soyo according to a friend we are going to have model teenagers to make up for having terrible sleepers Wink

Sorry to say in face of bad nights, but last night BG only woke twice and went straight back to sleep both times. Did 6 to 6. This is the first time. He is 10 months old. I think it's the first time I got 8 hours sleep since beginning of pregnancy. I post this to show that if even BG can, hopefully anyone can!!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 30/05/2013 08:58

Wow! DS has only just woken for a feed Smile I couldn't quite believe the time when I looked!
I'm not going to get too excited just yet, I'm sure it was just a one off. Also, after the 4am feed I used a dummy to settle him in his Moses basket. Over the last week he's found his fingers and thumbs and is desperately trying to suck them, but gets very frustrated and upset when he can't manage it. So, to save us both a bit of grief he settled using a dummy. I've been a bit reluctant to use one, but if it works - why not

What's everyone else's experiences with dummy's and advice so that he doesn't get too attached.?

Emilythornesbff · 30/05/2013 09:09

That's great goats

ifatfirst i'vevstarted to use a dummy for dd and it often helps her settle. If she's actually hungry she spits it out.

SoYo · 30/05/2013 09:16

IfAtFirst I have no advice. Madam refuses to have anything other than human flesh in her mouth - this could be a problem when we're weaning a mini-cannibal!

abi2790 · 30/05/2013 09:23

Welcome ifatfirst and iamci Smile.

ifatfirst we tried to use a dummy when ds was about a month old but he didn't take to it. I say using a dummy is much better in the long run as that can be taken away whereas thumb sucking cant! Just try to make sure dc doesn't use it too much.

Ds went down around 8 and was up at 12:30 and 6. Not quite 10 hours like the night before but I'm not going to complain as it's better than every 2-3 hours!

Another very busy day today moving house. Luckily we're only going round the corner!

Welcome newbies! Sorry I didn't welcome you in the early hours!!

Baby larle won't take a dummy so can't help with that, sorry.

I have a sore left arm where baby larle has slept on it most of the night!! He was not going to sleep in his cot last night, woke up 30 mins after each transfer and couldn't be bothered with being up all night. Think I'm going to buy a bed guard to make co sleeping a little safer. Any recommendations?
Think we had a bad night last night as he had a bottle of ebm and then chucked it all back up again!

We're meeting friends for coffee today and so I have to tidy the house!!

emily baby larle started pulling my hair so I wear a necklace and he fiddles with that while feeding instead if my hair. He has also started squeezing my boob, not sure if that helps him get more milk!!

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Good luck with the move abi

larlemucker · 30/05/2013 09:47

Oh and congrats goat sooooo jealous-

abi2790 · 30/05/2013 18:46

Ugghh I'm shattered and still have lots to do. Ds is having his bedtime feed now and I'm hoping he'll be asleep soon so I can get stuff done.

Emilythornesbff · 30/05/2013 20:53

Thanks larle good tip.

abi it's stressful isn't it? Poor babythorne won't settle. The kitchen is a bomb site, I haven't showered yet and I am so exhausted. I feel as though ds will be up in a minute and I never catch up.

abi2790 · 30/05/2013 22:36

It is indeed very stressful emily. Ds has woken up twice since 7:30. I just want to go to sleep!

OP posts:
abi2790 · 30/05/2013 22:53

Woohoo ds is asleep! Fingers crossed it stays that way!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 30/05/2013 23:14

Final feed before bed, not sure what sort of night we're in for as DS has been asleep most of the afternoon.

Thanks for your advice about dummies, I think we've decided to only use them when absolutely necessary rather than as a frequent thing.

Hope you all have a reasonably peaceful night!

SoYo · 30/05/2013 23:20

Madam went down at 9.45, I'm just going to bed now, she's stirring a bit because we've come into the room, are moving & have turned a small light on. I know full well as soon as I fall into a deep sleep she'll be up but don't have the heart for a dreamfeed when it did bugger all the other night. Urgh. Should have just gone to bed when she did but wanted to have a chat with DH & watch some TV! Foolish!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/05/2013 00:16

Well I thought I'd have a long night, but half an hour is rediculous! Hmm
He's having a pretty big feed which I'm hoping will stock him up for a good few hours!

larlemucker · 31/05/2013 01:56

Evening!!

We're up for second feed. Fed when we came to bed about half 10. He woke about an hour after transfer so rocked to sleep (and fell asleep myself!). Just woke after transferring to cot!
He just wants to sleep with me!

Forgot to say yest I lost 2.5lb on WW! That's a stone and a half now. Speaking of which I wonder where MrsN is, she hasn't been around for a while.

Bought some porridge today for the little man so will see how that goes down tomorrow. He is loving having food!

Sleepy dust all round, here's to a good(ish) nights sleep

SoYo · 31/05/2013 02:32

We're just up now so a good stretch. Now just need to explain she could do the same again & we've cracked it!

Larle congrats on WW! Very impressive.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/05/2013 04:02

4am - that's good going! Smile
I don't want to tempt fate but so far this is similar to yesterday; midnight feed, 4am-ish, then he slept until 8:30am. I hope this is the start of good habits as the 2-hourly night feeds were starting to break me! Especially when it took half an hour to settle and put down after each feed!

Here's hoping! Grin

iamci · 31/05/2013 04:20

Here's hoping ifatfirst!

I'm actually awake and baby isn't now. what gives?! Wednesday night's transfer to basket was an epic fail (several times) - finally got him down at 5 for two hours.

think I'm awake now as I managed to get in four naps during the day yesterday but tonight has actually been much better. he's only been up twice since going down - wondering if it's cause my milk has come in and he's fuller?

abi2790 · 31/05/2013 06:26

I was wondering where mrsn is too larle. Congrats on the weight loss Grin.

Ds woke around 3:30 whimpering as he had gotten stuck trying to get onto his front but luckily once I put him on his front properly he fell asleep again until 6 Smile

OP posts:
IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/05/2013 07:45

Woohoo, 7:30 wake up! Smile What makes it even better is that each time I put DS back in his Moses basket he was still awake but didn't grumble and sent himself off to sleep. However, I don't hold much hope for him going back to sleep no with the sun being up. Think I might hand him over to DH for a cuddle while I squeeze in a bit more sleep myself! Wink

Annoyingly, after I put DS down his 4am feed it took ages for me to get back to sleep myself. I lay wide awake listening to DS and DH snoring - what gives!?!?

Anypants · 31/05/2013 08:12

Been there ifatfirst. Pretty annoying when you feel like you're trying to go to sleep in a farm and you just can't shut off. I normally end up kicking DH until he stops and rolls over. Unfortunately, you just have to learn to block out your LO's noises. I don't hear DD anymore unless she starts crying otherwise I don't think i'd ever get any sleep. Confused

larlemucker · 31/05/2013 09:00

Baby larle woke an hour after transfer, again. So fed, put in cot. Woke an hour later, rocked to sleep. In the night I tried to move in bed and couldn't. Forgot he was asleep on my arm, again!!!

Think I am going to have to resign myself to the fact that he wants to sleep in our bed! I just don't know how he manages to wake up EXACTLY an hour after transfer!!!

Anypants · 31/05/2013 22:26

How's everyone's nights going so far? We went to the beach today - lots of fresh air so am hoping DD will sleep soundly Grin

abi2790 · 31/05/2013 22:26

Ds has not been happy today with the heat. Plus I felt a little bit of his first tooth Grin! He's woken up twice tonight already and been very upset so I've given some calpol and he seems to be going back to sleep.

OP posts:
larlemucker · 01/06/2013 00:26

DS woke at half 11, had 2 transfer fails. Does not bode well HmmHmm
