A nice shiny new thread!

Me too Any!

Can teething lead to more wakings/feeds at night? I think one of the top ones is starting to break through!

Ouch, I hate the Katie Price boobs feeling!

Really feeling for everyone who had such bad nights. I, um, think I stole your sleepy dust... Blush DD has just woken up, meaning I've had 7 hours in 3 chunks. We did have a two hour waking/walking/crying period in the middle there, but that's still the best she's been in weeks.

If that's making you hate me, console yourselves with the fact that this arose from giving up chocolate!! Grin

larlemucker · 18/04/2013 12:48

Not sure what's worse, not sleeping or giving up chocolate!!

MrsN book says to let DH do it if you are breast feeding as the smell of milk may keep them awake!

MrsNPattz · 18/04/2013 17:22

I don't think I could manage without chocolate!!

Larle I spoke to a very helpful hv this afternoon at booby group about his night wakings, and she basically suggested what you are going to do - don't feed him! I think I will keep the 3ish am feed but he will not be feeding every 2 hours tonight, dreading it Sad

larlemucker · 18/04/2013 17:46

Think we will start tonight MrsN as I need to start sleeping.
Here to hand hold!

MrsNPattz · 18/04/2013 17:52

Here to hand hold too Larle!

3 1/2 lb off!!! Grin

Anypants · 18/04/2013 18:57

Well, i've been on two hourly feeds since 2pm (i'm choosing to gloss over the hourlys from 11-2 as it doesn't matter now) so she could keep it up all night again. Sod giving up chocolate - I've just had half an easter egg that I found at the back of the fridge.
Good luck tonight Larle and MrsN and, if you need moral support (or biscuits) i'll be here, on my sofa, firmly rooted for the foreseeable future (or until the battery on my phone dies...) Envy

Anypants · 18/04/2013 18:57

Well done Marbles!

larlemucker · 18/04/2013 19:39

Well done marbles
any are you doing what I used to do and not going to bed? Nearly did me in, that's when midwife suggested topping up with formula.

Right ladies we start swim babies tomorrow. Someone tell me what to do!! Like what I need to take etc. class starts at 3 so what time should I get there?

MrsNPattz · 18/04/2013 19:49

Fantastic Marbles!

Oh Larle you will love it Smile we take for little man: 2 towels, 2 carrier bags for wet stuff/towels, toys to keep entertained in changing rooms, swim nappies, usual nappy changing gear, and stuff for me. We aim to get there half an hour before!

OP posts:
larlemucker · 18/04/2013 20:30

Yeah I was thinking half an hour before. Going to need a suitcase!!! Got a little dressing gown a friend bought so thought it might be good to take that for when he gets out if pool.
Got him a reusable swim nappy but worried that its too big as he is a skinny minny!
Hoping it'll make him sleep tomorrow night!!xx

larlemucker · 18/04/2013 20:44

Do I need to make sure he doesn't feed for an hour before class?

MrsNPattz · 18/04/2013 20:51

Yea, little man was really sicky so I fed him 2 hours before but one hour is ok if he is not a very sicky baby. I'm off to bed now - wish me luck for tonight!! And good luck to you xx

larlemucker · 18/04/2013 21:00

Good luck MrsN!!

Hope neither of us are on in the early hours!!

TeaandHobnobs · 18/04/2013 21:06

Good luck MrsN Smile

It's just a question of finding a way to soothe him without feeding. I know some people say you shouldn't have any kind of prop, but from personal experience, it was much easier to find another way of settling him that wasn't boob, then later figure out how to get him to self-soothe. Just holding a hand on his chest and shhhing might help, or heartbeat tapping on his chest if he gets really antsy (this used to work like a dream with DS, now he gets pissed off and bats my hand away. In fact he doesn't like me touching him at all sometimes and tries to prise my fingers off his chest, sneaky wotsit).

Will be thinking positive thoughts for you.

Last night was just so colossally awful here - there was a terrible moment where I thought I might actually smother DS or shake him Sad the screaming was relentless and nothing I could do would stop it. He eventually went to sleep around 2 or 3 on my chest with me sitting up (much like the early days). I am a broken woman today, so DH has said he will cover the first part of the night if I go to bed now. Just hoping DS's temp doesn't come back up again this evening Sad

Night everyone, hope it is quiet for you Flowers

SoYoFromKokomo · 18/04/2013 21:41

Good luck tonight MrsN & Tea, I hope your night is better.

Nighttime feed here after fresh air walk, fingers crossed for a good stretch.

MrsNPattz · 18/04/2013 21:51

Thanks guys. First up time here already and hubby is settling little man.

Oh Tea you poor thing - I hope you get plenty of rest now.

Babybeesmama · 18/04/2013 22:25

Dropping in, hideous night last night here, DD up crying with temp then seemed brighter this morning after nurofen, took her and babybee to cafe to meet SIL and she spectacularly puked all over me in the middle of the cafe Blush! Poor sausage looked so pale & poorly. I quickly got her in car then babybee & drove home covered in vom! Felt like a really bad mummy for taking her out when she wasn't well! :( second tummy bug in a week - not good.

Babybee teething like a trooper Confused - one top tooth almost through now but requires nurofen every 6 hours at night or he wakes up screaming.

Tired beyond belief. Luckily DM came to rescue!

Sorry not to name check

Xxxxxx

Anypants · 18/04/2013 23:10

If it's any consolation Tea, I had several moments today where I would have happily thrown DD on the floor and walked out. Wouldn't have stopped her crying but I would have felt better Angry
I'm going for a lie down while DH looks aftet her - he's resorted to playing sift rock hits of the 80's on MTV classic which is keeping her quiet, but ultimately not helping her sleep. Let's see what state she's in in a couple of hours...

Anypants · 18/04/2013 23:29

*soft rock

GoatBongosAnonymous · 18/04/2013 23:29

Good luck mrsn and larle ! Have some Brew to fortify you. Also some Brew for any on her sofa, filled with soothing stuff that is chocolates and helps LOs sleep.
Hooray for marbles and for giraffe ! That lack of choc so needed to deliver results.
tea hope mini tea is on the mend!
As for us not a good night last night with poor BG in obvious discomfort. Had had had to go to work today so grandma came to look after him. He had to be prised from me and I left him wailing bitterly Sad Of course he was fine fairly quickly, I wasn't though! Tell me this gets easier...
He has perked up a lot but now DH is down with it and is lying in the other room a complete wreck Sad Again I have to work tomorrow. Interesting first week back!

MissingMyMarbles · 18/04/2013 23:46

Missmarbles is poorly/teething I can't decide. She's been clingy and whinny all day. Sat with her upright this morning from about 5 as she was full of snot and it was making her puke. She was better after that but hasn't been her happy self. We've had ear pulling too and chomping so she's had calpol but she's been up for a good half hour already which I was really hoping was a thing of the past. She's asleep now. Hoping that's her for the night. I'm at work tomorrow, on days though.
Here's hoping for quiet nights all round.

MissingMyMarbles · 18/04/2013 23:47

Whingey* not whinny Hmm

GiraffesAndButterflies · 19/04/2013 00:28

Wow a lot of ill DC on the thread tonight. Un-MN hugs to you all.

I can't get DD to let go of my boobs... Very sleepy. How come we can be asleep on our feet and yet DC seem totally unaffected?
