Hello!
Carrying on are good work from the first thread , how do we keep are selfs awake? By chatting to each other sleepy heads!

OP posts:
Clumsasaurus · 19/10/2012 22:35

Babysaurus is still fighting sleep 15 hours awake with about 80 mins sleep all day! I wish he'd surrender to it! DH has conked out leaving me to it grrrr claims he had a tough day...'mine was hardly a walk in the park! At least he cooked supper.

Off to attempt crib transfer number 4... Fingers crossed

Sleepy dust to you all

missingmymarbles · 19/10/2012 23:05

Clumsa don't get me started on DHs feeling hard done by. DH and I are barely speaking tonight because of thatAngry

Smicha hope you're feeling better soon, and baby lets you rest up tonight.

Hope Mini is ok. And Techno too, not seen her in a while.

So far so good with Missmarbles tonight. She seemed to have settled when I was posting earlier but then muttered on for a bit. I left her a few minutes and she went over herself Shock and has been since. Hoping this is a sign of things to come. Really hoping to st least get past midnight, but a return to 6 hour stretches would be lovely. Think Ewan is on strike here too, if not he's off sick and founding a bit dodgy!! I think he needs new batteries but I'm a bit surprised do soon as we haven't used him that heavily, I didn't think.

Still have loads to do in the morning, but hey hoConfused

Hope the Sleepy Mouse bites. Night night. See you all at 3?? Haha!

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 19/10/2012 23:45

Hope you're feeling ok smicha & the anti-b's kick in soon. Mastitis sounds horrible glad you got yourself to the docs quickly.

My user name was another 'quick just put anything' as I wanted to post asking for advice and as I'd been reading Winnie The Pooh at the time it was just the first thing that came to mind. Thinking its time for a change soon though.

Having a bit of a difficult evening tonight babylump has been awake for hours, she has been cat napping but not falling into a deep enough sleep to be out down for any length of time. After a pretty bad night last night I'm feeling drained and there's been a few tears here today :( DH has taken her out in the buggy now in the hope she'll finally fall asleep properly and we can just carry her upstairs to bed

I started watching the stand up to cancer programme too, its so emotional I did end up having to switch over but so amazed with some of the stories of perseverance and what people have managed to overcome.

Grin at Ewan being unionised!

MummyVicky18 · 20/10/2012 00:39

Well I made it to 12.30 so that was a 4 hr stretch which is great for him but we only went to bed at 10 so only has 2.5 sleep if that. I wish he would do his 4 he stint now as its looking like I might have to start going to bed at 8.30 Sad.

My Ewan arrived today, baby J seems to love him during the day and it did calm him down on a few occasions but hasn't helped him sleep Sad will try again tomorrow

Right well see you around 3 ladies Smile

funchum8am · 20/10/2012 01:29

Up again here, surprisingly since her mammoth feed at 8ish. She seems to be a bit funny about taking my right boob at the moment so I may end up pumping that side like you susie. Do you find the other side supplies enough milk on its own for now? Babyfunch isn't yet taking bottles.

My username was also a 'quick, think of something' job. I looked around and saw my huge school bag, which is made from recycled juice cartons of a make called fun chum 8am, so I nicked that.

smicha I hope the mastitis clears up really quickly; it sounds really horrible.

Lots of luck for sleep everyone - are you in a bit most likely :)

Tallgiraffe · 20/10/2012 01:44

Hi everyone, can I join the nighttime club? I have a 3 week old LO so I will be here a lot!

Goatbongosanonymous · 20/10/2012 01:55

Ooh, I just had four hours sleep!!

Sorry to everyone having shattered nights Sad or unuseful (is that a word?!) DPs... DH took Kid after the last feed and has just brought him up to me after giving him a bottle. I can sleep with Kid in the bed but he can't ( too scared of rolling over and squashing the poor thing). This is the first long stretch of sleep I have had since Kid came home from NNU 10 weeks ago.

I am also excited because Kid is now 7 1/2 lb. half a pound to the magic 8 number, which seems to be the minimum weight for lots of things, like using a baby carrier, bouncy chair etc. some semblance of normality may hit the goat household? Or is that too much to ask?...

