no need to ever wash your baby's face, just wait until she pulls off and gets squirted, rub it in, et voila!

Oh and lilipadz are ok when milk has settled down a bit but don't cope too well if you have fast let down. I used ot end up with a little pool gathering in mine! Also a pain to use when feeding in public as you can't just move it to one side with your bra, you have to take it off, put in somewhere then put it back on which involves getting your whole boob out. But if you want to wear something that doens't scream "i'm breast feeding" for a change without the lovely circle outline of other pads they are good.

Confuzzeled · 06/11/2009 15:12

Oh and cake.....did anyone say that already

slushy06 · 06/11/2009 16:26

Being able to shut up both my nan and MIL with one word when they say I need to watch my weight after having children.

Also having a cast iron excuse if I don't want someone to take dd as I cant express.

Oh and I got a new one how about cake.

TheBlairSnitchProject · 06/11/2009 16:38

I've got some good old Johnson's one's for the first week or so, then "super absorbent" Boots pads to see me through until things settle down and I can start using the Lilipadz.

My let down was so strong with DS once my milk got going that I used to just whip the pad out and stick his head in the way! I could squirt it across my lap without being touched!! Poor kid just had to swallow for a minute or so while it slowed down, no sucking required!! I'm very lucky it didn't scare him off.

The feeding in public point is a good one though, maybe I'll save them for bed and special occasions when I really don't want pads showing!

Wonderstuff · 06/11/2009 16:48

No periods for months and months

MaMight · 06/11/2009 16:48

I can't believe no one has mentioned cake .

I use bfing as an excuse to read lots and lots of books. "I'd just LOVE to do whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing, but unfortunately my (ahem) 18 month old needs a feed so I'd better go and lie on my bed and feed him to sleep. And seeing as I'm just lying there I might as well find out if Jake has really imprinted on Renesmee and what the Volturi are up to..."

StealthPolarBear · 06/11/2009 16:49

Wonderstuff, i went 16 months with ds
dd is 7 weeks & im suspicious they're coming back already

StealthPolarBear · 06/11/2009 16:49

oh, and cake

Indith · 06/11/2009 17:18

16 months!

4/5 months til they came back with ds and 9 with dd.

Biscuits
Chocolate

gingerbreadlatte · 06/11/2009 17:19

Its sooooo easy (once you get started anyway!) and as many have said, great chance to do some MNing!

Great thread.

gingerbreadlatte · 06/11/2009 17:20

Oh, having two breakfasts.

But I started doing it at 8wks pregnant and havent really stopped.

ladylush · 06/11/2009 17:20

I should stay away from this thread. I seem to be one of the very few women who actually put on weight when bf I only lost it after stopping (with ds) and can see the same happening this time.

gingerbreadlatte · 06/11/2009 17:36

Lady Lush
I put on weight/ couldnt shift it when breastfeeding full time. Now im ramping down I've dropped 2 feeds and have lost 5lbs already- without trying.

Lot to be said for theory of body needing reserve to enable feeding.

ladylush · 06/11/2009 17:47

Thanks ginger - glad it's not just me

BalloonSlayer · 06/11/2009 17:47

Being able to shout "I am Feeding The BABY!" in the same tones as Harry Enfield's "I am Smoking A Fag!" whenever someone accuses you of doing nothing

No periods for 16 months. [cheers]

Being an easy drunk... as not drinking much, one glass of wine gives me a lovely buzz!

Oh, and cake.

Having my dd say boob as her first word aged 9 months.

Having my dd stroke my boobs & rest her head on them like they were her favourite things in the world ( they were).

Getting to play scrabble on my phone whilst feeding.

Seeing the cheeky grin whilst boob is in mouth that is reserved just for mum.

Oh yeah and cake!

potplant · 06/11/2009 23:55

I like basking in the admiration from other mum's when I say I bf DTs for 12 months.

(I know that a bit smug )

AliGrylls · 07/11/2009 09:58

Potplant, that is impressive. Anyone who does even a month with twins I would be impressed by. Twins must be such hard work.

Notcitrus, my mother thinks she is an expert in everything. Even though I was ff she decided that I needed to be instructed in the art of bf.

ladylush · 07/11/2009 13:34

LG - I salute you for bf for 2 years and for tandem feeding I fed ds for 8 months then stopped as went back to work. I'm off longer this time but 6 months is my target and anything over that is a bonus. Mind you, dd has decided breast is best and is refusing a bottle so she may end up dictating how long I feed for!

peppapighastakenovermylife · 07/11/2009 13:43

ladylush I put weight on whilst breastfeeding...but I still eat lots of cake

Ignoring the fact that the two just might be related...

ladylush · 07/11/2009 13:49

pepper I don't eat any cake but I am eating more biscuits/chocolate than usual. Probably not more than 500kcal worth though. I remember when I stopped bf ds the weight dropped off within 6 weeks. I'm going swimming 3x a week but it doesn't make any difference.
