...so my SIL told me today. I am sat here crying and I don't know what to do. Today my SIL told me that I was disgusting for still breastfeeding my DD and I was being cruel to DH by continuing to exclude him!! My DD is only 6 months old and i am trying to do the best for her and DH understands this and supports me. It's just SIL who feels like she can get at me by putting me down. She loves to say how she bottle fed her two so she could have sex asap after the birth. SIL said her partner told her that her breasts were his and sexual not food. I can't believe she actually said this...I feel like I can never do anything right on that side of the family. Sorry for ranting...

btw, now you have got me shopping for bf necklaces Grin - it's amazing what you don't realise you need till you see it on mumsnet!

HBECK · 29/04/2006 23:32

wow cant believe that - you are doing the best for her and you wont be breastfeeding forever you should feel proud of yourself x

joelalie · 30/04/2006 08:03

Stupid c*w!!! Angry Can't beleive that she lets her DH what she does with her body.

Hope your DH had words with his moronic sister....

joelalie · 30/04/2006 08:04

Sorry that should have read 'can't beleive she lets her DH dictate what she does with her body'....Blush

Elf1981 · 30/04/2006 08:11

My body is my body and it is up to me what I decide to do with it. Whether I use my breasts for feeding my daughter or as something sexual for my DH it is my choice.

It is sad that some women cannot separate the two. Why is it only breasts that come under fire like this? I mean, if we're getting technical, are we saying that all women should have c-sections as the vagina is there for a mans pleasure not for the baby to come out of?!

I think it's sad that there are women out there that think like you SIL. You should ignore her, or let loose and tell her what a sad pathetic woman she is, and how its sad that in the year 2006, some women feel that they dont have control of their own bodies.

Rant over.

Elf1981 · 30/04/2006 08:12

By the way, re the distraction thing during feeding. My DD is almost seven months old and gets distracted at some feeds. I find it easier to feed her in a quiet room, by myself, no background noise. Try to see if that helps.

Elf1981 · 30/04/2006 19:39

ooooh, I'm such a thread killer Grin

Jzee · 30/04/2006 20:06

Is your SIL having a laugh??? What planet is she on? If I was you I would ignore her and breastfeed in her company as much as possible! Isn't it up to you what you choose to do with your baby? Tell her to keep her opinions to herself and don't let her get you down she's loopy!

earthmummy · 02/05/2006 13:03

i suppose cows udders were designed for making cows milk to then be turned into artificial formula. hmmm something doesnt quite seem right here!

desperateSCOUSEwife · 02/05/2006 13:06

rosebea ignore her or tell her to wind her neck
sounds a right silly bint

my tits are were made redundant 5 yrs ago

rosebea · 02/05/2006 15:41

Wow didn't realise this was still going!! Thanks for the loads of support. Saw SIL Friday and she started making smart comments about my "Udders" ie "could those udders get any bigger" "don't you feel like some kind of cow with her hanging off you like that" so in the end I just said that I was sorry that she had such an issue with me breastfeeding, and that I'd leave the room if it bothered her so much so i got up to sit in the sitting room. I managed to look a bit tearful and MIL went mad, said she'd had enough of SIL's childish behaviour and that if she couldn't keep her catty remarks to herself she shouldn't bother saying anything at all. So I sat back down and smuggly continued feeding..........It's amazing what a bollocking off your mom can do!!! Even when you're an adult! Grin

Rosebea, how brilliant!

Hope your SIL keeps her comments to herself in future - am sad that she feels this way, but she shouldn't try to impact on how you feed.

(Your MIL sounds all right!)

primogen · 02/05/2006 15:58

Glad to hear you're MIL backed you up rosebea. Not very often that a MIL sides with her DIL....I know my dear MIL would say day was night before she agreed to something I said!BTW how did it go with the breastfeeding necklace, did you get one in the end?

I've told DH that I want another for my birthday because a girl needs something to go with every outfit! Grin Blush

Good for you for bf, sad on her. Btw, can she point out the bit in the biology books that backs up her claim? Grin

I'm happy that dh likes my breasts but I'm flipping chuffed that I have fed ds with them! Smile

LeahE · 02/05/2006 16:21

Go rosebea's MIL!!!

primogen · 02/05/2006 16:22

Yes that's the same place as the one my DH got me. They are yummy aren't they?!What was your one like? I was suprised DH chose one so nice, in black and white stones, his taste usually starts and ends at flowers from the garage! This was to celebrate me getting pregnant though after a long time of trying (I am 39)so I think he was out to impress!

rosebea · 02/05/2006 16:28

I know MIL has gone up in my estimations!!! I think I'm fairly lucky beansprout, DH is just as proud that I fed DD's even though DD1 was only for a little while Sad and he tells everyone how fab I am!!!
Primogen well done you xxx You deserved a pretty necklace! I said to DH that if he was going to have a nasty sister then He had to make it up to me with prettys!!!!!
