ive seen adverts for this on fb. they claim to be able to cure anxiety in young people. im suspicious - and nowhere does it tell you the cost. however im fairly desperate since my 16 year old is very disabled by anxiety. thanks

I've seen it too and almost been sucked in but I am also dubious and I saw a comment on one of their Facebook posts (which now seems to have been removed) where someone said it cost £5k!

On the basis of that I'm steering clear

lu9months · 09/05/2021 20:09

im also concerned that they dont tell you how much it costs until youve seen a webinar and had a long conversation with them

I'm hesitant. Feels abusive - suck you in emotionally before letting you know the price. Parents worry so much about there children and would go to extreems to see them well and they know this!

Kimchee21 · 11/05/2021 17:26

I have just watched the webinar and am curious as to how much it is so have signed up for the hour phone call tomorrow.
They say all the right things to suck you in but I will try anything now to help my 17 year old out.
I will be asking many questions and if any of you have any that you would like me to put forward I will do 🙌🏻
Another annoying thing is they send you a link to watch loads of testimonials but this in my head could also be a scam 🤗

lu9months · 11/05/2021 17:41

i did the phone call with them today. im probablknot going to proceed, though i am desperate. its £5500, and the coaches only qualification is that theyve been through the programme. id be anxious about this with vulnerable young people. some coaches are young people themselves. my husband felt it was like a pyramid scheme. they claim 100% success... but when pushed they say some people dont succeed ' because the parents dont engage fully' ie we are to blame if it doesnt work

Completely agree with this, it feels manipulative.

I can't believe the cost!!! If the founder is a previous anxiety sufferer and claims to be able to "cure" anxiety you'd think she would make it available for more of the population. What do you get for your £5.5k?!! Sounds like a mentorship programme to me and I tend to agree with your dh..... I'm sorry I know how hard it is when you feel desperate to help your child Thanks
MMMarmite · 11/05/2021 20:48

Don't do it, it sounds absolutely a scam.

What things have you tried so far? There are some good books and self-help courses available. Indeed, private one-on-one sessions with an experienced psychologist would work out cheaper than that "coach"!

Kimchee21 · 11/05/2021 22:27

Omg that’s ridiculous
I think I am still going to do the call and ask why it’s so expensive

Acorn51 · 11/05/2021 23:10

Has anyone actually done the course?

Acorn51 · 11/05/2021 23:15

I also have had a phone call. The idea of the stages sound plausible. But having had a second phone call with Carole I still feel hesitant. Why do I have to pay before meeting the coach? Why are those that go through now being trained as coaches for younger children. I think it is a pyramid scheme!

SingToTheSky · 11/05/2021 23:18

That sounds very much like a pyramid scheme. You could get a course of decent private therapy with someone properly qualified for less too.

emmamccabe01 · 12/05/2021 07:29

Hi I have just started this programme with my 15 year old daughter as like you I am desperate. I listened to the webinar and felt like it had be written for me! I arranged a call back and spoke to a lovely lady called Carol for over an hour. She was brilliant and gave me some hope for my daughter. I am not going to lie it is allot of money £5500 that you can pay in 2 parts but it is for lifetime support for you and your child. I am only just starting out, we have been assigned a mentor who seems lovely and my daughter will be starting sessions next week. This was my last resort and tobe honest I would try what have to try and have a better life for my daughter and myself.

emmamccabe01 · 12/05/2021 08:05

I just want to say I was very sceptical too but I am also desperate and CAHMS are useless. I can keep you updated on our journey.

Inthesameboatatmo · 12/05/2021 08:13

Google open learn free courses.
Loads on there about anxiety, panic attacks and strategies to help cope and such .

Many of us can understand that desperate feeling Thanks

I'd be interested to know how you get on and what exactly you get for your money....

emmamccabe01 · 12/05/2021 10:44

I will see how it goes and update you :)

lu9months · 12/05/2021 12:56

Hi, I shall have a look back on here too as I am keen to help my daughter. She took an overdose a couple of weeks back, we have just started with CAMHS but the feeling of doom and anticipation is very hard to shake off and I am looking at all solutions to try and help atm. Thank you

Twoandtwois6 · 13/05/2021 13:18

Hi have unfortunately signed up for this programme and am trying to get my money back. They are taking advantage of desperate people, they are unprofessional, unqualified and the lady who runs it is threatening and rude. My advice is to stay well away. The most important part is my daughter and she is still anxious and this whole experience has made her feel worse.

Twoandtwois6 · 13/05/2021 15:25

It is a pyramid scheme, everyone gets offered a job, they offered my 18 yo daughter a job as a mentor but her anxiety was still the same. I pushed for more than just scientific theory aout adrenalin and they got nasty. I am so sorry for anyone with anxiety or children with anxiety but your child freeedom formula is not the answer.

That's so disgusting and exploitative, I'm so sorry Thanks
AccidentallyOnPurpose · 13/05/2021 16:13

If you have the money for this why not try private options first? Counselling, psychologists, meds etc.

Between CAMHS and random private company that charges a lot with no qualification or studies there are many other avenues in between.

I wouldn't trust anything tbh that claims to 100% cure whatever, especially when it comes to mental health and the various factors that contribute to someone's illness.

It's just like the miracle cures for cancer. Highly emotive, manipulative and predatory relying on people's desperation and pain to make money .

MummyKat2 · 13/05/2021 19:03

My friend and I have teenage daughters suffering from anxiety and depression. We came across these people on Facebook and we decided that one of us will make thr call to see what it would cost. My friend spoke with them and expressed that the whole experience is emotional blackmail. The lady even said to her that it's not like she's on benefits and can't afford it. They then suggested a finance option and a company that can offer a loan. She told them where to go. For those that do not want to waste their time, what they claim to offer is a 20 minute session talking to someone 4 times a week all done online. Just take a look at the owner's LinkedIn page. She has no background in this area other than her own experience. She has no background in any type of employment full stop. Her only qualification is a NFCE certificate. £5500 can get plenty sessions with a qualified clinical psychologist. They are taking advantage of desperate parents who want to see their children get better.

MMMarmite · 13/05/2021 19:19

These companies make me so angry. They're preying on desperate people and making their lives even harder.

Depending a bit on what part of the country you're in, £100 can buy you an hour's one-to-one session with a highly experienced therapist. So your child could receive expert support for a whole year (they may need far less than that). And if at any time you weren't impressed by the quality of the therapist, or just thought they weren't the right fit, you could stop, and pay nothing further.
