Ah amey you sound like you said the right thing to me, I'd have wanted clarification too and mil probably didn't think before she said it.

Hope your journeys haven't set the tone for a bad night mrsn and marbles

I've had a really crappy night so far, usual bedtime routine at half 6, she seemed wide awake despite minimal naps today, have tried and failed all night to get her to sleep. We've gone from mildly disgruntled baby, getting a bit annoyed baby, really quite angry now baby, raging furious baby and back to happy smiley baby but nowhere has sleepy baby made an appearance. I've just given up, brought her downstairs so I can at least talk to DH and she's fallen straight to sleep on my lap Hmm The cat's just jumped up and snuggled down on the end of her grobag so now that's two comfy sleeping creatures looking all cute and innocent on my lap but I know better that they are both out to drive me round the twist

Hope better nights are occurring elsewhere!

Ps funch if you're out there hope The Voice enjoyed its return to work xx

MissingMyMarbles · 25/02/2013 22:43

Should have said (and thought I had til I just re read), we got home but the late nap worried me that she wouldn't settle for bed at the normal time. She went down a bit later, and gad the 45 minute intruder, but we've had a pleasant evening with our guests. DH has just gone to settle her because I only did the first feed an hour agoHmm

Hope you're home now, MrsN

Hope you've had a good day, Funch

I'd have had to clarify too, Amey. It's fair enough to check you're not the only thing stopping them living their dream, but I doubt very much it's their dream. If they really wanted to do it they would, and one day a week's childcare wouldn't stop that.

MrsNPattz · 26/02/2013 01:08

First feed here, I don't like these early feeds.

We got home ok thanks guys, that was a long one! Little man was so good though. And the Fisher Price Apps were a god send. As was hand clapping and singing his name!

Hope you get some sleep Heff!

BrainGoneAwol · 26/02/2013 01:20

Agree, sounds like mil was just making conversion and then realised she may have offended you by suggesting they'd move to be near bil so tried to rebalance it.

Sadly bouncing on the bed doesn't work for dp. Think it's a bit depressing that I can settle babybrain so easily but he just screams on dp Sad. There's nothing to be done I suspect except for dp to keep practicing but I think babybrain is just too used to me now.

mrsn & marbles glad you are home all safe. Bad accidents are scary. I've found I worry more about things now babybrain is around. We do have such a huge responsibility now ds/dd are around

Babybrain has woken 4 times since bed at 7.30. He was very windy this waking, so hoping that he'll fall asleep now.

MrsNPattz · 26/02/2013 01:27

And he's wide awake Blush

Ameybee · 26/02/2013 02:40

Thanks for the reassurance!

First bottle here, but he's been unsettled since 12 :(, really hope he settles after this.

Mrsn has little man gone back to sleep?? X

Susieloo · 26/02/2013 03:18

1st proper feed after the early evenings repeated transfer fails so not as bad as I feared, off to boots tomorrow to stock up on vicks, olbas oil etc, anyone know what the Vicks on there feet stops them coughing is about, I may have got that wrong though!!

brain I get quite freaked out when I think the sheer awesome responsibility of having ds-I try not to think about it too much!!

mrsn hope you are getting some sleep

Hello stitch and larle and pink and small if you are around and anyone else I've missed.

BrainGoneAwol · 26/02/2013 05:27

All quiet...

Have had two more wakes since 1.30. Rumbling tummy and wind. Isn't he supposed to be over this by 6 months?!

Hope silence is for good reasons. Smile

MissingMyMarbles · 26/02/2013 05:29

Not doing too badly. Fed on one side at 4.20, went to change sides and Missmarbles was very sleepy/asleep, when I discovered wetness on her sleeping bag. On further investigation, up to her armpitsAngry So annoying! Cue full change and now fully awake. Light show on and am listening to her singing. So hoping she settles down soon.....
It's not just that it's tiring for us if they don't sleep, I worry for them that they're not getting enough sleep either.

Susieloo · 26/02/2013 05:32

Up again..... So tired tonight, I'm out tonight for a couple of hours and I feel tired at the thought of it.

Agree marbles particularly because the nap situation is so bad in the day.

larlemucker · 26/02/2013 06:52

Just dropping in, phone batt been flat. Been up since 2.45 and knackered.
Sorry not to name check, handing Ds over to Dh so I can sleep

MrsNPattz · 26/02/2013 09:03

Morning, little man was awake for over an hour at last feed, then woke at ten to 5 but I put Ewan and the projector on and it settled him. I'm hoping Water Babies will knock him out tonight!! Hope everyone got more sleep.

I'm off to WW soon, will report back.

BrainGoneAwol · 26/02/2013 09:08

Agree marbles. It's such a ridiculous struggle getting him to nap in the day too. I do keep telling babybrain that the world will still be there tomorrow!

larlemucker · 26/02/2013 10:24

Glad it's not just baby larle that won't nap during the day!!
Good luck at ww, I'm waiting till I know what I'm getting paid to see if I can afford it!!
Baby larle went to MILs yest for a couple of hours, she loved having him and he seemed to love being there. Unfortunately I didn't leave her enough milk so she had to give him some cooled boiled water. I don't mind as a one off as its better than him crying and being hungry but she seems to think that sometimes he might be thirsty and not hungry so he should have water and it does him good to get used to water. Surely that's a load of bull!!!

