought of missing, yikes! Shock

Aside from this, I was given a 2nd tour of the delivery and other rooms yesterday, and am super-excited!!!

Friends are asking if they can visit, which is nice since family is far away. I'm feeling as though I'll be a bloody mess in the days after...does anyone advise against this?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2011 12:08

ckny - I would say you will let them know. You might really want them to visit, you might prefer to be alone for a few days but you will only know how you feel afterwards so I would just explain that you will let them know.

Piffly · 03/03/2011 16:36

Wow irishqueen, that's amazing! Welcome Maeve & congratulations! Grin

ckny1 · 03/03/2011 18:15

Thanks, mixedmamma! This tactic seems to have worked well on the first friend! :)

SarahScot · 04/03/2011 20:16

That's me officially 39 weeks today and I'm so bloody tired I can hardly stay awake. Ugh!

OP posts:
ckny1 · 05/03/2011 10:51

Happy 39 weeks to us, Sarah and all! My belly is so gi-normous right now that I fear our LO is actually the size of an adolescent already! Shock My consultant was even shocked that I didn't have any stretch marks with such a massive expansion and my DH and I wonder whether the newborn clothes/nappies will fit! :)

TooImmature2BMum · 05/03/2011 15:46

Grr, ckny, my stretchmarks have grown and grown since about week 32 and are radiating further up my tummy every time I look! Envy The midwife kindly said they would all turn silver and more or less vanish. Hmm This is not as reassuring as I think she meant to be, as this is my first baby and I shudder to think what further pregnancies will do.

40+2 - I'm trying to tell myself that 2 days after an arbitrary date doesn't mean I will have to be induced, but it is hard! Especially when I am still symptom-less. And my entire family keeps phoning just to see if anything is happening. Dad called last night to ask if I thought he would be okay to have a drink, because he didn't want to be unable to drive if I suddenly went into labour! I said yes, have a drink - this baby doesn't seem to be going anywhere! Bless (but aaaarrgh!).

ckny1 · 06/03/2011 12:18

TooImmature, if it's any consolation, I have horrid stretch marks from late childhood...on my breasts and hips...looks like I was scratched severely and they stay white when/if I tan in the summer! Hmm, so am glad not to add to my collection. I've been dousing myself in pure vitamin E every morning, though don't know if this has helped since I've read that there's not much we can do, but it helped me with my adult chicken pock recovery.

Hope your dad enjoyed his drink and that you will feel something soon!!! :)

SarahScot · 06/03/2011 14:43

Well today I just feel exhausted, grumpy and ANGRY for no particular reason. Every movement baby makes hurts and/or makes me feel sick. I truly am a joy to be around.

Sent DH and DS out swimming this morning, I stayed in bed. Have been up for a shower but now back in bed watching Toy Story 3 with DS.

Got another sweep tomorrow at 9 a.m., am soooooooooooo hoping it works this time, although I will only be 39+3.

I got stretch marks in my teens too, they arrived along with my boobs and hips. I think some people just have non-elastic skin and no amount of bio oil etc can stop the evil stretch marks. A friend of mine has had 3 kids and had an ENORMOUS nump each time, yet within a month or so of birth she has a smooth stomach again. Just lucky genes I think.

OP posts:
SarahScot · 06/03/2011 14:44

bump, not nump!

nancydrewfoundaclue · 06/03/2011 15:04

Ah congratulations irishqueen

My DD2 arrived as plannned on thursday Grin she is fab. Very quick once the induction got going: 55 mins from waters being broken although I was having contractions and using gas and air for about an hour before.

Good luck to everyone else Smile

ckny1 · 06/03/2011 15:55

Yeah, congratulations on your new little girl, NancyDrew, and very efficiently done! :) Enjoy!!!

Hang in there, Sarah. I've just been a lump on the bed for days now, with occasional movements. May get up now to pee, eat, and possibly take my last yummy bath...EVER!

haloflo · 07/03/2011 10:19

Hi all. Can I join in? I was doing ok but had a funny 24 hours of symptoms and a rubbish nights sleep and now can't wait for this baby to arrive even though i'm slightly terrified about the massive change to our lives (expecting DC1). Am only 38+1 so know I could still be in this for for the long haul but fancied a big moan!

Period pains yesterday afternoon, during the night and some this morning (no pattern and definatly not close together)

Wet feeling in my knickers (just discharge i'm sure! - sorry if TMI!)

Aching legs that didn't seem to go when I slept. Going to put my feet up and do some stretches today. Maybe eat a banana or two as well.

The worst pins and needles ever! Woke up several times last time with numb wrists and hands. Add that into the toilet breaks and I think I saw every hour.
Clearly my circulation is rubbish!

Massive congrats to irishqueen & nancy and waves to those on the March thread.

Sarahscot I hope the sweep sets things off for you today and isn't too uncomfortable. I am a little scared of a sweep as i'm not entirely sure what they do but am aware several ladies say it hurts a lot. Not that its been suggested to me at this early stage.

mixedmama Happy due date, I hope DC3 is as prompt as DC1.

How is everyone else doing today? I hope for some good news on this moaning Monday morning.
