Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

smallgreenone I'd be interested to hear if your nct friends said there babies were sleeping through.
It'd be interesting to know if people really do lie about it after the experience I've had.
I know some must be truly lucky with their sleep but it can't be everyone lol

missingmymarbles · 01/11/2012 06:35

We've been up again for another green poo. Slightly concerned about the green but I know a couple of green ones once in a while us normal. She's fine in every other way except red cheek and mega feeding. She us clingy but is finding everything terribly amusing, which, at these times of the morning I am notHmm

TurquoiseCat · 01/11/2012 07:32

Well, BabyCat has had sleep, I kept waking up - WTF is that about?! She is getting better at burping herself after a feed, I'm very proud Grin and she now wakes up for a feed with comedy trumps which makes me laugh!

mrsn I'll second missing about boob rage - I find a good burp helps?

missing WRT green poops, I was reassured myself by (I think, sorry I'd I'm wrong) small about this exact thing, so now I don't mind if its one or two green poops.

goat I don't know if its organised or stupid. Going to have loads of toys for her. Seems like it's not just the DGPs that will be spoiling her!

Babycat's got the hiccups after this feeds so is now super awake Sad.

MrsNPattz · 01/11/2012 07:41

He finally went to sleep with the help of Ewan and we got 3.5 hours Smile still shattered, I have my 6 week check with the dr this morning then I'm hoping for some sleep with little fella!

couscous, it could well be a growth spurt - he is 6 weeks old which I think is a known one?

susie glad it's not just me! I think sometimes i just feel like a pair of boobs and that's it lol!

goat thanks for the reassurance, glad you had a better night!

small sorry you are feeling rubbish too - hope meeting with the NCT girls cheers you up!

vicky I haven't tried gripe water but he is having infacol - can he have both or should I maybe try gripe water for a while instead? Thanks so much for your help!

mini sorry your little pumpkin was poorly but the way you posted it did make me smile Smile

BabylonPI · 01/11/2012 07:49

Right....

Firstly apologies for not updating sooner or namechecking!

DS has been feeding hourly through the nights only for the last week or so and I am knackered Sad

I started weening him, which is going great, but he's wide awake at nightSad

So, long story short, I've hurt given him a 6oz bottle of formula SadSad
This is what HV suggested. I could cry, really I could, but I do need some sleepHmm

So should I feel guilty or not SadSmile

Course you shouldn't feel guilty babylon , you've done a fantastic job of feeding him. Never feel guilty for any if your decisions as you will always have made them with his best interests put first.

mrsn please don't feel rubbish, as everyone else has already said you're found amazingly and its just sometimes hard. Babies often seem to settle with minimum effort into men, I think it really is something to do with broader shoulders, bigger hands etc making them more comfortable. I know that if I was a baby I'd prefer DH's big broad chest to my bony one! It's annoying though isn't it when you pass them over afte pulling your hair out for ages only for then to settle immediately. I also think she that happens it could be because by the time you hand them over they're all cried out anyway.

goat your MIL sounds lovely, nothing like being waited on especially when you've got a LO and are tired.

minipop your post made me lol Grin

I had a rubbish night but it wasn't babylump's fault, have been having really horrible stomach cramps since yesterday evening and feel so sick. Don't know what it is but I wish it would go away, I had to co sleep so that babylump could get fed as cant bear to hold her weight over my stomach to feed normally. We're downstairs now, she's gurgling away on her playmat and I've let DD1 plonk herself in front of Peppa while I sit her feeling sorry for myself and waiting to throw up :(

On a brighter note there are a few trick or treat sweets left :)

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 01/11/2012 08:14

Oh FFS autocorrect has made half that post gibberish. You know what I meant anyway...!

Smicha · 01/11/2012 08:18

What a rubbish night. Wideawake baby and stressed mummy! Ended up with him in bed with me and my boobs out so he could snuffle into them, which was all he wanted to do, and we dozed like that. I don't like giving in to his need to use me like that but I was too exhausted to care!

mrsn we get boob rage too and I've discovered it's because I have fast let down and they take on the properties of a fire hydrant! If he pulls off at the wrong moment I'm capable of spraying the whole room!!

MrsNPattz · 01/11/2012 09:22

babylon aw you shouldn't feel guilty - you need to do what's best for you and baby! You are doing so well!

couscous hope so!

Thanks heff, sorry you are feeling rotten - that can't be easy with two! Take it easy - is there anyone who can help today?

smicha it's good to know I'm not alone with the boob rage! I don't think it's my let down as I don't spray Grin possibly wind as others have said, I will have to try and figure it out by looking at the signs for a while!

