Welcome all to a shiny new thread for moral support during night feeds, general food envy and chit chat Grin

OP posts:
Susieloo · 28/10/2012 01:53

2nd feed of the night and I am trying to defrost little icy fingers, just put the heater back on to take the edge of the room.

Does anyone know if it has already been 01.39 once today or of the clocks have already gone back or they are going back in twenty mins? Really hope they have already gone back otherwise we are back to feeding every couple of hours again, I feel your pain babylon

Oh dear, nappy change after random middle of the night poo means one very awake babySad

NervousAt20 · 28/10/2012 01:57

The clocks have home back now susieloo not sure about when you posted though

Third feed here for us and again only an hour between feeds and we've already been up once at this time today!! I'm thinking I deserve the kitkat I have in the side of my nursing chair??

HeavenlyWineandRoses · 28/10/2012 02:02

Hello everyone. Can I join? My little girl is four weeks old and weighs 8lbs4oz although it currently feels like she's aiming to double her weight in a week as she has been feeding so much the past 48 hours.

DD seems to save all her poos for nighttime. Her bowels really need to learn the difference between night and day.

Loving this extra hour already. Last night was pretty sleepless so I am really hoping to do some catching up tonight and that the extra hour will help with that.

Noticing there are a few mums to six month olds on here. I am really hoping to have graduated from here by then. Have there been many graduates? A month in and I'm knackered and can't imagine what I'll be like if this continues for another five months.

HeavenlyWineandRoses · 28/10/2012 02:06

nervous what age is your baby? Sounds like a growth spurt which is w hat I am putting my DD's current feeding frenzy down to.

MrsNPattz · 28/10/2012 02:14

First feed here and have no idea what's happening with the clocks going back, I thought it had only been a couple of hours but I can add an hour on to that I guess? Poor little thing has been waking me up for the last hour sneezing and coughing - hope its not a proper cold,

I think I'm over the evenings drama, little fella certainly is. They don't warn you about sick in antenatal classes do they [hhmm] lol

goat another gu fan here, those sound delicious! I just finished my dark choc (gone white [hsad]) pretzels and some chocolate rice cakes.

Hi daisy congratulations!

MrsNPattz · 28/10/2012 02:15

nervous you definitely deserve the kitkat!

NervousAt20 · 28/10/2012 02:19

Welcome heavenly [hsmile]

My DD will only be 9 days old tomorrow. She's just always been longer between feeds, I often had to wake her then in a day she's gone from 2-3 hours to 1 or less

Thank you mrsn want to share?

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 28/10/2012 02:31

First feed here after a successful dream feed. And no gripe water necessary so far. Yay!

Yes, the clocks have gone back, so you can add an extra hour on mrsn (was well organised and put alarm clock back before bed, and now Iphone matches it).

I'm letting DH sleep through this feed (he normally gets up with me on a w/e) as he is really struggling with work and the baby, and he didn't catch up with sleep yesterday flipping saintly martyr I am.

goat food news - Pizza Hut delivery yesterday, Texas meat feast with a stuffed crust, yum yum. Followed by rum and raisin chocolate Smile

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 28/10/2012 02:33

nervous you poor sod! A kitkat sounds like the minimum of what you deserve!

funchum8am · 28/10/2012 02:44

Get that kitkat out nervous, you have earned it!

heavenly welcome - can't comment on graduates or older babies as my DD is only 3 weeks but I know my niece who is 9 months isn't sleeping through (sorry!) She actually did sleep through for a couple of months but then stopped. SIL and DB are not massively into firm routines (db works shifts) so it may be a situation others could avoid but I know they are finding it a bit wearing, esp as DSIL goes back to work in Dec.

Not sure how I will cope if babyfunch turns out to be a poor sleeper long term. She is happily asleep on me now...may try risking operation transfer again and see if she stays asleep this time.

Here's hoping...

rowingdowntheriver · 28/10/2012 02:49

I've had a miracle on the sleep front tonight, DS slept from about 8 to 11 then DH gave him 50ml I expressed yesterday morning, brought him upstairs at 12 when I fed him and then he went down until now!

