Great advice there Larle, are you sure we don't share a HV, one that's as useful as a chocolate fire guard?

larlemucker · 03/06/2013 20:39

Wouldnt surprise me soyo! Mind you she has been helpful apart from that

Little man is cutting a tooth, not a happy chappy tonight Hmm

abi2790 · 03/06/2013 22:27

Sorry I haven't been posting much. It's hard to find the energy when attempting to unpack everything into our new home (seems an endless task!) And pleasing a baby who's cutting a tooth. He's sleeping as he normally would but in the daytime he seems very agitated and won't latch. I'm worried about him getting dehydrated in this hot weather. Plus he has a very hot, red cheek :(

May I join you? DS (4 months) used to be an amazing sleeper and only woke once. Suddenly he's up four or five times a night. This has been going on for over a fortnight now. I feel like I'm going slightly crazy with exhaustion!

SoYo · 04/06/2013 05:35

Hi Marsh

I'm dreading the 4 month sleep regression. We're just getting DD down to 2/3 times a night with a late, prolonged, screamy bedtime & hate the thought of it getting worse again!

larlemucker · 04/06/2013 05:47

Welcome marsh. We were down to two wakes a night and then the sleep regression hit, now up every hour! Well that's if he is in his own cot, in our bed he woke at midnight and now!!!
I'm so stiff and achy though from not moving all night!!

abi2790 · 04/06/2013 05:59

Welcome marsh Brew.

Ds slept really well but is now refusing to go back to sleep. He's happy in his cot so I might be able to get another 10 minutes but who am kidding hopefully he'll settle himself.

Welcome marsh

Hooorah - finally slept until 7 this morning, considering she'd been up a lot the night before. Hard to see it as anything other than a fluke as I keep doing the same thing in the day but get very different outcomes at night. I guess I get a few more weeks of this before all hell breaks loose at the four month mark and we go back to nighttime misery... Envy
Belvita breakfast biscuit anyone? Biscuit

marshmallow2468 · 04/06/2013 08:10

Well, he was up four times last night, barely sleeping an hour in between wakings. Three of them he fed, the fourth DH got up with him. I've read about the four month sleep regression, reckon we're right in the middle of it. Oh for the days of one waking at 4am. You could set your clock by it!

DS is fully breastfed. Anybody tried giving a bottle of formula before bed? I have a (maybe misconceived) idea that that might fill him up and let him sleep for longer. At the very least, DH could give him the last feed of the day and I could get an early night! But I worry this would have a detrimental effect on my supply. I was only planning on breastfeeding until 6 months, so don't know if the effect would be that bad considering I was planning to start replacing some feeds with formula from about five months.

larlemucker · 04/06/2013 13:29

marsh we've tried everything, the only thing that makes DS sleep is being in our bed!!!

Anypants · 04/06/2013 18:15

marsh - you may want to see if he'll take a bottle at all because mine did to begin with but started refusing it about a month ago. I use expressed milk though so you may have more luck with formula. I tend to tank up my DD before bed with two feeds and a bath in between right before bedtime. Some nights it works, some nights not so much. I find if she feeds at least six times in the day she'll go longer between feeds at night. Haven't hit the four month regression though... Hmm

marshmallow2468 · 04/06/2013 20:50

He's had bottles of expressed milk so hopefully he'll take to a bottle if that's what I decide to do. He's just finished what is usually the last feed before I take him to bed. Anybody want to place a bet on the first waking time and how many times? My money's on four times, with the first one at 11.48pm.

marshmallow2468 · 04/06/2013 22:51

10.43pm for the first waking. Hope it's the only one, but not hopeful

larlemucker · 05/06/2013 00:00

Warm night here which I don't think will help things!

Baby larle has just woken for second feed. He has bad wind tonight! He had banana over the weekend and it bunged him up for 3 days! So no more banana for a while!
Pear went down well today, could be that which is making him fart though!!

Sleepy dust to all

SoYo · 05/06/2013 01:29

Bit tired for proper post

marshmallow2468 · 05/06/2013 02:18

Third waking of the night here.....

I'm beginning to go slightly insane! Suspect this will only improve with weaning and looking forward to that! Then I worry I'm wishing my baby's life away. The worries of the sleep deprived brain!

larlemucker · 05/06/2013 06:27

Never thought I'd say this but I miss baby poo!!! Baby larle now doing adult like poos, think I need to keep a clothes peg in the nursery for nappy changing!!! (Sorry if TMI!)

abi2790 · 05/06/2013 08:21

I know what you mean about the poo larle haha. Ds is eating what we eat now and his poo is very stinky!!

Ds has been a nightmare this morning. He woke up around 5 and wouldn't go back to sleep until I took him downstairs around 7. He's now fast asleep in his bouncer whilst I'm struggling to keep my eyes open!

OP posts:
abi2790 · 05/06/2013 09:17

Ds is still asleep! I put him in his bouncer at 7:25! Why couldn't he do that at 5 this morning?!

larlemucker · 05/06/2013 10:26

Lol abi!!!

Bed guard arrived and on bed. Can't believe I'm a co-sleeping mum!!!! I was so adamant I wouldn't cos I was scared of squashing him!!

Anypants · 06/06/2013 03:28

Hey ho - we're back to stupid, random wakings these last couple of nights. I know it's because she's been going four hours between feeds during the day and therefore i'm trying to squeeze in three feeds between 4 and 8 pm to get her tanked up. Clearly it's not working and i'll have to go back to three hourlys.
On a good note though - offered her a bottle again yesterday (after a two week gap) and she actually drank from it! No messing about Grin

Thank goodness - going to try again today to make sure it's not a fluke and then i'll be alright to leave DD with my Mum on Monday. Although, there's still the issue of her not taking a nap without crying and being cuddled to sleep - my Mum says 'I used to just put you down and you'd go to sleep'. I had to explain that I don't have one of those babies and that i'm obviously a bad mother for rocking my baby to sleep every day. She didn't correct me...Envy

SoYo · 06/06/2013 03:33

3rd feed here, after a few days of going 6-7hrs we've decided a night of 1-2 hrs was called for!

Anypants · 06/06/2013 04:28

Hey soyo
Just 'fed' for an hour and what I suspected was an asleep baby was not, actually, asleep.
Just cuddling a bit more and feel surprisingly awake Shock

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 06/06/2013 06:52

Best nights sleep since DS was born 8 weeks ago! He fell asleep on the boob at 9:30 last night, didn't flinch when I lifted him in to his Moses basket (was concerned about wind as I get to burp him) and he slept right until 6:15 this morning! Grin
Needless to say he is wide awake merrily jigging away in my arms. Might as well get up now.

larlemucker · 06/06/2013 08:34

First night last night with bed guard. Baby larle in our bed all night, woke for 3 feeds at midnight, 3 and 5 so massive improvement!! We've also mastered the art of feeding lying down which is why I didn't post last night.

Sounds like there were some much better nights last night!

Put on 2lb at WW HmmHmm think it was the bag of giant buttons I ate after last weeks meeting!!!! Naughty me!!
Also there was no swimming or Pilates on last week so I didn't do as much exercise as usual.

Lovely sunny day again here, hope its nice where you are and you have a lovely day (why do people on here spell nice naice??)
