I know there will be Oxford MNers I haven't mentioned, forgive me!
There is possibly going to be a breastfeeding picnic arranged for the Oxford area on July 21st.
Can you make it??

How did the radio thing go, VS?

Sorry I can't be there today - hope it all goes incredibly well (am rather of you all).

VictorianSqualor · 21/07/2008 08:22

Seemed to be ok, you can listen again at www.bbc.co.uk/oxford/news/ once they put the breakfast show up, it was at 7:30am, so half an hour in to the show.

DP said it was good and thinks I managed to sound reasonable rather than a loony lactivist.

The presenter asked me to play 'Devil's advocate' and asked if I could understand how a couple would feel if it was early evening in a restaurant and a family came in with three children, being noisy, playing around, breastfeeding etc'

I said that if it wasn't a family restaurant and was inappropriate for children to be there then I wouldn't take my children anyway and that I'd be more concerned about making my other children sit down and not disturb the other diners than stopping feeding my hungry child

OOh - well done you. Will listen again. And I'll be with you in spirit.

VictorianSqualor · 21/07/2008 08:28

Oh he is great!
He's going on about how he can't understand anyone being funny about breastfeeding in public!
We heart Dominic Cotter.

I'll eat a sausage roll for you, Jackie

JackieNo · 21/07/2008 08:32

lol - and drink a fruit shoot, I hope.

Ready4anotherCoffee · 21/07/2008 08:37

like the notes to editor on the press release

VictorianSqualor · 21/07/2008 08:42

The press release was written by urbandryad, It's the same one for all the picnics just the time and place changed, it obviously works, within half an hour of me sending it I had a call and a slot booked on the breakfast show so it did what we wanted it to do.

DP is going to chase up the paper today and mention the breakfast show as they won't commit to anything.

BBC London are being really crap.

Did you hear the woman on the phone in just now? "Some wimmen will flaunt it!!" LOLZ

BiancaCastafiore · 21/07/2008 09:00

Hope today goes well.
I wish I could be there but I have to be at work today.

VictorianSqualor · 21/07/2008 09:03

The paper have just called, again a sympathetic reporter, he helped in the campaign to stop them closing the breastfeeding clinic at the hospital, a photographer will be joining us at about 2pm

'flaunt it'? I said to both the radio and the paper about when I received a sarky comment from some woman about how I should 'put my tits away' both reporters said 'ridiculous'

It's a big news story on the BBC now!!

OP posts:
theSuburbanDryad · 21/07/2008 09:08

OP posts:
ruty · 21/07/2008 09:32
