Susieloo · 23/10/2012 20:51

Good luck for tonight mummyv

Loislane78 · 23/10/2012 21:01

Good sleeping minipop! :) Have to say since I move LO to own room she has also slept much better, don't know if coincidence but everyone was waking each other up I think.

She's had jabs today and not quite herself poor little thing so hoping for an ok night.

Hope everyone has a good night :)

MummyVicky18 · 23/10/2012 21:28

Here we go Sad

Put baby J down at 8.30 and had a bit of time to myself. Been in bed 10 mins and he's now awake Sad I could cry Sad

Can you girls please help me keep my sanity tonight. Is there a game we could play or something? X

Clumsasaurus · 23/10/2012 22:07

You poor thing mummyV I'm crap with games but can highly recommend Miranda on BBC iplayer! It keeps my spirits up Grin

I keep waking babysaurus up! I have a cough and just ad he dozes off whilst feeding I have to cough and round we go again!

Does any one use a mei tai carrier/sling?

We'll need a new thread so

Tallgiraffe · 23/10/2012 22:08

Vicky, stay strong, you will get through this. One night at a time.

As for games, how about what was the strangest baby gift you were given...?

Ours would have to bea pair of wooly tights with a face on the bum cheeks. For our boy!!

Clumsasaurus · 23/10/2012 22:09

Stooopid phone!

We'll need a new thread soon as they max out at 1000 posts!!!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 23/10/2012 22:22

clums MummyV I'm getting Thomas to text your little ones with some sleeping tips (although it's all gone pear shaped tonight, so maybe we wont get a repeat tonight!)

Thanks Susieloo Grin, I agree with you about the sleeping - sometimes they need extra sleep. MiniPop slept for seven hours in the car (not all in one go) on the way to the Midlands, and still went to sleep at 10:30pm like he usually does.

Also Had MiniPop weighed again today, he's 14.2lbs but dropped a centile (and you know how I love those! Hmm

Ohh, hope little one sleeps ok post jabs Lois

Clums I had a sling but MiniPop got to heavy for it (just used to sink, it was a Caboo), have since upgraded to a Baby Bjorn carrier and he absolutely loves it.

Vicky Good luck for tonight, you'll get through it. Not sure about games either... how about what do you all watch on iplayer etc...? Might give you some ideas on waht to watch. I also play draw something on my phone Grin

Hope everyone is well..? I have to admit I haven't gone back through all the posts (sorry :() but I will try and keep up now..

Tea Hope things are a little bit better for you sleepwise? I've also moved MiniPop out the carrycot on some occasions, but others he;s stil in it. SItting up helps with his reflux, too.

have you started weaning BabyTea yet?

Goat How old it your little one? I forgot (Sorry), when are you going to wean?

Opps. epic post sorry!!

Clumsasaurus · 23/10/2012 22:31

Thanks pop we have a baby bjorn, I may re-try it before spending more £££ on slingy-things... Babysaurus has got über clingy (cute but tough going)

Loving the weirdest baby gift game... We got soft toy, baby blue mickey mouse rattle, official merchandise but the scariest thing I have ever seen! He is known as fugly mickey in our house and heading to the charity shop soon...! And some size 3 pampers... For our 7lb newborn! Boy have they been fun to store for 10 weeks! like we dont have enough baby crap to find house space for! Best gift £100 Boots gift card, only to find you can't use them online (sort it out Boots!) but a fabtabulous gift for a new family Smile

Clumsasaurus · 23/10/2012 22:36

Just a thought re another game for the night.... Weirdest/strangest ord you ve used today...? Mine... Sputum in conversation with a pharmacist about my annoying cough!

Where are we all geographically? Maybe we can send some sleepy dust in various directions! I'm in London

Clumsasaurus · 23/10/2012 22:37

Word.. Not ord...!

Tallgiraffe · 23/10/2012 22:44

We have an ergo carrier that miniG loves! Great for walking the dog.

I'm in Lancashire, sending sleep dust in all directions!