Managed to shower while he slept in his swing chair so feel a bit more human!

funchum8am · 01/11/2012 10:56

couscous thanks I hadn't thought about repeatedly offering each boob as I thought she'd struggle to get much milk but I will definitely try it. I already do out of desperation sometimes but doing it deliberately would reduce my stress levels if that makes sense!

We were awake from 2 til 5 feeding constantly then DH was a hero and took her out in the car. He came back with shopping as he went to 24 hour Asda to pass the time :)

I really hope babyfunch starts to get night and day the right way round soon as it is killing me being up from 1am every day!

MrsNPattz · 01/11/2012 16:12

I love American Soda delivery days Grin

Smallgreenone · 01/11/2012 17:31

Baby small is asleep on me. I actually love afternoon snooze time when he sleeps on me. He should really be having a bath soon but I'm not going to wake him he can just go to bed later.
I noticed his breath smelled of sour milk so took him to the drs today after googling it and coming up with silent reflux. The dr said it could be and we've got infant gaviscon- anyone else had this?

Smallgreenone · 01/11/2012 18:18

Oh also, met nct girls and their babies don't sleep through either- sorry forgot who wanted to know that! I know we are not alone as we are all here at night but its nice to know that others from
my nct are struggling too Grin

MummyVicky18 · 01/11/2012 19:43

It was me small its reassuring that we're not alone

Baby J has hardly slept during the day today Sad but I have been round to my mum & dads who let me have a snooze for a bit.

Poor mite is rubbing his eyes out I can tell he's so tired but he just won't go to sleep. I've tried all the usuals, even feeding isn't working. I've just plonked him down in his cot Sad coz I don't know what else to do

Evilwater · 01/11/2012 19:49

MV - have you placed him on your chest? It works wonders for my LO.

Here to all of us getting a good nights sleep.
Evil

Goatbongosanonymous · 01/11/2012 19:50

small we use infant gaviscon, though I am not convinced that it really works in our case. But friends have sworn by it!

vicky sorry the sleep is tough at the moment, but glad you got a bit yourself. The relentlessness of this stage is absolutely wearing.

Kid had an absolute ball at his prem group this morning but has been rather wired since and we are currently paying for over-tiredness. Hopefully he will settle soon.

MrsNPattz · 01/11/2012 19:51

I haven't heard of that small, hope little one is ok.

vicky it's horrible isn't it, hope he settles for you soon.

I think we are in for another bad night. Does anyone use a dummy?

MummyVicky18 · 01/11/2012 20:00

Funny you've just asked that npattz

I've just tried giving a dummy to baby J. He doesn't usually keep it in his mouth. It's kept him quiet for a short while but us now crying his head off again.

TeaandHobnobs · 01/11/2012 21:03

DS has had a dummy since he was about 2 months, I think? It has been great to settle him back to sleep in the night and to try and calm him down when he gets fractious, particularly in the car - although sometimes he just spits it out!

Ameybee · 01/11/2012 22:51

Bad night here so far! Little man fell asleep at 6pm till 9pm n still haven't got him back down - he's having non of it! I'm knackered after last nights performance. DH has been in bed 5 mins and snoring away already after his late night out last night - grr! Hope everyone else doing alright! Vicky - we also tried a dummy with no success! DD would never take one either! X

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 01/11/2012 23:17

Hi everyone,

Having a bit of a wobble here. Think its just combination of feeling ill and just tiredness. I went to bed at 9 for a nap hoping for a few hours, DH had babylump until hand 10 then he came up with her so I've fed and now back downstairs with crying baby and everyone else gone to bed. Hoping she's just a bit over tired and I'll be able to get her to drop off soon.

How was everyone's day? We went to the farm, DD1 had lots of fun feeding the goats and jumping in puddles, babylump was a bit unsettled but generally we had a lovely day despite rubbish weather.

Sleepy dust all round :)

funchum8am · 02/11/2012 00:37

Sorry to hear you are up while others are asleep amey and heff - it makes it seem worse doesn't it?

First feed here tonight; after terrible night last night I need a few longer stretches of sleep. she went from about 7 til just now and if she goes mote than 30 mins at a stretch now it will be a record as she is always up feeding soooo often after midnight.

At one point this evening, my dad, DH and babyfunch were all asleep in front of the tv while I was awake....surely I am first in line for naps?!

Happy sleepies everyone!

pommesdeterreetfromageblanc · 02/11/2012 02:08

argh, I just lost 20 ml of expressed milk because I did not put the lid on correctly... no point crying over spilt milk?!

Smallgreenone · 02/11/2012 02:24

How do you get kid to take it goat have just got it all over him! Maybe we won't use it at night as its a bit of a faff.
Sorry to hear you're having a bad time heff
pommes I did cry over spilt milk a few nights ago- that stuff is precious!!
Hope the sleepy mice have visited all.
