Camping

Our UK Camping forum has all the information you need on finding the right equipment for your tent or caravan.

Enough already about roof boxes and fat airics. This is much more important. Camp Kitchens Table Set-Ups: are you a more impressive camper with one?

We have an Aldi fold up table. It is not cutting the mustard. My mate had a whole fold out table fandango with many levels upon which to put things. I coveted it.

What have you upon which to place your stove?

in my pic aitch?
That's a sunshade that was at the campsite. It was made out of a tree trunk so you probably couldn't fit it in the roof box

me too
night all.

I'm getting too old to sleep on the ground now though, it is getting painful. DS doesn't seem to have any problems with it though lol

Hammocks are the biz, absolutely brilliant provided the campsite has trees you can sling them between. Ours are made out of parachute material so back up really small and light. We use them abroad more than in the UK though.

Poppity · 03/06/2009 23:33

Thanks Aitch, that's a nifty thing, those stools look waaay too wobbly for my balance-challenged DCs though.

Love the hammocks

We have a trailer tent, OMDB, I am shamed.

We do do real camping too, honest. Just for shorter periods

Overmydeadbody · 03/06/2009 23:34

Night all. I love these camping threads too.

Poppity · 03/06/2009 23:35

Night!

AitchTwoOh · 03/06/2009 23:36

dd aged 3 was fine on her stool, i feel obliged to point out.

expatinscotland · 03/06/2009 23:41

Nope! It goes on a table from ASDA. This a big step up from my real camping days, which involved squatting on the ground trying to unclog the fucking line on the MSR whisperlite in the vestibule and the metal screen secured with a bulldog clip.

Poppity · 03/06/2009 23:44

Well that confirms it, it's my children then. They are too wiggly I believe.

Have to go to bed myself now. Night

blithedance · 03/06/2009 23:49

I have the PIL's old kitchen stand from the 1960's (became reduntant when they upgraded to caravan). It's steel painted blue and the fabric zip up storage bit is in fabric like this

eat yer heart out Cath kidston!

expatinscotland · 03/06/2009 23:52

My motto for camping has always been: the cheaper, the better.

bramblebooks · 03/06/2009 23:53

Off to bed in 10, one last correction to make to DS2's crazy blood sugar (and my blood alcohol level).

I shall take up your offer, slubbers. I am currently wondering if hens need thermarests. There is a whole new market out there somehow.
