I am at my highest weight since being pregnant 10 years ago. I am 14 stone and 5ft 6.
I just couldn't stop eating/ bingeing and saw myself go above 12, 13 and now at 14 stone. All put on in a year - a stressful year.

I've resorted my fitbit, got the app and walked 5k yesterday and today with an aim to eat 1200 calories. But food is my mental comfort. Gah
I need new clothes now I'm too fat for everything I own.

OP posts:
duckii · 22/10/2018 16:19

You're right it does take time. I think it starts off with looser clothes, you noticing your weight loss then later others will notice.
I can't wait for a 2 stone weight loss but I've accepted that it will take time. No rush!! (Except I really wanted to lose a stone for my special birthday, that's 5 weeks away...) but as long as I loose any amount, I'll be happy.

What's for dinner tonight?

HelloViroids · 22/10/2018 16:37

Hello, can I join? Was obese after comfort eating through depression and various changes of anti depressants, then got pregnant and gained 7lbs, then had a miscarriage... now try to get back down into the “overweight” bracket before conceiving again!
So far I have gone from 14 st 3.6 to 13 st 5.8 using MFP (although that was before my extremely indulgent weekend, and haven’t weighed in since...)
Would be lovely to have company! Smile

HelloViroids · 22/10/2018 16:42

That was maybe not very clear - I was already obese and then gained another 7lbs...,

ThrownMuse · 22/10/2018 20:33

Ah Duckii, I forgot we were birthday month twins! Let's aim for the 3 pounds 3 weeks challenge! Even losing a pound a week means 10 pounds by Christmas. Not too shabby!

I had a ready meal and peas, as DS had a playdate as I had a lecture until 4.30pm. So we all ate on different time zones tonight! How was your soup?

Welcome, HelloViroids! I am so sorry to hear your sad news, and I hope you are feeling as ok as you can be.

You have done so well, losing that! I also do MFP and it's really helped me to see my portion sizes go down. As you can see, we all still like the occasional indulgence (Friday is WINE and USUALLY A CURRY AND CERTAINLY SOME NUTS FRIDAY for me, and I will fight anyone who tells me differently).

Lovely to have you with us, we are all emotional eaters, so no judgement here, just suport.

ThrownMuse · 22/10/2018 21:02

*support even...

duckii · 23/10/2018 03:57

I'm with you on that challenge @ThrownMuse 10 pounds by Christmas would be an amazing start!! Let's do this.

Soup was good, lots leftover so soup again today.

It feels like the end of the week but it's only Tuesday!

Welcome @HelloViroids I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. You've done really well to lose that amount. MFP really helps me too. I'm a big comfort/emotional eater, so I understand.

How many calories is everyone aiming to eat a day?

ThrownMuse · 23/10/2018 04:51

Indeed, Duckii! We can!

Looks like we have both had a broken night - no idea why I have woken so early! It's going to be a long day!

I tend to hover around 1200 cals (asides from Friday of course!). I could eat more but I set the MFP to lose 2 pounds a week.

Happy Tuesady all.

duckii · 23/10/2018 05:17

Oh no. You're up early. I'm still up. DD is actually asleep but the strong winds are keeping me up.

Happy Tuesday to you too!

ThrownMuse · 23/10/2018 05:20

God, we are going to need lots of coffee today!

DS at a holiday club from 10am-4pm and I'm working from home. Hopefully I can resist the urge to take a nap...

OperationTransformation · 23/10/2018 07:42

Hello all! Sorry I disappeared there. I did my usual weekend disaster zone. Friday night mucked up then friends for dinner Saturday so less than angelic - though probably not really bad, just not counted - and by Sunday not a calorie logged, As usual back on it yesterday.
I was lying in the dentist’s chair yesterday having a root canal and thinking about it. As you do. I’ve a big birthday next year and I’d like to have lost weight for then. If I don’t start now I won’t have made enough difference. Also I’m probably having a weekend away in Feb and March - my birthday is going to be a lengthy affair! - so I need to sort myself out a bit before then. I need to crack the weekends, starting with this one.
Hello to Duckii and HelloViroids! We’re all in the same boat really! 10lbs for Christmas sounds brilliant.
Have a good day everybody! Strength and Purpose!

HelloViroids · 23/10/2018 08:32

Just weighed in (after a good day yest) - down 0.2 of an lb from Friday, taking me to 12lbs total loss in exactly 5 weeks of trying Grin
I’m doing 1280 calories per day, and I’d like to aim for a stone for Christmas - just need to remember that if I aim for a stone and achieve 10lbs that’s a 10lb success not a 4lb failure (as failures usually = binge Hmm)

Am also shattered - didn’t get up early but was working til 1am (thankfully at home) - Brew all round! And as we know, sleep is v important for weight loss... Sad

ThrownMuse · 23/10/2018 20:14

Evening, everyone, sorry for the late posting. DS was at a holiday club so I was trying to cram 5 days work into 1!

