...according to ridiculous, stupid article in Daily Mail today.

(Thought twice about posting this as I already posted a quote from the Mail on Sunday yesterday.
I do not buy that paper, just saw it at my in-laws on Sunday and in the library today. Phew!)

As for you, Hercules...

Gizmo · 10/08/2005 16:44

Must say, I'm liking the typo in the article:

In a letter, a spokeswoman said: "We have many visitors of all ages and nationalities who find women breast-feeding either offensive or a welcome distraction to their visit."

Caligula · 10/08/2005 16:50

How dare they pander to ignoramuses who find it offensive?

Lots of people find lots of things offensive, doesn't mean we've all got to start persecuting each other about it.

hunkermunker · 10/08/2005 16:56

I find ignoramuses offensive - can they ban them from Hampton Court please? Or would they not have any policy-makers there then?!

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 17:03

Maybe they have wet nurse rooms instead of mother and baby?

moozoboozo · 10/08/2005 17:09

Hvae just added a comment on the Daily Fascist website, do you think they will send Neighbourhood Watch round?

moozoboozo · 10/08/2005 17:11

Get this comment

The mother must have arms like Popeye to be able to walk around, carry a child that size and successfully breast-feed all at the same time.

Surely this method of feeding can't be comfortable for the mother or the child?

Oh, Purlease. Who are these people?

What's the link for adding comments? Is this on the daily mail site?

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 17:57

Yes, I just tried to but I couldn't get on. It's a conspiracy!

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 17:58

Post a link if you manage, Caligula

Caligula · 10/08/2005 18:01

You should be telling me to p* off

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 18:45

Haven't you done your 8 hours yet? I thought you were off the hook not doing ovetime!! It's quarter to 7 woman! What have you been doing all day?

Roxswood · 10/08/2005 19:13

I just emailed them in disgust too.. thanks for the links!!!

Nightynight · 10/08/2005 19:21

Ive just sent an email off to Hampton Court - thanks for the link Marina.

serah · 10/08/2005 20:27

Pruni..... have you ever wondered whether to use your invisibility for fighting crime, or for evil?

Always a shame about this breastfeeding in public thing. However you choose to feed your child you certainly shouldn't be made to feel bad about it. The warder obviously had "issues".

Caligula · 10/08/2005 20:29

MT - I've been sneaking onto Mumsnet, and I've only got about 4 and a half hours done!! (This is why I need a job not based at home!)

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 20:31

I'm a bad MN monitor! I only caught you the once (it felt good though )

At my docs the baby clinic shares a waiting room with a physiotherapist and some guy walked out when I gave DS a comfort feed after bumping his head. He would have been able to hear the cackles and handbag cries as he went though

monkeytrousers · 10/08/2005 20:37

I thought that was mumsnet etiquette, Pruni, sorry!

Nice plait Serah!

I found this very facscinating... I must not be as 'aproachable' because I breastfed DS2 whilst touring Hampton Court. Nobody, staff or guest, commented at the time. My mum was with me and particularly impressed as she always had to sit down to feed me as a baby. He was in a sling so there would have been nothing visible but there was the usual production that preceeds the feeding of a small, hungry baby.

I have also just blasted off an email as I am Canadian and as a representative of my nation I DO NOT find feeding a baby offensive. Thanks for the link.

Cadmum · 10/08/2005 20:44

fascinating even