Thought of our other crazy gift, a Ralph lauren polo top aged 5 years. Erm ok, how am I going to remember where I've stored that in 5 years time?!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 23/10/2012 22:53

Wow minipop that's a great night, hope it continues!

vicky keep going it can't last forever, we'll definitely do our best to keep you sane (although do sometimes question my own sanity at 3am...). DH & I play all sorts of stupid word games to pass the time & stay awake in the car when we're travelling but they are pretty naff simple. We're both petrol heads so a favourite is the alphabet game with cars, would that translate well into an online game?! Will try and think of something better before signing in next!

We've been lucky enough not to get any really strange gifts, some quite ugly clothes but there's no accounting for taste I suppose & they are usually exchangeable.

Haven't heard from some of the original posters for quite a while, hope that means lots of babies have started sleeping through and that there's hope for us all yet!

Goatbongosanonymous · 23/10/2012 23:20

Vicky so sorry it's horrible at the moment Sad. I really hope you get some well-deserved sleep tonight. We will have to get the good sleepers to lead the Starlight Barking.

Kid just spent two hours on the Moses basket!!! He was the loudest sleeper ever and it was only two hours, but it's a start. We are now on feed number 1.

Minipop , hope you had a lovely weekend away. We haven't dared try that yet but will be next week for half term. We figure Kid's stuff will take so much room that we might just have room for a toothbrush and a pair of knickers each!
And have I missed something about your excitement and enchantment with centile lines? Is it anything like mine? Kid dropped from 9th to 0.4 - cue wailing and gnashing of teeth. He has now gone back to the 9th - cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth... He is now 14 weeks, 5 weeks corrected. I think I will probably try to wean pretty much dead on 6 months if his appetite continues to grow like this! How old is yours again?

I like the two games. Our strangest gift would be the photo frame that is made up of plastic roses welded together in the shape of a heart. Alas from someone who comes to the house often! And the strangest word - maybe not exactly in the spirit, but I called our cloth nappies indisposables because I couldn't think of the right word!

Re slings, I love my Moby, and so does Kid. He goes to sleep every time!

Tallgiraffe · 23/10/2012 23:33

Put the frame in the Bathroom goat we put some really dodgy frames in there and in amongst shampoo they don't seem quite so awful!

Mergutroid is probably my word - its in a song on a cd I've been singing along to a lot!

BabylonPI · 23/10/2012 23:45

Aaaaaaaaaaand sleeep ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Grin

NIGHT ALL

I'll look for new Fred in the morning!!!Wink

Tallgiraffe · 23/10/2012 23:50

Right, I've just ordered a Ewan - I'm expecting miracles from this fluffy ovine Grin

MrsNPattz · 24/10/2012 00:16

First feed of the night here after 2 hours - knew it was coming after a few good nights, but he did go down earlier tonight at 9:30 so maybe that's why. Hoping for a longer stretch next time...........

clums I'm in Aberdeen.

I feel quite boring because we haven't had any really strange presents, don't really like the Ralph Lauren baby grow we got though! Lots of knitted stuff that I'm not sure he will wear - not really my thing.

funchum8am · 24/10/2012 01:08

First feed of the night here after a 7pm.feed so had a half decent stretch of sleep. My mum is here for a few days and has been amazing so fae, doing the chores when I am feeding and holding babyfunch when she is sleeping or at least not crying for a feed. I have got loads done!

HV also came and was really good! Or at the very least she didn't say anything I disagreed with and had some useful info re local groups, clinics and on moving towards a routine as babyfunch gets a bit older. I was expecting a lot less, based on others' experience, not least here on MN but it seems we have at least one good on here (Harrow).

Weirdest gift: probably the lurid pink, and highly flammable looking snowsuit for babyfunch (ok not that weird, but not something anyone who knows me well would have chosen!)

Weirdest word: probably poonami! Had to explain to mum what it meant :)

Love the game idea! I hope it is helping
mummyvicky. Try reading threads in mumsnet classics, they are often hilarious.

I have a stretchy wrap and I love it. Babyfunch sleeps in it generally - it sends her off beautifully. I rent it from Harrow sling library - if anyone has a local sling group I can highly recommend going as it is cheaper than buying a sling and you can try different ones out, plus be shown how to tie them etc. Much better than going it alone, at least for a klutz like me.