Operation - we have all been where you are, and will all be there again. Don't worry, take it all one step at a time and it'll fall into place. Having a few goals is a great idea, and realistic ones!

Well done Viroids! I like the 10lb success not 4lb failure twist!

I have not had the greatest of days- I think not getting much sleep last night unsettled my willpower, plus I am getting close to my first goal, and I have form for sabotage.

I'm not going to do anything crazy, just be 100% on it (rather than 80% and oops I had a lion bar ths afternoon) for the next 18 days.

I am going to make my birthday my goal weigh in day, so I have three pounds (possibly 4 after today's lion bar) to lose in that time.

Honestly, why do we doubt ourselves so much?!

We all need some good sleep tonight, that's for sure!

OperationTransformation · 24/10/2018 08:07

Morning all! Hope you all got some sleep!

Thrown I’m not surprised you had a wobble yesterday. Working at home + poor night’s sleep = possible disaster. You did really well to limit it to a Lion Bar! You’ll just hop back on today.

Viroids I know what you mean about not seeing the 10lb lost, only the 4lbs not. That kind of perfectionism, all or nothing mind set has bitten me many times. A friend once tried to get me to treat a weight goal as an aspiration, a sort of ball park to aim for give or take a couple of pounds. As you can see since I’m here I never quite got the hang of that! Grin

Duckii I hope there was some sleep to be had last night. You have a lot going on. If it makes you feel any better my pinging back to shape after pregnancy is now 10 years in. Not much ping in me! That’s not to say it can’t be done of course! Patience and perseverance will get anything done as my mum used to say. I need to remember that more often!

I took the day off work and study yesterday and I’m so glad I did! Felt a bit guilty because I’ve so much on and needing done but I’ve been getting a bit burnt out so I think it helped. Renewed vigour today! I’ve kept to calories Mon and Tuesday. I think the lack of structure at the weekend is my downfall so I’ll try to change that this weekend. If I could crack the weekends I’d probably be fine.

Have a good day everybody!

ThrownMuse · 24/10/2018 18:40

Hello lovely people - bene out ALL day with DS so just catching up. Much better sleep though last night, so today was a breeze.

Well done on bagging some study time, Operation, it sounds like it was just what you needed.

Weekends ARE really hard! I often struggle when everyone is having delicious stuff and I am having it too, but a much smaller portion. It can feel very unfair sometimes. And it's my favourite food season, too, and I just wish that DP would stop making his own bread, or I will have to kill him (and make him into a sandwich).

Hope all is ok with you Duckii and Viroids?

I'm weighing Sunday this week (as my fisrt milestone weigh in is Sunday 11/11, so just want to get in the rhythm). I am going to go wine free for a couple of weeks (well, 18 days), just to give myself that extra little nudge to get to my goal.

Then on Sunday 11/11 I will be going for my birthday lunch (fish and chips, my death row meal) with DP and DS and enjoying lost fo wine and cheese, so much cheese! Hopefully having seen 14 stone 7 on the scales that morning...

ThrownMuse · 25/10/2018 05:56

Spelling correctly clearly not a concern yesterday....

What is everyone up to today? Am off again with DS but probably just stay local and try and do some housework!

ThrownMuse · 26/10/2018 08:44

Official weigh in Sun this week but hopped on the scales out of habit - no change.

I fear it's time to throw in some dedicated exercise! And def no wine for a couple of weeks to nudge things along...

Everybody else Ok?

duckii · 26/10/2018 12:26

Hey everyone, been really busy these past couple of days and thinking I'm feeling run down, lack of sleep etc. But still trying to stay strong on the diet. My weigh in day is Monday. That will be a week since I've restarted.

Yummy "death row" meal @ThrownMuse you deserve it and I'm sure you will get to your goal that morning!

I find weekend hards too But we need to stay strong. Patience and perseverance , just like your mum said.

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday.

OperationTransformation · 26/10/2018 12:32

Maybe try drinking lots of water too Thrown I’m sure it will show. I’m with you on the wine - well at home anyway, if I’m out it may be different!

I had a terrible, terrible eating day yesterday. Truly shocking! Tiredness, rebellion, overwhelmed by the daily grind and probably a million other things but definitely not hunger! Nobody’s ever been that hungry! But dammit it’s out of my system for a while now I hope and I’m seriously thinking about how I can take a bit of pressure off myself in other areas so in an odd way it focussed my mind! I’m meeting friends for takeaway tomorrow which is probably fairly dangerous. I’m going to employ the Thrown patented strategy of keeping the portion size limited. I’m also using Nutra check so I’ve adjusted my calories over the week to give me slightly less every other day and a bit more tomorrow.

