Did no-one else see Casualty? BBC managing to normalise FF again.

I've checked to see if anyone else started a thread about this but it seems no-one has.

Maggie's daughter was whining that she was having trouble feeding the baby and she was going to switch to bottles. Maggie said "breast is best".

Switch to the staff room and Tess is handing over a bottle trotting out the "happy mum happy baby" line.

Then in the pub the mum tells Toby she's "claimed them back" and is no longer feeding.

Why does the BBC persist in this anti-breastfeeding stance? What is the relevance of a BF storyline in Casualty anyway?!!

OP posts:

to suggest that a soft porn star has a duty to educate women about breastfeeding is so ridiculous it's made me laugh out loud. Get real.

sabire · 05/05/2008 09:43

I personally don't think Jordan has any responsibility to be a role model etc.

You can bet she knows less than nothing about breastfeeding - who would have had the courage to give her the facts?

But SMA and Hello should uphold the spirit as well as the letter of a law which is in place to protect babies.

OracleInaCoracle · 05/05/2008 09:45

but she is a celeb who lives out her life in the public eye. i didnt say she had a responsibility to educate, i said she has a responsibility to work within guidelines and not undermine bf-ing.

OracleInaCoracle · 05/05/2008 09:46

but she IS a role model, whether we like it or not. anyway, this is moving onto jordan bashing and away from the op...

Nancy66 · 05/05/2008 09:49

who is she a role model to? 16 year old girls who want to get their boobs out and marry footballers - nobody else.

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 09:52

she's a role model to morons. plenty of them about...

sabire · 05/05/2008 09:52

Well..... she was vote 'mum of the year' wasn't she?

Anyway - as I said, if mw's fudge telling ordinary mums who want to ff the facts about it, you can bet no one did it with Jordan.

She's like every other celebrity - surrounded by people eager to tell her exactly what she wants to hear.

She doesn't have a clue....

Nancy66 · 05/05/2008 09:59

No, I think that was Kery Katona...ha ha ha. Another great role model.

it was also jordan. they vote every year for the mum of the year award. i don't understand your point, do you genuinely think those women have no influence on our culture? would that it were true....

Nancy66 · 05/05/2008 10:06

Same reason people on Albert Square are always being held hostage, raped, beaten up, dealing drugs, finding out they're in love with their own brother, sleeping with their father in law etc etc.

It's fiction.

Real life is actually pretty dull.

MrsTittleMouse · 05/05/2008 10:12

She's only a role model to "sixteen year olds who want to get their boobs out"? Except that that's 63% of all young girls! Link is here.

VictorianSqualor · 05/05/2008 10:12

Hmm, it's not really that dull, my mum was held hostage by an armed robber, I know many people who have been raped, took/dealt drugs, slept with people they shouldn't, not met anyone in love with their brother yet though.

Casualty and other Tv programmes are based on real life, just all the worst parts of it.

Hi again,
Just reading through nthis thread now my god the subject as gone to Jordan now.

In my less than valued opinion I think that Kerry Katona was voted mum of th year for a few years running wasn't she? So the next time I'm pregnant I shall have to remember that it is apparemntly how I should act, taking cocaine, drinking, smoking and saying oh well who gives a shit! I am not the mother I am because of what Kerry or Jordan does I think the issue is why are these people being voted mother of the year if everyone hates them both so much? Who exactly votes BTW I haven't ever seen it anywhere? Oh and last comment on this subject, just because Jordan 'cares' for a disabled child does not make her mother of the year! When was the last tme she spent a whole day looking after him by herself.. my guess never! The people who deserve the recognition are the Real parents who look afetr a disabled child on their own just coping with day to day life. Not a bunch of drunken celebrities who buy their kids the most treats etc.

Sorry random post again but I can't stand all that celeb mum crap!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 05/05/2008 10:35

I think they pick people like Jordan and KK to be Mum of the Year because they know they can get them to come and do stupid photo shoots for trashy magazines. They're not going to name someone like Kristin Scott-Thomas or Madonna or Catherine Zeta Jones Mum of the Year as they wouldn't give these magazines the time of day!

Nancy66 · 05/05/2008 10:41

it's like 'rear of the year' a totally meaningless award given to low rent celebrities who will do anything for publicity.

Not voted by anybody just 'awarded' by a magazine or manufacturer.

scottishmummy · 05/05/2008 14:36

omg Jordan "has an obligation as a role model to many women" emmm the same role model who was regularly photographed drunk and incapable pg.Actually no individual has an obligation to be a role model to anyone else. and certainly most people wouldn't aspire to be a plastic titted fembot with an orangey hue

OracleInaCoracle · 05/05/2008 14:42

she may not be a role model to you, or anyone with half a brain, but she is in the public eye an awful lot, and is a role model to a lot of women and young girls.

Divastrop · 05/05/2008 17:03

scottishmummy-you may be suprised to know that jordan has quite a few admirers even on this site,as the thread about her SMA product placement a few months back proved.i remember being horrified at the time.

scottishmummy · 05/05/2008 19:00

really? i am not a fan of schleb's/WAG/plastic-titted-fake-bake dollies hey someone must be.don't watch casualty either

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 21:15

unfortunately she is most definitely a role model, much as it is hard to believe if you are in possession of half a brain. the amount of people on here i've seen saying what a brilliant mother she is, presumably on the basis of hag mags and her tv appearances.

OracleInaCoracle · 05/05/2008 21:20

lol aitch

Divastrop · 05/05/2008 21:38

here is the 375 post thread if you wish to see what i am on about.i seem to recall getting called 'jealous' for saying bad things about jordan

if she has supporters on a site like this, used generally by intelligent women,i dread to think how many she has on other parenting sites

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 21:40

generally intelligent? i think you'll find we're "middle-class, well-educated women who sacrifice their sex life/drinking life/eating oranges life for six months plus so they can do the right thing"
