Well, can you believe this is our FIRST feed!! We co-slept from half 10 and this is him just up now. Co-sleeping is not really a habit I want to get into so will try cot again tonight but if it means nights like this I may be tempted!

Thanks SoYo, Any, Giraffe and Pine! I have no idea how people did it without a Smart phone lol!

Sorry for the bad nights!

Mrsn. That's great news. You need a few more like that.

One or two feeds here (on second morning feed now).

that's great mrsN ! its amazing the difference a god nights sleep makes.

DS did quite well last night too. down at7.30 woke up at 9.45 i think because of the wind (outsideSmile ) then that was him until 6.00!

Glad you got a better night MrsN - I can totally understand not wanting to make it a habit, but if a bit of co-sleeping gets you some rest, it will make it so much easier to tackle sleeping issues when you want to try again. I'm sure DS went through a phase as a similar age where even sleeping in the bedside crib wasn't enough, he had to be snuggled up against me.

And, drumroll please.... He slept 8pm to 5am last night! Shock I daren't think of it as the new way of things, but even if it is an anomaly, that's an anomaly which hasn't happened for 5 months! I of course still woke up in the night as I am now programmed to, but hey, if he ever gets into a proper pattern of sleeping through I'm sure I will going back to doing so myself eventually.

See, even the crappest of sleepers can do it sometimes!

But now he's running a temperature Sad

I have felt like a different person today with an uninterrupted nights sleep last night! Starting to get a bit anxious about bedtime looming though......

That's a great night tea - hope the temperature doesn't come to anything!

A lovely, sunny day here after all that wind last night! We walked to Asda and then on the way back I just kept walking to try and keep little man asleep - he had a 1 hour and 20 min nap which was great for him!

Well done MrsN! if co sleeping works go for it.

Littlejack I am wondering that too...

Poor miniTea, hope he is not too poorly.

Thanks Any.. Sadly DD is just the same during the day, doesn't sleep in the Moses basket for long, just on us. DH is only working part time at the mo so I am making use of him when I can, so I know I'm luckier than some.

DD had her first dr checkup today. He was very sympathetic (our dr rocks Grin ) but basically said we are at peak time for general wind/colic issues and we should stick it out for another four weeks or so before thinking about medicating beyond Infacol etc. BUGGER. Not what I was hoping to hear!! However DD is thriving so I guess that's the main thing. And her first vaccinations went ok.

On the bright side, my DM came to visit today, so I spent the morning catching up with housework and the afternoon sleeping, god it felt good Grin Also she reckons that after my first jabs I slept pretty solidly for two days straight, so you never know, here's hoping...

Glad to hear MrsN - everything's better after a good night's sleep.
I'm going for a first attempt at a BW style schedule today. DD has so far been compliant and she's having her last feed now before bedtime with a story. Fingers crossed for a 10-11pm feed (not dream feed - not attempted that yet) and then i'll get to bed before midnight tonight. I'll keep you updated... Grin

Glad you had a good night's rest MrsN :)

After a terrible night last night both me and ds are shattered and he's had about half an hour's nap all day. He's been bathed and massaged. hes had some calpol for his teeth which probably won't make a difference and now he's having his bedtime feed. Wish us luck for a better night!

mrsn glad to hear you got some sleep! Before BG was born I swore up, down and sideways that I would never co sleep. Can't remember how many days that one lasted after he came home, but I don't think I made a week! Grin And then at 6 months he decided he'd had enough, and went to his cot. We are still in and out a bit, but mostly he sleeps on his own room.

Sleep ebbs and flows here... We had a couple of pretty good nights. Then I went back to work today. I was fine, unfortunately and alas, BG was not. He exploded at the bottom end this morning all over the CM's living room... She rang me to inform me, but kept him for the day as all seemed well after that. But then tonight he has done the most massive p&s ever from both ends. A whole day's feeds all over the kitchen floor, mostly undigested. (Sorry for info). As DH is a teacher and is doing speaking tests with his students this week, it is down to me to stay home with my poor lamb. So one day at work and home again for the 48 hour exclusion!

I hope the sleep deprived get some sleep soon.

DS has been asleep for over an hour touch wood so I'm going to get some sleep myself. Fingers crossed for 8 hours like Saturday night!

Baby larle had screaming fit this eve.
What do you do when you have tried everything to stop them crying? DH sat in dark rocking him and he has finally cried himself to sleep. Worried that we have let him CIO, something I swore I would never do. He didn't get put down or left the entire time he was crying.
Feeling like a bad mum Hmm

Nightmare goat! Especially when back at work! Hope kid is ok xx larle we've had times like that too & is usually overtiredness or teeth! And there's not much you can do! Hope LO is ok tho xx

We've had slightly better nights by our shitty standards! we have switched to aptamil comfort milk for colic & constipation (he wasn't pooing for days on end) & I have to say I've seen an improvement hoping I've not jinxed it.

Mrsn glad you got some sleep! I also said I'd never co sleep! Never did it with DD but this time round was totally different!

Anyway, on dream feed now then hoping for long stretch, but expecting the usual 3 hours! A girl can hope!

May the force be with you tonight ladies Grin x

Also on dream-like feed - DD is half asleep so i'll try not to wake her too much. She's normally wide awake now so hopefully she's aware of my plans and is still playing along. Or she has evil plans for the rest of the night and is lulling me into a false sense of sleep-rich security. Only time will tell. Next stop 3am?

goat if I'd seen your post earlier I'd have called you, feel its prob too late now in case you're asleep but if you see this in time I'd be happy to help out with BG to save you having to take time off so soon. Dd1 is at childminder's tues & weds so there's a spare seat in the buggy that's his if he wants it. I'm logging off MN now but if you want to text me I'll see it at the next feed. Hope first day back went ok otherwise!

Will catch up with posts later, hoping for lots of sleepy dust for everyone.

Heff xx

Oh and larle - interesting pearl of wisdom I came across: if LO is crying with eyes shut, they're in pain. If eyes are open, they are not. This helped me get through the last few crying sessions as I knew she was ok and just needed to be comforted to sleep. Not a bad Mum, just a bad day. Smile

GiraffesAndButterflies · 16/04/2013 02:21

Anyone else's LO do late cluster feeding? We had a near-constant boob session from about 10-midnight. I've had a bit of sleep though as DH took DD after that.

Off to try a transfer but I suspect I'll be posting again soon, wishing you all good sleeps in the meantime

First feed here, although not as good as last night it's still a pretty good stretch and he's been in his cot.

Larle you are not a bad mummy - sometimes there is nothing you can do. When little man cries like that it's usually a sore tummy or teeth. You are doing everything you can - that's a great mummy.

Goat poor BG - hope he's better soon.

Amey glad you have some improvement! It's hard work this parenting malarkey isn't it lol!

Haha, sure enough, failed transfer!

abi wishing you luck for those 8 hrs.

larle don't feel like a bad mum, sometimes they just can't be comforted. But imagining it from my LO's perspective, it's a very different thing for me to be inconsolable and have DH there with me, than it is to be crying alone. So I'm sure it must feel different for our DC also. Didn't phrase that very well but hopefully makes sense!

Right, DD has finished feeding, now for an epic burping session so that hopefully she'll go down next time.

Second feed here. We had a transfer fail at the earlier feed but luckily ds self-settled not long after. I think he's feeling a little better as he's not been crying as much when he wakes. Maybe that Calpol worked after all.

DS is being weighed tomorrow. After all his brilliant weight gain (he's on the 91st centile for weight and height) I really hope his weight hasn't dipped again. I guess if it has though we will have an explanation for his 1-3 hourly feeds when he was doing 5-6 hours.
