We are 'doing' scotland this summer.

I have booked a cottage in skipness, right on the beach (so the kids and I can go if dh needs to sleep). I have also booked 3 days in a very family hotel in Drumnadrochit (sp???) for a bit of luxury.

We migh also go back (just dh and me) to the place we went on honeymoon, but if I am honest I'm not 100% sure I can cope with the emotion of that bit. We'll see.

Still miss the smell of coffee in the morning and bacon cooking!

We'll go again next year. All new places with no memories.

Lucycat · 02/04/2007 14:52

oh mb......I don't know what to say....the honeymoon place....I'm sure it'll very special for you both.

Scotland is truly beautiful - take the midge cream, they seem to find you tasty iirc?

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2007 14:58

Look here is where we are going in June.
Dd will sleep on a camp bed but I doubt my hefty little lad, now 14 months, is going to fit into his carrycot like last year!!
What shall I do with him this time?

Blandmum · 02/04/2007 15:02

lloks fab Mrs D. Very

Will take lots of midge repellant!

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2007 15:23

Thanks mb.
I think I should start looking forward to it soon, the weather is changing.....

PeachyClair · 02/04/2007 17:32

looks good- we have a similar tent shape-wise.

Sal, they ahve a Vango Idaho in Raglan for £125 we saw today, perfect for weekends!

crunchie · 02/04/2007 20:02

mb am I right that your dh is feeling better now and you'll be off to france too ?? I really hope so

Blandmum · 02/04/2007 20:14

no, sadly not. He is feeling better, but camping in france is off the cards, he needs a proper bed and a loo.

He is well enough for holidays, but camping is too much. Also risk of infection etc

I'll go 'after'

PeachyClair · 02/04/2007 20:44

MB don't some of the forest holiday sites have cabins now? Knowing you like those sites.

Blandmum · 02/04/2007 20:48

We are off to a tin tent this week. the caravan we have booked has a proper bed and a bathroom (two in fact) so dh can manage that OK.

It is jusr he isn't up to 'real' camping

He says it is an unxpected side benefit, since I have always been keener on camping than him!

Don;'t worry, we have lots of fun things planned. We just have to be a bit more careful , thats all.

crunchie · 02/04/2007 20:56

sorry

crunchie · 02/04/2007 20:56

sorry

Blandmum · 02/04/2007 20:59

oh, don't worry sweetheart. It is just one of those shitty things. You could be expected to know.

It is great that he is so much better, we can do lots of fun things. but at the same time it is tough because I know it will all change again. Catches me out sometimes. But mostly we are OK.

about to have a soak in the hot tub!

marymoocow · 02/04/2007 22:02

We finally got our Indiana 8 replaced and up at the weekend. Got the erection down to 30 minutes which i was really impressed with. oooh and we have a doormat and a thermometer .
First trip planned in 9 weeks, and counting...............

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2007 22:13

My that is a long erection

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 09:25

Mrymoocow we're hoping to get an Indiana- how do you find putting it up?

Blandmum · 03/04/2007 09:31

If it is as much like the colorado it replaced, it a dead easy. I can put it up on my own in 30 minutes. Fully pitched.

In fact I have pitched it alone, and taken it down alone. Hardest thing is getting the bugger back in the bag!!!

Lucycat · 03/04/2007 11:29

PeachyClair - an Indiana!!!!

What have you done with your Gelert?

btw marymoocow - well done on the erection time, they are straightforward aren't they?

I'm going to buy a doormat today - hennipenni told me you can get them for £3.99 at Yeomans as for the temp gauge, i'd rather not know that it's -2, like it was at one point last Whit!

Blandmum · 03/04/2007 11:33

God, it was cold last whitsun! I was so glad we took ruds as well as our sleeping bags! (at my incsistancem dh said not to bother ) In the evening we all snuggles under the rugs, ate biscuits and drank hot choc while watching dvds.. It was too cold to be out after about 8.30!

Lucycat · 03/04/2007 13:17

I know mb, but I think it was partly because the weather was good during the day - fantastic star gazing, but freezing!

we even had a fan heater just to warm us up before getting into the sleeping bag - I hope Wales isn't as cold this Whit!

Blandmum · 03/04/2007 13:19

and I wore socks and a jumper to bed!

Great weather in the day, but damn it , it was cold at night!

Lucycat · 03/04/2007 13:25

Our pitch was quite exposed so although we had fantastic views across to Harlech Castle it meant that we got the morning sun, the tent was like a sauna by 8am - felt a right berk in socks, PJ's, super warm sleeping bag inside our Ready bed and a blanket - I couldn't breathe

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 19:36

Luce we still love the Gelert, unfortunately several campsites we love don't like the size . Now that does Eff me off a bit, as they are quite happy to take for five people price wise, then they get anrked that we need a tent that fits us all but the C&camping club specifis max 4m on one dimension now (ours is 6.5 on both) and otherwise we pay double. We're thinking either tunnel or frame for the trips where they get funny (usually breaks as opposed to full weeks anyhow) and then still take the Gelert where we can- Nodes, Pentewan, etc.

Should we have twins at any pint the C&CC also won't have more than 6 to a tent either so we'd be out- why?????????

Lucycat · 03/04/2007 20:51

How weird!

How would they react to an 8 berth caravan/motorhome I wonder?

methinks that's just tentist that is......

So you'll be a 2 tent family, mind you we have 3

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 20:56

The max dimensions are 5 X 9, so allowing alrge motorhomes (and many large tents of curse- tehre's some monsters we could fit in), they just seem to be anti the geodesic style ones. I suppose (grudgingly) I can see that they want to fit in as many as they can {grumble grumble grumble] but bringing in this rule six months after we joined is rather annoying (year long membership).

Dh says if I am a nice girl to him I can have the Indiana for Easter. I suspect he dosn't mean polite and making a nice cup of tea LOL