Ameybee · 26/02/2013 11:25

Another crappy night here, not even co sleeping is helping. So I've decided he's going in his own room tonight & no more co sleeping unless its 6am and helps get another hour in.
DH thinks because I'm such a light sleeper I'm picking him up too quick when he might settle himself.

Swimming this afternoon, we shall see if it helps!!

Have a nice day all! Grin X

MissingMyMarbles · 26/02/2013 11:39

Larle breastfed and less than 6 months? Yes a load of bull!
Once weaning yes, water for thirst appropriate and he will drink it. He doesn't need to 'get used to it'. Like you say, ok for a one-off, not an evidence base for giving it.

BrainGoneAwol · 26/02/2013 11:58

Breastmilk is 90% water already! That sounds like an idea left over from the '70s to me...

I guess each dc is individual but dm made a comment to me that she thought I responded too quickly to babybrain in the night she obviously isn't aware of the times I've muted the monitor and accidentally dropped back off to sleep then and this was not letting him settle himself. Thing is, I know babybrain and he simply doesn't self-settle. He'll just graduate from grizzling to crying to full blown screaming. If I catch him early I can get him back to sleep more easily.

In the car yesterday he was tired and screamed for over an hour until I managed to sing him to sleep. And that's in a situation which should be perfect for dropping off.

Some babies just don't settle from crying it seems - at least not unless they are left until they give up which I think is different to being left to settle iykwim

MrsNPattz · 26/02/2013 12:05

Down another 1.5lb Smile

Ameybee · 26/02/2013 13:25

Well done mrsn! What's the total now? Are you starting to feel a difference in clothes etc? Xx

Susieloo · 26/02/2013 14:16

Well donemrsn Grin

brain babyloo is exactly the same, whenever I've tried to leave him to self settle he would just scream himself into a hot, sweaty, raging ball of fury that would then take me twice as long to calm down!!

Ameybee · 26/02/2013 15:44

Really not had a good day - took baby bee swimming n couldn't find anywhere to park - ended up having to turn round quickly and reversed into a parked car Confused no damage to ours but think they will need new Wing and bumper. Feel like a total idiot. Have been a blubbering wreck since I did it :(

larlemucker · 26/02/2013 18:06

Oh amey been there done that but I did £2000 worth of damage to our car and scratched the other car but parked somewhere else and didn't admit to it as it was the bosses BMW-Shock
Well done MrsN, my diet was going well till I bought a Belgian bun in greggs and some dark choc digestives!! Whoops!! The chocolate coated raisins don't count as they are one of my 5 a dayWink!!
We've been out in the sunshine all day in our new reuseable nappies which are fab!!
I have the same problem with light sleeping, I sometimes wonder if I should be getting him up when he is wiggling round the cot and banging his hands as his eyes aren't open. Think I might try settling him in the cot if he has just had a feed so I'm not getting him up all the time!!

EeyoresGloomyPlace · 26/02/2013 19:28

Wow well done mrsn that's great! You're my inspiration, I'm really trying but not doing half as well as you.

larle sorry I did Grin a bit at the boss's BMW! And yes, you mil is talking out of date bull, no need for water in a baby under 6 months being ebf.

amey hope you're ok now, these things happen to all of us try not to get too upset. Did you manage to enjoy swimming eventually?

brain babylump is the same, she has a distinct grumble that can be left to settle but if she starts to cry then it will quickly escalate into full histrionics if not addressed.

Talking of crying, she's driving me potty today :( poor sausage something's bothering her but I don't know what. She's just yelled and yelled today, really got worked up this afternoon with real tears :( :( I just feel so helpless I'm trying everything I can think of but it only works for a short time then she's off again. Have come to grandads for a glass of champagne in the hope the walk will send her off, so far so good. Crossing fingers she gets a good long sleep tonight as I think last night must have exhausted her.

Sleepy dust all round, see you later on xx

Ameybee · 26/02/2013 19:46

Thanks heff and larle! I did enjoy swimming kind of - luckily baby bed likes splashing so I had loads of water in my face which hid my bloodshot crying eyes!

I'm lucky - the lady who's car it is rang me & she was really lovely about it & thanked me for leaving my number. She has a relative who does body work repairs and she thinks she can get it done for less than excess so she's getting a quote. So glad she didn't shout at me!

Still feel like total twat who crashes a car when they have parking sensors??! but I know I was going too fast!

Ah heff, do you think baby lump is teething? That's what DS was like, proper crying & not at all his usual self. I got a good look in his mouth when he was screaming getting dry after swimming & I think there's more teeth coming - can see several white patches under lower gums! X

MrsNPattz · 26/02/2013 19:46

Oh no Amey! Hope you are feeling a bit better about it now.

Thanks guys! I have lost 11.5lb now - am really starting to feel it this last week and it just keeps spurring me on.

Oh no Heff - hope she has settled now. Little man was really grumpy at Water Babies, had to leave 5 mins early and he screamed the changing rooms down. Think it may have been hunger/tiredness. He hasn't had much of an afternoon nap so is shattered. I'm shattered too - I found myself losing patience earlier and then feeling so guilty Sad hate feeling like that, it's not little mans fault.

I have the GP tomorrow, I hope they have some answers or even possible answers.
