Just came across this

and cant believe it was actually a real advert for Macdonalds in Austria!

OP posts:
sabire · 15/07/2008 22:11

I thought it was disgusting, because it made me think of a baby feeding on a breast covered in tiny....... warts!

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:11

At no point did I use a Nazi comment.

I used the term Mafia...

Interesting.... juxtapostion

sabire · 15/07/2008 22:14

Bree - go and drink your wine and stop being bitter.

ExterminAitch · 15/07/2008 22:17

isn't it just a completely uninteresting... mistake?

any chance of an acknowledgement of the fact that i amn't a smug bfer, bree, as i was in fact singularly crap at it?

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:17

Sabire

I will in a minute.

But I reserve the right to get annoyed at the smug BF'ers on here. I include my friends Hunker and QV in that aggravation.

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:18

Bree, what's up?

You've had empathy in spades on here - why the insults? I am offended by the bf mafia thing - I assume I'm on your list?

Nancy66 · 15/07/2008 22:19

Bree - I agree with you. this is the one area of the site I find particularly nasty, bitchy, preachy and unpleasant.

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:21

Bree, the doesn't cut it, I'm afraid - that "smug bfer" is a thump in the chest and no mistake.

sabire · 15/07/2008 22:22

Well Nancy - don't let the door bang your arse on the way out!

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:22

Why are you annoyed with me, Bree?

Specifically, please.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:29

Hunker

I have listed my case time and time and time again on here.

I am very very fond of you and QV, but I have said it before and I will say it again. Lordy Lordy breast is best threads are crap for those of us who did not have a choice.

You regularly appear on them, and I regularly ignore them, but every so often I am bothered by them and for that I make no apology.

9/10 I can co exist with the breast is so very much the best. smugness attitudeopinion, then every so often I have an opinion of my own. Apologies for that.

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:32

And you think I don't know that?

You think I'm not sensitive to that? You don't read my actual posts then, you just assume you know what's in them and you assume I'm judging you and being smug and what, you think you can insult me with flippant mafia comments?

You know what? I LOATHE "breast is best" - I think it's trite, shallow and hurtful. But you didn't know that, because you don't read what I actually write, do you? Clearly.

ExterminAitch · 15/07/2008 22:32

if you're ignoring them, how do you know what's in them? perhaps, as you undoubtedly did on this thread, you're responding to something that Isn't There?

VictorianSqualor · 15/07/2008 22:33

Bree, I think the key point there is didn't have a choice.
How on earth is anything about BFing being 'best' in anyway anything to do with those who had no choice??
I do think more people should Bf, I think those who have had shite guidance or no support deserved more, but it would take a heart of stone to infer anything against anyone who wanted to but couldn't.

ExterminAitch · 15/07/2008 22:35

ha HAH! the 'junk' thread. that was my MN baptism of fire. moony was my deadliest MN enemy for a while there.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:37

No because, generally I try to ignore BF threads.

Sorry, the smugness of the OPost as opposed to poster got to me.

I appreciate the link but that was two years ago, I reserve the right to be worn down in the mean time by the people who think BF is the be all and end of all of parenting.

I am going to go now.

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:37

Yes, that thread wasn't perhaps the most sensitive there ever has been [understatement] but I kinda hoped people would read the post I'd linked to and then close it quick!

ExterminAitch · 15/07/2008 22:42

poor pecka, bree. i think you should consider reading this again when your head is clearer.

all she said was

Just came across this

i can't believe it was actually a read advert for macdonalds in austria either, i find the image shocking. not from a bfing pov, necessarily, just because it's so incongruous adn downright WEIRD. very surprised that it made it through the process, iykwim?

Now, if you wanted to take offence at the laughably pompous blogger who wrote 'i was just sick in my mouth' or the commenter who wrote what Fallen Madonna copied, go right ahead. but i defy you to find anything like that on Hunker's blog, or anything like that on MN without an immediate pummelling following them (often from me).

hunkermunker · 15/07/2008 22:43

How is the OP smug?

It IS a shocking picture - it's shocking to see a pre-weaned baby with its face pressed against a burger bun.

Bree, you know I care about you, but your occasional scattergun postings on threads like this suggest a great deal of sadness about your choice being taken away from you when your DS was born - if it would help to talk it through, I'm on the end of an email/phone, whatever. But it can't help you and it doesn't help anyone else for you to come on and spray insults about what you think is said on bf threads.

Blu · 15/07/2008 22:45

Ahem - this advert is actually saying 'McD' is as good as mother's milk'...and therefore, in it's way, an intended compliment to bf. Fro the persepctive of McD,of course..

I am surprised they are allowed to advertise in this way...but perhaps that's Austria for you!

It made me laugh in a horrified sort of way.

And Bree - don't worry - i'm sure they'll bring out a linked ad in which the baby is sucking on a McD apple pie as if it was a bottle

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:46

Aitch

My head is perfectly clear...thank you.

I make no apologies for being pissed off.

But tomorrow is another day.

Bumperlicious · 15/07/2008 22:47

But when you are bfing it is the be all and end all, the same as when your child gets to 5 suddenly what school it goes to is the be all and end all, then it's "should my daughter get her ears pierced" "what reading booked should he be on" then before you know it the be all and end all is whether your you child will go to university or leave college to bum your house for the nest 5 years. And then when they are older and married and working in a respectable job they have their own children and it all starts for them and puts things into perspective for you.

I have come into this debate late but I resent the blanket assumption that I am smug or militant just because I bf and post on these boards.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 15/07/2008 22:49

Hunker

I reserve the right to react, to collective perceived smugness.

ExterminAitch · 15/07/2008 22:50

WHAT are you pissed off about on here, Bree? you don't read the bfing threads, and you sure as hell didn't read this one before posting.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 15/07/2008 22:51

Oh ffs. Leave me out of it please.

I have enough shit to deal with atm without being sniped at by "friends". Go get your rocks off elsewhere.
