Sorry to be a moan-arse

I'm just fed up of the anticipation now, I hate not knowing what to expect :( One minute i'm fine then it gets to this time in the morning wheni'm at home alone - everyone else at work and my mind goes on overdrive.

The past week I have not been sleeping well at night due to thinking too much about labour/birth/after birth etc. and my back is starting to ache lying on my left grrr i try to alternate but have to go back to my left otherwise i worry!

Due date is Friday, I have my 40 week check two days early on wednesday and just eager to know if baby is still in a good position/ if my iron has gone up etc...

Its not knowing what to expect that is worrying me! feeling so pants today :(

anyone else in the same boat and fancy a moan? lol

I do sympathise

I'm not pg but have been overdue 3 times and it is truly rubbish, the hanging about waiting for something to happen

Is this your 1st baby? If not, how have previous labours gone?

WorrisomeHeart · 18/10/2010 11:19

dozey I feel your pain! Am 40+6 with DC1 and totally over this now. Have had one attempt at a sweep, have another booked for Wed and then induction booked for Sunday. Am feeling very Sad at the way things have gone and just want my baby!!!

Am off to find choccy biscuits - they tend to help!

Dozeyland · 18/10/2010 11:29

Yeah first baby so overly nervous!

I'm trying to be so relaxed about it, it's just one thought enters my head, then i just start thinking about anything that can go wrong/ what my first sign will be/ the PAIN/ dar-de-dar.... and so on...

How are youfeeling about the labour WorrisomeHeart?

Whenever I feel like crap I just want to sleep :(

plus i've got a stinking cold !

Good luck with everything Smile

FWIW, as it's your 1st I would really enjoy the chill-out time that is available to you atm!

I went 7 days over with DC1. I have very fond memories indeed of lying about on the sofa, eating lovely food and watching loads of films

Plus it's getting chilly now so you can get cosy under a blanket Smile

And I used to nap loads in the day as I didn't sleep well at night either

WorrisomeHeart · 18/10/2010 11:34

I was feeling ok about it all but now that it looks like I'm going to be induced I am freaking out, which really doesn't help! Am trying to manage the fear with hypnobirthing but am v worried about increasing levels of intervention and something going wrong with the birth. Yuck, just want the baby out safe and sound! TBH at this stage I would go straight for a c-section, so worried am I about the induction process.

Have you had any braxton hicks or anything yet?

Dozeyland · 18/10/2010 11:48

Yeah i've had braxton hicks from like 25 weeks. only like 3/4 a day. where as now i have loads a day. probably between 10-15 last a minute each time, getting stronger but not painful. I feel swollen down there too which is annoying me lol feels horrid.

no other signs.. i've been nesting but thats been going on for like a week or 2.

Its like fake signs lol

ow about you?

OP posts:
Dozeyland · 18/10/2010 11:49

Yeah its the intervention i worry about. the fact that i have no idea what kind of pain to expect, how fast or slow its going to go. and the fear of losing control. god help me. i've been so good until now lol

WorrisomeHeart · 18/10/2010 12:16

Yep, lots of BH's which turn into nothing - really irritating!

Hormone levels are high too, I keep crying at ridiculous things. I think my DH thinks I've gone mental! (actually I am wondering too Grin)

Dozeyland · 18/10/2010 12:19

Me too I cried everyday last week :o

I keep thinking "what a loser, pull yourelf together woman!"

I know BH's are such a trick!!

MW examined me last week and said babys head is engaged well (she could only feel the neck) and hatshe thinks im going to hav a very efficient labour? hmm wasnt sure how to take that.. good or will it feel like a bomb drops? lol

baby's got hiccups now haha

Hi I'm 38 weeks and feeling the same feed up!
My first arrived on his due date and second was 1 week early. Both big babies so just as well. Try not to worry too much it does tend to go slow and with my second I was so feed up with being so big I was quite pleased when the pain started. Although I was up all night with contractions (all manageable) had a sleep and then it all stopped didn't get started again till the following afternoon. Keep positive rest as much as possible. You will need your rest :)

WorrisomeHeart · 18/10/2010 12:58

Have just cracked open the box of choccys we got as a thank you for the m/w's and instructed DH to bring home another... Grin Poor baby will be wiggling all afternoon now!!

Dozey - great about the full engagement!