Hope we all manage to get some sleep soon.

MummyVicky18 · 24/10/2012 01:13

Managed 2.5 hrs sleep which is some under my belt at least. Just fingers crossed for him to stay asleep after this feed.

Thanks for all the support Smile it's making it a bit more bearable to be able to come on here. I don't know what I'd do without the Internet on my phone??!! How on earth did our parents get through the night?? Maybe were all just wimps now were never alone lol

As for the weirdest gift??? Don't know everything was ok really apart from a cute large teddy which isn't suitable for a baby according to the label and loses its fluff. I've had to put that one up high so it's not a choking hazard as the fluff gets everywhere.

And I can't remember any of what I have said today lol

TeaandHobnobs · 24/10/2012 01:33

mummyvicky sorry it's another tough night Sad I'm a bit crap at ideas for games, but I hope our chatter is helpful.

Minipop that is seriously awesome about the sleep Grin We've not started weaning yet, he is not quite showing the signs of being ready, but I have a weaning class at the Neonatal unit tomorrow, and I've bought an Annabel Karmel book so I'm preparing. He'll be starting before Christmas that's for sure!

(in case anyone was curious, the recommendation is for prem babies to be weaned between 5 to 8 months actual age, irrespective of their level of prematurity)

Clumsa we borrowed a MeiTai (it was a babyhawk) from our local sling library for a month, and it was awesome. I haven't bought my own yet, so still using my stretchy wrap (although I am starting to feel DS' weight with it) at the moment, but the MeiTai was great - very adjustable, but Mich nicer to have less fabric tied around you (the stretchy wrap makes me so hot and sweaty - not so bad now the weather is cooler, but it is still rather like having a hot water bottle strapped to your front!). You said you are in London? If you can get to it, the South London Sling Library in West Norwood (SE27) is amazing, and you could borrow one to try out before you fork out some dosh.

DS was playing the nap resisting game again today - he managed one decent nap around 11 - 12:30, but after that, he snuck in the odd 10 minute cat nap, but would not go down for a proper nap after that until I put him to bed at 9:30. Mad baby! He just woke screaming about his teeth, but gel and the dummy weren't sufficient and I had to feed him anyway. Fingers crossed he can get another decent chunk of sleep in now too - which I would like as well, so night all Smile

TeaandHobnobs · 24/10/2012 01:34

Ooo 2.5 hours is good! Here's hoping for another one of those Wink

MummyVicky18 · 24/10/2012 01:40

Yeah I've got my fingers crossed Smile I put him down 5 mins ago but he woke straight back up Sad big poonami so changed bum and gave the poor nite some more teething gel.

On a plus side I've managed to paint my nails today Smile fancied doing them to make a change and I've baked loads of cupcakes Smile

Tallgiraffe · 24/10/2012 02:25

mrsn have you been on the RL website? I want to know who buys this: m.ralphlauren.co.uk/?p=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5yYWxwaGxhdXJlbi5jby51ay9wcm9kdWN0L2luZGV4LmpzcD9wcm9kdWN0SWQ9NDI5ODQ5MQ%3D%3D with its whopping price tag and dry clean only status Grin Thinking of babyG and the vomit covered 5 outfits a day!!

Smallgreenone · 24/10/2012 02:29

Amazing sleep minipops well done!
vicky so sorry you are having a tough time but how on earth have you managed to find the energy to bake?! You just be superhuman!
Baby small has just slept from 7 until 2!!! Unfortunately though now he is so awake I can't see us getting back into bed before 4, on the plus side I now know that he can sleep for long stretches!
No weird presents here. We did get millions of soft toy comforter things which are currently hanging out like a little colony at the top of his cot.
We have a sling, it's a Kari me one and its been v useful but we've just got the stokke my carrier which is like a baby bjorn and that is much more comfy for my back.

TeaandHobnobs · 24/10/2012 03:59

waking every 2 hours here with full on crying because of teething pain. Urgh...
