Clumsasaurus · 22/10/2012 23:18

small 7 he's sleep is clearly not enough! My DH gets more like 10 and still says how tired he is the following evening! I dream if 10 hours, in fact 6 would have me dancing in the street!

Smallgreenone · 22/10/2012 23:19

Grin babylon enjoy your new toy, at least it will keep you occupied tonight!!

Smallgreenone · 22/10/2012 23:20

To be honest I'd settle for 5 saurus!

Goatbongosanonymous · 22/10/2012 23:36

Babylon hooray for the we iPad! I wish you many happy hours of play. I love mine, it has been a real sanity saver.

Kid has not slept yet Sad

Goatbongosanonymous · 22/10/2012 23:37

The new iPad, even

BabylonPI · 22/10/2012 23:39

Oooh I'm loving it, but I really need to sleep Hmm Confused

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 22/10/2012 23:45

Evening all, I missed out on updates last night as we finally got a better night although it was due to me cheating and bringing babylump into bed with me I felt much more human today :)

DH took her out in the buggy at half 10 but she woke again once they got home, at least I got half hour sitting down before tonight's floor pacing begins in earnest.

susie good to hear re your DH, here's to a speedy recovery!

It may have been said already but is the clock change this weekend?

Susieloo · 23/10/2012 00:38

Evening allSmile we are on first sleep of the night so hoping for a repeat of last night, seems it is better when he wakes around two rather than the dreaded 3-4 slot.

I know exactly what everyone means about dh's, I'm very lucky that dp does a lot but i do get a lot of comments like 'stop telling me what to do' I have tried to explain that I'm not intentionally being bossy but its important in terms of how my night is going to go that things are done in a certain way or at a certain time. He has stopped saying he's tired though but did happen to drop into a conversation with me 'well you do go bed at the same time as the baby!!!' I explained that I then wake up all the through the night with the baby and I'm not a robot so can't switch myself back to sleep immediately the baby doesAngry

mummyv let us know how you get on with j being moved, I have a feeling I will start to sleep a lot better when babyloo is in his own room, well sharing with dss.

I bought some brandy butter ice cream from the co-op today, by the time I walked it back from the shop it was perfect eating consistency, it was amazingSmile

I'm meant to be taking babyloo to see the hv tomorrow, it's been four weeks since he was weighed but I'm tempted to leave it another couple of weeks, I only need to see them for weighing and I think it's meant to pour down again tomorrow. babylon and tea and anyone I've forgotten with older babies what did/do you do?

Hope sleepy mice have caught up with you all and scattering sleepy dust aroundSmile

funchum8am · 23/10/2012 01:21

Feeding here - she fed about 9 and has slep downstairs with DH til now while I got some sleep in bed. Been a bit of a lifesaver as I was knackered but she is now quite grizzly and I am not sure why :(

My DH is feeling really bad that he can't help with feeding but otherwise getting on well with fatherhood. He has always been the homemaker round here though, it is me that you wouldn't trust with a baby!
DM is arriving today to help out til Friday, hurrah. Extra pair of hands will be very useful!
Happy sleeps everyone...

NervousAt20 · 23/10/2012 01:33

Hi can I join? DD1 is a night owl so we've been having a couple if Kate nights Smile

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 23/10/2012 01:34

Babylump finally asleep, although at the expense of my poor chewed up right nipple (sorry, tmi!). So, dare I risk the transfer?! We're currently sat in the living room, the carrycot is ready by my feet in theory it should be simple to put her in it, wrap her up & take us both upstairs to bed...but we all know from experience that the theory is flawed though don't we?!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 23/10/2012 01:36

Hi nervous welcome :) How old is your DD?

NervousAt20 · 23/10/2012 01:44

My DD is 3 days old Grin were doing really well with feeding just the settling at night time

Smallgreenone · 23/10/2012 01:47

Did you make it up heff?! Second feed here already so that's two hours since the last one, hope he does a bit longer than that for the next stretch. I've got a nasty feeling that he won't though!

funchum8am · 23/10/2012 01:50

Welcome nervous! 3 days, you must be exhausted! I hope the birth went well and you are recovering ok. I think I stayed up all night more or less for the first 3 nights but then things started to get easier as she went longer between feeds. Making myself sound like a veteran here, she is still only 19 days! Very best of luck for tonight :)

NervousAt20 · 23/10/2012 01:54

Thank you funchum the tiredness deffinatly isn't a perk lol I have been very lucky at nights though with DP staying up with her and just waking me when she wants a feed and letting me get lots of rest bless him
19 days! How's the feeding going now for you both?

funchum8am · 23/10/2012 02:06

Feeding is going well - I have been lucky not to have pain or cracked nipples etc so far. Bit of backache at times though. She regained birth weight and a bit more by day 11 and next weigh in tomorrow will show how much more she has gained. She does sometimes get angry while trying to latch on and gets too upset to feed, which is a bit annoying, but otherwise so far so good. How are you finding it?

