Of course it's a load of money making bollocks. Anyone with half a brain can see that a mile off Hmm

SwanShaped · 16/05/2021 06:33

Oh god I just looked up the Linden method! Also says it will never fail. Even for anorexia. But you only find out the secret if you pay first. And that after one day you’re 95% on the way to recovery. If this were true, they’d be worse than big pharma for corruption and money grabbing. Imagine having the cure to something so debilitating and not letting everyone know the secret.

If you would consider £5k for this, can't you start paying for private counselling instead?

Don't do anything untested with your children!

mynameiscalypso · 16/05/2021 06:51

@AngieOzMum

It’s just so sad that all these kids are thinking they are going crazy (and probably feeling shame) and it’s just adrenaline and a very natural reaction to being in a world or situation they are in. That these kids have creativity and imagination in spades fires. All kids are precious but some think a bit deeper or are more sensitive (or in tune with their feelings) and they are more vulnerable right now. And these kids will go on to change the world - if we show them the way forward without drugs and negative labels. They are the artists, the entrepreneurs the creators. The future. Sending them back to schools with zero imagination and expression (art/dance/music etc) will make it worse. Help them to find their tribe... Sam”s young mentors will help give them that feeling of belonging. Good luck everyone but honestly help is at hand. I am so grateful for Sams approach - if you are ready for a change jump in. Highly recommended. www.yourchildfreedomformula.com
FFS. Apart from the damage this can cause to kid, I really hate how this stigmatises mental health conditions. There is nothing wrong with suffering from anxiety (or anything else). It's not a failing anymore than it's a failing to suffer from hayfever or eczema. Mental illness doesn't need to have (a totally made up) physical cause. This kind of language is so dangerous.
mynameiscalypso · 16/05/2021 06:52

@AngieOzMum

It’s really not about the money. So destructive to be so cynical - that everyone’s in it for the money. It’s a worldview that is driving many kids to not want to be here. Sam and all her team could not be kinder. I implore you to drop the cynicism and give it a go.
I think I'll stick to actual medical professionals who have actual training (and are regulated by a professional body).

So Sam has got a 100% success rate of curing anxiety when the thousands of academics, parents, doctors, nurses, psychologists and counsellors over the years have failed? Money has been spent on research, thousands of dedicated people have been searching for how to help fix anxiety. And then all of a sudden, one unqualified woman comes along and suddenly knows how to cure it with 100% success rate?

SandysMam · 16/05/2021 07:11

If it walks like a duck…

TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 07:33

Angie and Emma appear to be setting up a false dichotomy. It isn't CAMHS/NHS or their method.

It is CAMHS/NHS or private pyschiatrists /psychologists/ therapy/ counselling or their method.

Other private methods explain their techniques and prices on their websites. The users of it are also able to explain what happens and approximately why.

If this technique was so fabulous, why haven't other private people picked it up? As a PP said, why hasn't the NHS picked it up? Where are the scientific studies comparing this method to others?

You sound completely brainwashed.

My child does not fit in with the "creative and imaginative active" narrative. Sounds like a load of expensive tosh to me.

I was wondering the same thing about if they were the same people. Even looked out for the same spelling mistakes as the writing style was similar. Didn’t know you could ask MNHQ about that. I hope this thread ends up being helpful to other people, and that the families with children who have anxiety find something that helps.

emmamccabe01 · 16/05/2021 08:44

Just to clear this up I am my own person, I am not Angie. I have my own opinions and they just so happen to be the same as Angie's as we are both doing YCFF. I can understand how most people would think this is too good to be true but this is the only thing I have felt hopeful in for my daughter to get better. If your children have been suffering for a while and have seen psychologists, therapists, CAHMS, had CBT etc and it hasn't worked I would say try this. Why wouldn't you?
This formula is not dangerous to children its allot about educating them on what anxiety and resetting there adrenaline levels in there body. Talking therapies dont help because they make them relive the things that give them the anxiety in the first place thus releasing more adrenaline! There is allot more to it than that but it all makes so much sense so far to me. And I want my daughter to feel better and I want to feel better. I am a real my mum worried about her daughter.
I am doing this and either way in 2 months time I can tell you how it went.

SwanShaped · 16/05/2021 08:46

And I’m not anti paying for help. But if I wanted to pay for CBT or Gestalt, or any type of therapy, I could look at how it works first. And think, hmm, I like the sound of CBT. There’s text books on both, none of it is hidden. There’s no secret around the methods and no promise of a cure. If I went to a counsellor they would say that I could try out one session first to see if we get on. Not have a huge financial commitment or get a discount if I also became a counsellor. Imagine trying to sign someone up to being a counsellor when they’re not recovered yet! And might not even want to be a counsellor or even be suited to it or have the time commitment.

If I wanted tablets I could look at all that too, find the research papers and see who had written them. See if that paper was funded by big pharma or not.

I think what this shows is that there is a huge gap in provision for young people. Everyone knows how underfunded camhs is and it’s hard to get seen. But to try and make money out of people’s distress, love for their children, and give them false hope, is a terrible thing to do.

TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 08:46

What has been helping my DD is:

  1. Drugs to control the panic and reset chemicals
  2. Counselling about the long term issues that triggered the anxiety

and hopefully starting soon now she is more level
3) CBT to help her address issues 'in the moment' . Up to now she wouldn't have been in a position to try CBT as no mental focus to put things into practice.

emmamccabe01 · 16/05/2021 08:52

It's mad really how suspicious people can be thinking that someone would actually pretend to be someone else to promote something.
I am being totally honest here I am a mum of a 15 year old that has been suffering with anxiety for almost 3 years. I don't 100% know if this yourchildfreedomformula is going to work but I am doing it as nothing else has.

SingToTheSky · 16/05/2021 08:53

Yes and that other desperate parents are warned off this rip off “cure”.

Quite how they can justify it being successful when they have only been around a short while I don’t know. Have they ever heard of relapses? 🤔

It’s normal when you begin a new treatment or course to rave about it and feel elated but that’s often short lived and then mood can plateau or dip.

I know a bit (from personal experience rather than academic/professional) about the physiology of anxiety, but it seems like they’re reducing it all to adrenaline?! (Granted I haven’t watched the videos etc.) I’d love to know what an actual psychiatrist or neuroscientist made of that. Even a quick google shows it’s a lot more complex. 🙄

Not to mention the fact that anxiety can stem from trauma, and from being autistic to name but two. Are people with other reasons for anxiety eligible for the course? 🤔

emma What have you tried up to now? How bad has the anxiety been?

SwanShaped · 16/05/2021 09:12

Sounds positive your your daughter teen She must have put in a lot of work to achieve all that so far.

TeenMinusTests · 16/05/2021 09:38

We've still a long way to go Swan.

DD has been out of school/education since Easter last year. At her worst she was huddled up in a hoodie in the heat of the summer worried about flies attacking her and germs leaping off bollards or lampposts onto her if she was within 1metre of them. She was doing 1hr work with a tutor per week, but missing some as couldn't cope. Nightmares at night and sleeping in until 11/11:30am.

Since this Easter she has been managing a little work each day, some independent work, and is sitting a few GCSE assessments at home. She has on good days made it into (near empty) shops. She is sleeping better, waking before 8am and has more energy.

The target is to be able to attend college in September. It isn't a shoe-in yet, but we are more hopeful.

The drugs & counselling combined have made the difference imo.