I’ve told friends I’m aiming to lose 10lbs by the end of November to try to keep myself on it. Determined to get through this weekend without losing it!

duckii · 26/10/2018 21:03

That will be tough but you can do it, just think about portion control.

I've had a bad day too. I've been good for 5 days, even today up until half an hour ago. Feeling exhausted, needed "energy" to last the night with teething DD so I had nachos. Then my DH bought me these white choc mini kit kats.. (white choc is my fav). I ate them all . Hope it's out of my system now, will have to use those snacks as my "cheat day" now. 2 more days till weigh in. Hope you all have a nice weekend

OperationTransformation · 26/10/2018 21:55

It’s hard isn’t it duckii? I can be doing really well then suddenly in about half an hour I can eat enough to keep a small nation going. I think it’s that all or nothing mentality! It doesn’t sound like you’ve been too awful this evening though. You can move on from that. Lordy when I think of what I ate yesterday - do you remember that tv programme when they put all the unhealthy food they’d eaten out on the table? My diet yesterday was like one of those tables.

Well I’ve managed the first night of the weekend ok which is the first time in a while. Rather pleased with myself! Although I’m going to have to go to bed now so I don’t ruin it. Grin I’m so weak! But needs must!

ThrownMuse · 27/10/2018 08:24

Good morning all!

Thank you for all of your advice and wise words, feeling a bit bummed that I've stalled but trying to keep my eye on the prize.

More water is a good idea, I drink none at all.

Operation and Duckii I know the binge feeling well. I can ruin a weeks worth of good eating in five minutes and generally if I'm bored! Going to bed is a good plan.

What are we all up to today? A walk down to the beach for us as it's a lovely brisk and windy day here. DS and DP just want a lazy day so I might do some gardening and batch cooking.

Thanks for being there and offering advice!

MostlyHungryAgain · 28/10/2018 02:43

Hi everyone. I've been following your thread (and great progress!) and was wondering if I can please join in. Blush

I am so fed up of starting and stopping different things and ultimately just getting bigger. I am now 20kg bigger than what I would like to be, I think realistically if I could just get 10kg off I would be sooo happy.

I had done keto for a while but it's so hard to stick to as a vegetarian and I end up having high fat everything and then carbs too so basically just putting on tons!

I love what you are all doing, just eating less calories and moving more. This is what will work for me too, I may also do the odd week of 5:2 to kick start but I am always putting off a '2' day until tomorrow so it will probably never happen.

I have a very sedentary life so am going to try walking in the evening but I am so lazy/tired in the evenings. The good thing is that I cut out sugar a year ago so don't have any sweet snacks but i eat enough crisps to make up for it calorie wise!

thanks all.

ThrownMuse · 28/10/2018 05:34

Welcome Mostly! It's lovely to have you here.

We are all just trying our best to get behind the weight loss thing, recognising that life often gets in the way and that we are prone to a spot of emotional eating! We're trying not to fall into any quick fix traps and supporting each other on tough days. No judgement or being made to feel we've failed, which leads to self sabotage!

It sounds like you are making amazing progress with the sugar, so well done. And 10kg seems a realistic goal too. We are all seeing if we can lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks (for Christmas), if you want to join us (or 5 pounds or whatever!).

I don't move as much as I would like, but need to change this as my weight loss has pleauted this week! Just a daily brisk walk is what I'm aiming for!

Keep posting and good luck!

ThrownMuse · 28/10/2018 05:36

Sunday 28/10: 14.10 so no loss, definite pleauteau!

Two weeks til first goal of 14.7 so will up the water, more veggies and a daily brisk walk...

duckii · 28/10/2018 07:10

Don't worry @ThrownMuse it's still a good result, you haven't put on. So maybe you might lose extra in the next 2 weeks. Drinking water has really helped me this week (even though I haven't weighed myself yet..) I'm trying to drink 2 litres. It's hard but so far so good. How was your walk to the beach? I stayed in , doing a deep clean and getting rid of clutter before the big move next year. I find it slightly therapeutic!

Welcome @MostlyHungryAgain we are all in the same boat. I would love 10kg too. I've tried keto but failed, can only imagine it's difficult being a vegetarian. Also, 5:2 it did work for me but hard to stick by.
I'm calorie counting using MFP. Maybe if I see a bit of weight loss in the next 2 weeks I may do a bit of 5:2.
I think with the Winter slowly creeping in, it is making it difficult for walks. So not much exercise from me
Join us for 10 pounds by Christmas. I used to keep setting unrealistic goals that caused me to binge because I never made them. I'm being more realistic now that it will take time.

Last week of October, we can do this!!
