My DD is 8 1/2 months old and we both love breastfeeding. I plan to carry on for the foreseeable future and wondered how other mums got on with the "Are you STILL breastfeeding??" comments.

Still feeding DS - he's nearly 14mo.

And if people ask if you're still breastfeeding, say no, but DD is

MarsLady · 25/05/2005 17:44

anchovies · 25/05/2005 18:25

Wish I hadn't given in to pressure to stop, definitely intend to carry on for longer next time.

snafu · 25/05/2005 18:29

14 months.

I coped with the 'Still breastfeeding?' commments by smiling sweetly and saying 'Yes, well spotted!' (whilst silently thinking 'and what's it to you, tw&tface?') and changing the subject.

LIZS · 25/05/2005 18:29

ds 17 months, even after a very shaky start.

Both mixed fed with bottles introduced duyrong day from 6 months.

I agree there but for that many kids?? Two extended bf kids are enough for me!

I had a 4 year gap before gf again.

Niddlynono · 25/05/2005 18:40

I breastfed DS til he was 18 months (although he was having bottles too).

I think it's sad that mums feel so much pressure not only to breastfeed in the first place but then to give up after a certain time. It's such a personal thing and it's just rude of other people to enforce their own opinions. If anyone unfairly commented on me breastfeeding my 18mo I'd have just told them to sling their hook (or words to that effect ).

Ds1 - 7 months
Ds2 - 6 months
Dd - 12 months
Ds3 - 13 months

Don't think I got far enough for anyone to make the "are you still b/feeding?" comments, especially as the youngest two only got feeds first thing in the morning and last thing at night for most of that time.