Compared to the other night when I couldn't get him to settle in his Moses basket until 5am it has been wonderful!

And nervous, yes you definitely deserve the kitkat!

rowingdowntheriver · 28/10/2012 02:53

Waves to rowing!

TurquoiseFrankenCat · 28/10/2012 02:57

Congrats rowing - and you got an extra hour as well!

BabyCat has no decided that now is awake time so I think my extra hour will be spent convincing her otherwise banished to a dark room for me

funchum8am · 28/10/2012 03:13

Transfer did not work, I need to get some saline drops or something for all the snot. DH is now dealing with "the worst nappy she has done to date" so maybe she will settle after another feed....please....I am going to get a stash of more enticing and fattening snacks to console myself on nights like this!

Good luck in your dark room turquoise

Susieloo · 28/10/2012 03:14

We have been up for an hour and a half and had two nappy changes and a change of clothes, hate leaving a radiator on in the bedroom but it goes down to 16 degrees if I don't. Think tonight's lack of sleep is down to no proper naps in the day, worrying me that in his little head it's now ten past four so he will want to get up in a couple of hours.

Welcome heavenly, there have been a couple of graduates, babyloo is just coming up to 16 weeks and is still waking at least twice with a 7-8 bed time.

Feeding slowing down so hoping he will have tired himself out enough to want to go back to sleep.

Hope everyone getting some zzzzzzz

Oh and tonight's snack was a random scotch pancake!

daisychain76 · 28/10/2012 03:15

Thanks for the welcome. heff my other dcs are 8 and 5. Sat here feeling fed up cos 5 live is brooadcasting baseball. l need my dose of current affairs to keep awake!

Susieloo · 28/10/2012 03:17

Welcome daisy

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 28/10/2012 03:20

I'm having the same problem cat, trying to convince babylump it is definitely still sleepy time but with little success :( Bursting for the loo so may have to plonk her in her crib anyway & just hope she changes her mind about it all.

Nervous eat the kitkat, youve definitely earned it. Lemon drizzle cake here and pretzels, so bad but so so good [hgrin]

funchum8am · 28/10/2012 03:28

Baseball?? I'm with you daisy, that just isn't going to keep you awake! Can you get iPlayer on your phone and listen to something decent that way? (I realise not everyone has a smartphone!)

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 28/10/2012 03:41

Damnit the plonk and run technique didn't work :( suppose I didn't expect anything more but did have a tiny hope she'd be asleep when I got back from the loo. Now she's dozing on me but doesn't seem to be going deep enough for me to put her down.

Who mentioned stuffed crust pizza earlier, my favourite, now I'm craving pizza too! It's a good job I'm so tired really or I'd be downstairs scoffing.

Really hope the clock change doesn't mean we're all up and hour earlier in the morning.

Rachel130690 · 28/10/2012 03:42

Oh first time I'm up. I'm wrecked as I spent 2-3 hours walking about to get him to settle at 12. Only for him to wake up as soon as I put him down. So he is sleeping in my bed. As he is dosed with the cold and won't settle in crib.

Hope everyone is catching a few zzzz's

Smallgreenone · 28/10/2012 03:58

I can't keep up with the thread!!! Hi all newbies.
So really it's nearly 5 not 4 which means baby small has done pretty well. If he just goes back until 7 or 8 now that would be perfect. I don't think he will as he never settles well at this feed.
It's freezing here too. We had the log burner on and the heating!! Also think the forecast for today is rain, at least yesterday was cold but gorgeously sunny.

Attempting transfer 1...........

Smallgreenone · 28/10/2012 04:02

Massive fail after cot transfer 1, start again

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 28/10/2012 04:16

I think I've finally got babylump on her crib asleep. Just hanging on a few more minutes before I go to sleep too just in case it's a false start & I have to get up again.

My wifi is being difficult tonight which is getting annoying, I'm trying to watch yesterdays Chas & Dave documentary that I missed on tv but it keeps stopping, if I switch to using 3G will it cost me a fortune? I'm rubbish with all things technical so no idea how much of my data allowance the iplayer would take up?

Right going to try for a sleep now, its too cold to be sat up any longer. Sending more sleepy mice out to all :)
