I know it's pathetic on my part but I'm already giving up! Have literally re-settled about 5 times. I think she may be poorly, or it may be teeth. Something seems to be stopping her getting past the initial 40min cycle. She keeps pulling at her ears so am hoping not an ear infection.

Anyway, she's in with me now and I can't face another wake up 2 mins after I fall asleep so here we go for another long night,

Anypants · 27/05/2013 22:18

Yes larle - she only cries when she's tired but it seems she doesn't actually want to go to sleep. So I swaddle her and put her against my shoulder sway/rock and shush until she stops crying and goes off to sleep - usually between 5-10 minutes. I've only ever managed to put her down a couple of times while awake and have her go to sleep. Thankfully I only have to do it a couple of times a day as she doesn't really sleep but it annoys me that I spend 20 minutes trying to calm her down and them she'll only sleep for 20!
I pick her up as soon as she starts yawning and take her to her room which is quiet and dark but it doesn't make much difference. It's my nemesis - no idea how to prevent the meltdown (unless she just falls asleep on me after a feed Blush )

abi2790 · 27/05/2013 22:45

Dp just woke ds up Sad. Ds has taken to turning over and sleeping on his front. He can turn his head to the side fine so I've stopped trying to turn him back as he wakes up as soon as you move him. Dp doesn't understand this and tried to put him on his back again! Now I'm sat here with stingy eyes, and what feels like period pain, feeding ds back to sleep. I'm hoping dp doesn't come running in to put him on his back when he rolls on his front again otherwise he can rock him back to sleep without my help!

Sorry, rant over!

4th feed since baby larle went to bed Hmm

larlemucker · 28/05/2013 01:48

Ffs up AGAIN. He hasn't slept for longer than an hour. This can't be normal

Anypants · 28/05/2013 02:01

Good grief larle - i'd love to help but obviously can't. I've had a few nights where DD just wouldn't stay asleep but they're normally followed by a very sleepy day. I hope that's the case for you.
Knew i'd be up at this time - first feed since madam went to sleep at 8.20. Not bad going but she went for 9 hours for the last two nights and was just getting used to it. (not bragging - just stating facts Blush )
Hope this is it for tonight...

larlemucker · 28/05/2013 03:00

And again

No, not followed by sleepy days Hmm

abi2790 · 28/05/2013 03:22

Second feed here.

Poor you larle Flowers Brew. Maybe try co-sleeping again if you haven't already?

SoYo · 28/05/2013 04:03

Second feed here too. We'd had a couple of nights of going 5hrs which was lovey & now back to 3 which suddenly feels very painful! Plus I've t an awful bad back so holding her to feed isn't much fun. Larle does a later bedtime or the number of daytime sleeps seem to affect it at all? I feel for you so much.

lazzaroo · 28/05/2013 04:31

Awake! Hmm Dd1 came into me & she woke. MAy well have woken anyway. Now I have 2 awake babies at a dangerous time f day to get them back o sleep. Have left dd1 in my bed with strict instructions to get back to sleep but dd2 is being so noisy! Don't think she'll feed back o sleep o trying to muster up the energy to rock & pace. Don't remember feeding her last night but assume I did. She slept on me all night anyway so still knackered!

lazzaroo · 28/05/2013 04:53

SHould have said dd2 not being noisy due to crying! She's happy as larry and 'chattering' away. I don't know if I'm wasting my time trying to get her back to sleep. It feels like it so I've just put her down in cot for a bit. She won't feed back to sleep yet Sad. It's at this point that £300 to sort sleep seems like a bargain!

larle sorry you've had a rough night.

Anypants · 28/05/2013 05:04

soyo - i'm up again 3 hours after last feed. Why? I didn't do anything different. And now she's awake and it's practically daytime, i'm screwed. I too have a bad back, plus bad knees, from holding her all the time and all the bouncing/rocking. Every time I stand up, I think they're going to snap.
My eyes reeeeeaaalllllly hurt Envy Brew

lazzaroo · 28/05/2013 06:29

Finally back to sleep at 5.15am. Managed to crawl back into bed. Awake again at 6am & up. Another long day again!

Anypants · 28/05/2013 07:00

Wtf? So I put her down bacause she's asleep but didn't burp. An hour later, she's thrashing around so I pick her up and she lets out quite a violent.burp. Then she goes back to sleep. Put her down, more thrashing and now crying. Haven't slept at all for the last 2 hours. What the hell happened? She now won't go back to sleep properly as it's daytime Angry

larlemucker · 28/05/2013 07:56

Sounds like lots of crap nights.

Put him in with us at about 4am as I needed to sleep.
He has amazing timing as he was waking an hour after I put him in his cot every time! Put him in bed with us and he sleeps till 7!!

Been stocking up in milk so tonight he is going to have some tea and a big bottle of ebm.

Hope we all manage to catch up on sleep tonight

Emilythornesbff · 28/05/2013 08:30

Lots of wakeful nights here tonight. Sad sorry ladies.
If it's any consolation we've been awake too. Feeding 3 or 4 times but not posting as I've banished the iPad from the bedroom due to angst about radiation -type issues. (Grin I know, I know.)

But it may help you to know that my DS (aka "world's worst sleeper" as a baby- officially) now sleeps really well (most nights) from around 7 to 6.
So there is hope. No sleep training (apart from following advice in "the no cry sleep solution" about stopping night feeds at about 14 months). My method was the total "baby spoiling - making a rod for my own back- indulgent" approach. If it can happen for me it can definitely happen for you.

larlemucker · 28/05/2013 09:28

What are your radiation worries emily?

GoatBongosAnonymous · 28/05/2013 16:47

emily I hold out hope constantly that this will be the case for BG!

I just hope we don't then swap the good eating habits... Hmm

Emilythornesbff · 28/05/2013 18:20

larle it's just that sleeping with one's phone or I pad (they both transmit "waves" as it were) near one's head is apparently unhealthy as they can have a heating effect on the body /brain. Or so I read. Dh is always banging on about it so I have banished such items from the bedroom at night.

Emilythornesbff · 28/05/2013 18:21

That's the thing goats
Maybe we should just be happy with what we've got Grin.

lazzaroo · 28/05/2013 21:07

So, baby lazza asleep at 6.45pm. Have re-settled her twice already & now she's sleeping on her stomach. Will be interesting to see if it helps, but of course I won't sleep as .I'm too worried about having put her on her stomach in the first place!! Aahhhhh!!

She had mammoth 3.5 hour nap this afternoon. Another catch up no doubt. Also had pear puree as a snack & porridge for tea.

I am beginning to think none of these things will make slightest difference to her sleep. Some sleep well, some don't.

Hope it's a better night for all tonight!

Emilythornesbff · 28/05/2013 21:19

Good night all.

You may have a point there lazz

abi2790 · 28/05/2013 21:48

Good point lazza Smile.

I can't decide whether to go to sleep or not as I have a feeling Ds will wake up as soon as I close my eyes.

OP posts:
larlemucker · 28/05/2013 21:54

abi baby larle has a mummy is just going to sleep radar!!

Baby larle has had carrot purée and a 6.5oz bottle of ebm. Successful transfer so going to watch the apprentice!

DH thinks we should give him more purée, he currently has an ice cubes worth. What do you guys think?

SoYo · 28/05/2013 21:55

Madam has gone to sleep 30mins ago so I'm watching The Apprentice (guilty pleasure) with a cuppa & keeping everything crossed.

You're so right Lazza, some sleep, some don't, some just like to keep you guessing!