NervousAt20 · 23/10/2012 02:18

It's great you've not had any painful or cracked nipples, I read and was fold lots of horror stories about that. Do you find it abit painful when your DD first lathes on? Then goes after 30 sec or so? Sorry for the QsBlush
It's going well, she could be a little lazy at first but is now starting to attach quite quickly. We do have to wake her for feeds though quite often then sometimes she'll have a really good feeding for 10-15 min then nod off and completely uninterested in feeding anymore

Goatbongosanonymous · 23/10/2012 02:54

Evening all (or rather morning all!) and welcome nervous, congratulations on your baby!

Sorry to hear some DH's are not as supportive as they might be. Like funch mine is much more a homemaker than I am, and he is also very aware that I always do the night shift so I get to say how evenings run. It helps that kid is often at his cutest and snuggliest in the evenings!

Heff ouch! And small here's to longer stretches between feeds!

TeaandHobnobs · 23/10/2012 03:23

Hi nervous, welcome and congratulations Thanks Smile

That initial pain is probably your letdown reflex, it can be pretty toe curling! But it will fade in time.

susieloo I've generally gone to baby clinic as often as the HV suggested, although I am overdue this last time. BabyTea was weighed at his prem appointment the other week though, so I'm not too worried. My HVs are all pretty fecking useless - I only go to learn what DS weighs, and it is such a faff and waste of time. You don't have to go at all, but just bear in mind you could be in for a bit of a bollocking if they deem there to be an issue with weight gain (which doesn't necessarily mean there would be anything to be concerned about, I think they just like to justify their existence by making a song and dance out of whatever they can Hmm)

DS isn't sleeping amazingly at the moment, but it's not dreadful. I, on the other hand, am waking up a lot and generally getting rubbish sleep Sad I've come down with a cold, which isn't helping - it is so draining looking after a baby when you are not feeling well.

DS is 6 months this week, so I am taking that as a watershed to reluctantly change some things: out of the carrycot and into the pushchair, no more Moses basket... I am Sad but I know it has to happen!

Susieloo · 23/10/2012 03:30

Hi nervousSmile

Thanks tea i will see how awful the weather is and decide then I think, I know I should take him to be weighed because I think he will be off the charts by now!!

Six months is a milestone age I think, well will be for me, I'm half excited about him getting there and half dreading him not being little anymore!

We are on 2nd feed of the night, have I mentioned that I hate this feed at this timeGrin he always seems really hard to settle or wakes up every hour until seven.

funchum8am · 23/10/2012 03:36

nervous I do sometimes get a couple of seconds of pain at start of feeds but that is rare; friends with kids tell me I am very lucky though so don't take me as an example of what is normal! I think I have very leathery nipples or something!!

Don't hesitate to ask questions, everyone on here is lovely and really happy to help (and I have one of the youngest babies so have been doing all the asking myself til now).

I have my first HV visit tomorrow - let's just say that my expectations are set fairly low!

Babyf is feeding again - I think I need to get her to stay awake and take more at 1am as she generally feeds then for 15 mins but only lasts til 3 or 3:30 and I think a bit of a longer kip at this point would do me the world of good. She prefers my left boob which she is on now so fingers crossed will take enough to last til 6ish. This having a favourite side is a bit odd - DH was, when he was allowed near them is happy enough to encounter either of them!

NervousAt20 · 23/10/2012 03:44

We're back up again here, this seems to bf the feed where she takes alot longer to settle afterwards and it's a nightmare time

Thank you for replys about sore sucking Grin

MrsNPattz · 23/10/2012 04:04

First feed of the night here. I woke up before little fella!! With a sore head but paracetamol and a heap of water shifted it and I got a bit more sleep before he woke up. He has gone another two days without a poop again so hoping the poor thing isn't in for a sore tummy.

I have to give my hubby his due - he has been very helpful, he makes me cups of tea, cooks at night and changes nappies. It's just he likes to disappear quite often - usually computer or car stuff. And I think I get annoyed because I want his company more than anything. He got a new car today so won't see him for a week Grin

Welcome nervous congratulations! I was sore like that at first but not now, my little man is 5 weeks Smile

MummyVicky18 · 23/10/2012 04:05

Woohoo so far tonight has gone wonderful despite my initial concerns baby J has slept from 11 til 2.45 then quietly gurgled for 45 mins (was listening to the monitor to see if he would settle himself) so I'm really proud of my little man and his 1st night (so far Grin)

As for hv & weighings I always found it good to go once a month but if you don't have any concerns about his weight and he is eating/ weeing/ pooing regular then there is no reason you have to go.

Hi nervous Smile
I agree with the others the toe curling is a pain but it did subside for me. I kept saying to the hv/midwife "I don't know how long I'll keep this up for" and here I am still bf 4 months later.

Tea - I've just been saying that about not liking change baby J is 18 weeks Sad I've put baby J in his cot (in his own room) tonight for the 1st time. Hv suggested it might help him sleep better as he wouldn't be restricted and so far all is well I'll report back later
