Enough already about roof boxes and fat airics. This is much more important. Camp Kitchens Table Set-Ups: are you a more impressive camper with one?

We have an Aldi fold up table. It is not cutting the mustard. My mate had a whole fold out table fandango with many levels upon which to put things. I coveted it.

What have you upon which to place your stove?

Even I, a minimalist camper, always take an espresso maker with me. It's really easy: fill pot with water, fill coffee bit with coffee, screw top on, put on hob, wait for it to boil ans hiss.

I put my stove (well campingaz bottle) on the grass in front of my tent. Food is in a crate. I have one saucepan.

I do always take proper salt and pepper grinders though.

ingles2 · 03/06/2009 22:56

nope,,, don't think so slubber.
especially if you put your pans in the bottom

Slubberdegullion · 03/06/2009 22:56

baldy tis is my only topic in active convos. Active convos is just a lovely long list of kit and campsite talk. [bliss]

Did I ever tell you about the time I camped for three weeks with DS with just a tarp and a pen knife?...

(wanders in to thread).. if you are taking larders, and microwaves, why not, er stay at home (wanders off, desperate for a tent so i can join in)

Overmydeadbody · 03/06/2009 22:59

I like the look of that outdoor sunshade ingles, how big is it though? would it get in your car?

I camp in Euroe a lot, but we don't tend to spend much time in the campsite during daylight hours.

SheherazadetheGoat · 03/06/2009 22:59

tarp - that is luxury. i gather bark and create a temporary yurt using mud and spittle. meh!

Ivykaty44 · 03/06/2009 22:59

flat rocks make very good plates and chopping boards. FLint is surprisingly effective as a knife.

looks quite big doesn't it OMDB...surely it's only a couple of poles, a bit of cloth and some string.
Stick it in the roof box!

Overmydeadbody · 03/06/2009 23:01

Glad I'm of some use Slubber

I secretly covet all your fancy equipment though

Slubberdegullion · 03/06/2009 23:02

My pans stack like baldy's, and my stove turns, transformer like, into a griddle. Oh yes, my sausages come with stripes.

My mum threw out my treasured stacking shelf system complete with cooker WITH A GRILL and and functional windbreak on the grounds that it was cluttering up her garage and that it had not been used for 20 years

AitchTwoOh · 03/06/2009 23:04

'FLint is surprisingly effective as a knife.' rofl. well, yes.