Dozeyland · 18/10/2010 13:06

Fair play about the chocs, i'm going to treat myself to a starbcks hot chocolate in a bit. and a caramel shortcake! lol

I'm booked in to see my MW on Wednesday but i've made an appointment for this afternoon just to have a chat about the birth, maybe she could make me feel more at ease (i use to work with her too) she's lovely.

Is this pointless??

WorrisomeHeart · 18/10/2010 13:13

Great idea re chatting to the m/w - I am storing up a heap of q's to ask mine on Wed about the induction - was really too shellshocked at the last appt. Nice to be able to do it in a laidback way too - good luck! (and enjoy the shortbread!)

sassie23 · 18/10/2010 13:45

glad to hear others eare in same position as me. Im 39 +1 and really fed up. Not sleeping at all up at 5am this morning after crappy nights sleep up peeing every half hour. So tired and started to read another thread about episiotomy this am which has started me worrying. I was quite relaxed about birth this time doing relaxation through hyno birthing but I had big boy last time and episiotomy and scared of having to have another. CS looking more attractive at mo. My lovely mum has DS this afternoon so in bed now but can't sleep again. GRRRR just want to be out the other side with baby now

DomesticG0ddess · 18/10/2010 15:28

I am due on Friday too. Just a reminder to everyone - step away from the any of the threads with anything nasty in the titles about childbirth!! sassie23 I have been listening to my hypnobirthing CD every night too - trying for a VBAC, but keep wondering if I am doing the right thing! I had a big boy by c-section last time, and am having another big boy.

I recommend reflexology for chilling out - plus they can work on certain points to help get baby on the move!

wannabeglam · 18/10/2010 16:50

To get in great position, lie on your left when lying down; get down on hands and knees as often as you can; keep knees lower than hips when sitting. I was told to do that and both babies in perfect position - could have been a coincidence, but I'd do the same again just in case. Don't panic in labour, focus on your midwife's voice and listen to your body - and if only using gas and air, really breathe it in hard. Good luck to you all and try and be excited rather than nervous - you're having a baby!

Sarahlou8 · 18/10/2010 20:02

Hi Dozeyland - I keep bumping into you don't I!!

This is number 3 for me and I'm still as nervous as the first time around. I'm finding it hard to focus on anything besides getting through the labour, and yet both the previous two were textbook, relatively easy births. I can honestly say the only time I felt out of control was in transition - just before getting the urge to push, and by then it's nearly over.

I remember the feeling with my first though -not knowing what to expect or how you will cope,I think you just need to keep an open mind and cope with each contraction as it comes instead of seeing it as one unsurmountable hurdle.

My God I should take my own advice! Grin

I'll be looking out for you - who's going first?? xx

Justanormalmum · 18/10/2010 21:03

Add me to the fed up list! I am 40+8 now with 2nd baby. First one was on time. Feeling really fed up. Hope everyone else is okay. x

sassie23 · 19/10/2010 09:26

WorrisomeHeart · 19/10/2010 10:10

Nothing happening here! He's officially a week late today Sad

sassie23 · 19/10/2010 10:21

Oh dear worrisomeHeart its so hard isn't it Im being positive this morning how long that will last no one knows!! You never know what will happen today Wink

Justanormalmum · 19/10/2010 10:44

Here's to positive thoughts that the babies arrive today! I am now 40+9. Oh dear. That really is late now isn't it? x

sassie23 · 19/10/2010 10:55

don't think late just think not ready just yet it will be very soon Grin

DomesticG0ddess · 19/10/2010 11:05

I am fine, rubbish nights sleep though. Am 39+4 today. Was 40+11 with DS. Hang in there everyone!

TheUnmentioned · 19/10/2010 11:15

Im not pregnant but have just had dd 3 weeks ago, she was 13 days late, as was ds who is now 3.

I just thought Id try and reassure you all a bit that I have had 2 induced labours, pessaries, waters broken, drip, the works and 2 relatively quick labours with no forceps or ventouse or anything. Both fairly big babies too.

Also, I know every hour day feels like a lifetime at the minute (I sat and cried for HOURS when my induction with dd was moved back a day) but its not that long in the scheme of things. There is a much higher chance of everything going ok and you having your wee bundle of joy in your arms very soon than anything going wrong, keep telling yourself that, you will get there.
