DavidTennantsMistress · 27/12/2007 13:26

re the boob bit - hmm not sure on that one - cabbage leaves so I hear? apparently the dr can give you tablets - all I can recommend is a tight fititng bra and occassional expressing to ease the discomfort but tiktok prob nows better tips than I do.

silkcushion · 27/12/2007 13:27

glad to hear you've been to drs. thinking of you x

silkcushion · 27/12/2007 13:32

oh yeah sore boobs. i've just gone through this as have had to switch to ff with megan. hv told me afterwards i should have rung her for advice on how to stop so maybe ring them.

cabbage leaves were fab - only thing is though boobs were so hot that 5 mins after stuffing my bra with chilled leaves i smelled of boiling cabbage!!! eeeewwwwwww.

they are v soothing though. i wore a bra all the time but didn't express off as i thought this would prolong it (no idea whether that is right or wrong). took regular paracetamol. lots of soothing baths and it got better after4/5 days.

moondog · 27/12/2007 14:05

JARM, you poor thing
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to look after three such small children. i admire you tremendously.

You've done a terrific job and your baby has been breastfed successfully for a good long period of time. That is really worth celebrating! I'm not really sure why you have to or have chosen to stop now but we are not your jury. You don't have to justify your decisions to us. We are just here to be your mates and try to help you out.

If you feel it's worth perservering with, then please try the helplines. It's probably worth ringing them nayway, just to talk it through.

Thinking of you sweetie xxx

MerryXMoss · 27/12/2007 15:55

Jarm, don't know if it's more of an urban myth than anything else but I have heard that sage, parsley and peppermint tea are meant to lessen milk supply, kind of like the reverse of fenugreek and fennel?

hunkermunker · 28/12/2007 23:41

Oh, darling girl

How are you today?

No need to apologise, honestly. I'm glad you did four weeks and happy to have helped.

Now, please, please realise I'm asking this without judging or being anything other than supportive, but can you express a bit while you still have milk and your boobs are sore?

What ADs are you on? I do hope they help soon. You are a star, you know? {{{hugs}}

expatinscotland · 28/12/2007 23:44

JARM, you done good, hun !

Really, try not to beat yourself, sweetheart.

You've got three little ones to look after.

I hope the ADs kick in soon - I know how hard it is to admit when it's time to get help .

I joined the Fluoxetine club myself yesterday.

Best to you in 2008.

hunkermunker · 28/12/2007 23:46

Really, really hope you start to feel better soon too, EIS.

expatinscotland · 28/12/2007 23:48

thanks, hunker!

three cheers for JARM!

hunkermunker · 28/12/2007 23:49

Yep, hip, hip hooray!

And for you too, sweetheart - you've been through the mill and I don't know how you're still standing. Hats off to you!

expatinscotland · 28/12/2007 23:51

it's been a tough road for many of us.

just hoping 2008 brings better for all.

Twinklemegan · 29/12/2007 00:01

Hey JARM. I've not posted on this thread until now, but I just wanted to say you've done brilliantly, and you've lasted twice as long as I did before having to give formula.

Just a thought on the breast engorgement front - any chance of winding down the breastfeeding slowly? I found the decision to use formula took away the pressure so I could start to enjoy breastfeeding without the worry. And when I stopped there was no milk left = no engorgement.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 29/12/2007 00:02

JARM, you've done really well to get as far as you have, you should be very proud of yourself

I'm not far away if you need anything (car-less at the moment but that needn't be a problem!)

xx

DanJARMouse · 29/12/2007 09:09

oh bollox, you lot have jsut made me cry

i am proud of myself for lasting this long, but there is just no going back now, the pressure is off, we are all sleeping better, Daniel is actually smiling at me now rather than looking cross. He is just a different baby, but im an absolute mess.

The thought of getting up in the morning makes me cry, being around the kids for more than an hour tries my patience and poor old DH is getting the short straw.

Im on Ciltopram or however you spell it, 20mg once a day. Doc did say it could be up to 3 weeks for it to kick in. Seeing doc again on 15th Jan for postnatal check and pnd follow up.

If only i could stop bloody crying.

Oh poor you, JARM.

You have done FABULOUSLY well to get this far, Daniel has had 4 weeks of the BEST stuuf on earth, even though it was ever so tough for you. Well done.

Now you need to focus on getting you better. Really sorry to hear about the PND (though given your situ (3 tiny ones, probs with housingetc, no mum - and I know how bad this one is, mine never saw my kids either -, it would be amazing if you didn't get it). Keep ranting on here, I'm sure you will start to feel better soon. At least Dh can do night feeds now, so you will be less tired.

SevenSwansASlouching · 29/12/2007 09:18

This is sassy/slouchy, Btw. Fecking xmas names.

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 29/12/2007 09:44

Awww I didnt know you were having problems DJARM.

Like others have said, you have done ever so well to feed Daniel yourself all this time.
But ultimately its you and your babies happiness that counts the most.

As for patience levels, I can totally sympathise and see where your coming from. Its bloody hard work this 3 kids malarky!
I had my first day on my own yesterday and both dd and ds1 picked up on the fact that I had to deal with their tantrums and naughtiness on my own

I'm also on citalopram but 10mg. I was on 20mg but it made me sick. I too have to go for my PN check soon but I've been told I have to coincide it with a review of the medication and I'll probably end up on something else.

Keep your chin up. You are doing so well

DavidTennantsMistress · 29/12/2007 19:00

((((hugs)))) honney just wanted to see how you are today - hope you're feeling slightly better today.

PrismManchip · 29/12/2007 19:10

JARM
You are a star
Well done you.
Hope things get less rocky for you, and soon.
What lovely support you have had - people care very much that you are ok
xxPruni

Twinklemegan · 29/12/2007 23:26

JARM - sorry to have made you cry It's really good news though that the pressure's off you and that Daniel's happier. I really hope the medication starts to work for you soon.
