I know there will be Oxford MNers I haven't mentioned, forgive me!
There is possibly going to be a breastfeeding picnic arranged for the Oxford area on July 21st.
Can you make it??

I'm afraid I won't be able to come, but I just thought I'd mention that I have a feeling MrsBadger may be on holiday at the moment, so if you haven't heard back from her, that may be why.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/07/2008 22:23

VS - might be difficult - I'm having a sodding baby on the 23rd and I may be hospitalised a few days beforehand for plasma transfers etc.

VictorianSqualor · 10/07/2008 23:12

How about you get a move on and bring a ten day old DS?

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 10/07/2008 23:13

Yeah that'd be nice - I'm still nursing DD so I could just crash out on the grass like a tired sheep

VictorianSqualor · 10/07/2008 23:18

We'll feed you green&blacks and pour wine through a straw, i'm sure you'll be fine then, can sort all those alcohol whilst feeding myths

Actually I don't drink and I've gone off chocolate . I've already been dragged round the sodding post natal ward to show the new mums that breastfeeding can go on beyond six weeks . Feel like a zoo exhibit - 'come see WMMC and her amazing lactating boobies!'

Yorky · 11/07/2008 08:30

The facebook event says it starts at 12 as thats what I'd read on the other thread, shall I get DH to alter it? Are the 5 people who have said they're attending all from MN?

MrsBadger · 11/07/2008 08:49

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 14/07/2008 13:57

Ok, I've had an email from the university parks who said they have been discussing it with yorky but to take their email as definite confirmation that we can use the park and they're going to make sure their security staff are aware.
Now to decide which part of the park is best.

Oh also DP is gong to see the editor of the oxford mail again later and show him the report in the bournemouth echo etc so he knows what it's about.

Does anyone know any of our MP's? Or if any of them support BFing?

It took me a minute to work out wtf you were talking about!
DD wants to come, she is quite passionate about babies/breastfeeding etc and thinks her baby brother should be fed whenever he needs it!
I might let her have the day off school and come, it's two days before they break up and something I think is more educational than taking down last years displays and playing board games!

Yorky · 14/07/2008 20:58

For the 1st time since I was 18 I know who my MP is - but only because we're near Witney!

VictorianSqualor · 14/07/2008 21:01

oooh yes, David Cameron, wonder what his views on bfing are?
Would certainly help get the event noticed....

If only this were real

Here is a list of all MP's that supported the breastfeeding bill when it was last proposed.

David Cameron's comment on breastfeeding when he was on MN said....

Dear Caligula,

Breast feeding is clearly good for babies, especially in the early weeks ? and campaigns that promote this are clearly a good thing. But this mustn?t spill over into undue pressure on mums who don?t feel breastfeeding is right for them. Likewise there certainly shouldn?t be harassment for those who want to breast feed. It?s important that mothers, with the support of their partners, can make an informed choice.

David (my bolding not his).

I shall go through the list tomorrow and see if any of those MP's are local.

Looks like
Harris, Evan (Liberal Democrats) Constituency: Oxford West and Abingdon is the man to call. He's big on bfing and woman's health.

OP posts:
Yorky · 14/07/2008 21:48

Emailed him, shall be interested to see what happens next!

vacaloca · 14/07/2008 22:38

oh wow, good work VS and Yorky. Thanks for doing all this.
