Blood test yesterday: Serum CA 125 level over 35 indicates possible cancer. Mine is 213. Shit.

DH knows and one friend but I don't want to worry anyone else until I know how bad it is; hence I've name changed for this post. I'd love to know how anyone else has coped / is coping.

CT scan Saturday and USS on Monday. GP has made 2ww gynae referral today.

Hi Joy and Mr Joy
I read your thread earlier and same as everyone else here I'm sending lots of healing hugs and hopefully the next update is a positive one in going forward to getting well again
Take care xx

It's a common courtesy when commenting on a long thread to at least read the OP's posts before adding a post. "See all" at bottom right on the original post (or any of the OP's posts) allows readers to read everything the OP has written.

That way it's possible to be up to date on the OP’s situation and see if they've already answered the point you want to make.

And it’s common courtesy to show kindness and grace to accept an apology from someone when they apologise for what really isn’t a mistake. You’re sort of missing the whole point of this thread which shares much love and concern by you nasty and mean spirited response.

Thank you for showing me the error of my ways.

Apologies. I didn't realise the original post was from a while ago. Big hugs to OP.

Hopefully @Ohjoyohbliss will feel better soon. She’s in the right place at least 😊

Weepixie · 11/09/2025 12:50

It’s very concerning that as quickly as Joys posts escalated they’ve come to the same kind of halt.

Im hoping for the best.

Still thinking of you, Joy 💐

Ohjoyohbliss · 12/09/2025 15:44

Honestly, you lot! Turn my back for a minute and you're all fighting in lumps and Mumsnet police had to step in and restore order. Behave!

Seriously, thanks to everyone who handed the "don't worry, it might not be cancer" brigade their arses on a plate. I've skim-read and will try to go back and read in full.

The update:

I've been very poorly since my readmission last weekend due to an infection. Spent days on IV antibiotics and fluids. Then days more unable to eat, drink or swallow pills due to uncontrollable sickness. Lost 6.7kg in a week.

Sickness is finally subsiding - touch wood, don't want to jinx it! Now I have to concentrate on eating, drinking and mobilising (I'm very wobbly) before I can go home again.

My next chemo is due a week today and then the whole merry-go-round starts again.

It's great to see your update, not good you've been so poorly but lovely that you're well enough to post an update, keep doing what you're doing x

What she said

Weepixie · 12/09/2025 15:50

It’s so good to see you Joy. You've certainly been through the mill and I hope you feel a whole lot better soon.

Re the ‘it might not be cancer brigade’. Honestly, they don’t deserve the harshness, they posted in good faith even if they hadn’t read the full thread.

Dont stay away so long next time. 💐

Enigma54 · 12/09/2025 15:57

@Ohjoyohbliss If the sickness behaves, perhaps try those Ensure drinks, through a straw? Little sips at a time. The dietician might prescribe you them. Flavours include banana, vanilla and chocolate ( there could be more).

Really hoping things settle for you. I’m guessing the sicknes was chemo related? What anti sickness have they settled on for you?

Moreteaandchocolate · 12/09/2025 15:59

So good to hear from you, Joy, sounds like you’ve had a horrendous week, but glad you’re getting stronger and are starting to eat and drink again.

Dietician has prescribed Fresubin Protein Energy drinks but they are so thick and claggy (is that a Yorkshire word?) that I struggle to down them. Also Cal-shake, which is far more palatable but only if the milk is really cold. Got served one at room temperature and it was horrid.