I think here Ewan's contract is for daylight hours only.

funchum8am · 20/10/2012 01:58

Glad you have had some sleep goat. We are also waiting for the magic 8lb point so DH can use a carrier (he refuses to try my wrap sling!)

Welcome giraffe, my DD (babyfunch) is two weeks two days so just behind yours.

Tallgiraffe · 20/10/2012 02:03

Goat - hurrah for a stretch of sleep! Isn't it amazing how your view changes, I now live for my morning 3 hours when amazing DH entertains the mini Giraffe. I wouldn't have thought that was a decent sleep before!!

7 1/2 lb is great, well done to you (and to kid of course). Mini giraffe loves his bouncy seat - have you got one ready?

Goatbongosanonymous · 20/10/2012 02:12

Welcome giraffe we could start a zoo! Grin

Tallgiraffe · 20/10/2012 02:23

Thanks for the welcome, definitely a menagerie to be started Grin

Congratulations on the LO Funch! What carrier do you have? We've got an ergo and love it. Comfy for us and instant sleep for DS, so we all win.

MrsNPattz · 20/10/2012 02:35

We just had 4 hours and I slept for about 3.5 of them. Sounds like there is a mixed bag tonight so sorry to everyone having a hard time.

heffalumps really hope you got mini lump to sleep!

And welcome giraffe, this thread is a sanity saver Grin

Hubby just came in pretty drunk so think we will have a not very helpful daddy tomorrow!

Smallgreenone · 20/10/2012 02:36

Welcome giraffe
Well after all my doom and gloom earlier baby small went from whenever i put him down which i think was 8.30 ish until 2 which is such a long sleep. I however was waiting for him to wake up so didn't go to bed until 11.30 so have missed out on some potential hours there. Grrrr.
I shall have a little look at Ewan's contract in time for the next feed, it may need amending as we can't afford strike action here as the damage is too great!
Spreading sleepy dust to all xx

MummyVicky18 · 20/10/2012 02:51

And on cue he is up again.

Welcome giraffe Smile

Not feeling too bad considering I've had a rubbish day. DH is off for a 3 day weekend so we might be able to catch up on some sleep Grin which I am quite excited by.

I must say hats off to anyone that does this alone. I've no idea how I would cope.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 20/10/2012 02:53

Welcome giraffe, my LO is 3 weeks tomorrow :)

goat Grin at your 4 hours, that's fab!

I'm feeling a bit at my wits end here, I knew I'd end up paying for those good nights earlier in the week :( we are still up, DH came back from his walk with babylump still crying, I spent another couple of hours alternating between feeding, nappy changing and pacing the floor but nothing's calmed her down and she's only fallen into short light sleeps that she wakes from as soon as she's put down. I got desperate at half 1 and took her for an hour long drive, we got back ten minutes ago I tried to move her from car seat to carry cot and she was awake in seconds :( Have just fed again, been puked on and now she's dozing on my lap but eyes still half open & I have no chance of putting her down. Feeling really low tonight I don't know what's wrong with her and I'm exhausted.

Whinge over. Hope you're all getting better luck tonight! :)

BabylonPI · 20/10/2012 03:18

Well we got a 5 hour stretch and another dream feed and baby B now back in crib fast asleep! Hopefully won't be back before 7 Wink

Oh, and hi giraffe congratulations on your LO Grin and welcome to the sanity saver Wink

Susieloo · 20/10/2012 03:19

Welcome giraffe and lol at goats zoo!!

heff I know this sounds daft but is she just constantly hungry? Babyloo was like that a few times and it was when he was going through a growth spurt, I just presumed that because I had just fed him he couldn't be hungry and it turned out he did just want to feed all night. Infacol also helped in the early days, it's not a miracle worker but it does help.

fun my right boob seems to produce enough milk but I do worry I'm going to be lop sided!! I am still going to keep offering the left boob because he will take it sometimes.

I'm on second feed of the night but babyloo has been grumbling since about half one but hasn't woken up enough to really cry and I've been too tired so kept falling back to sleep when he did, really want to eliminate the 1.30 am feed after a feed between 11 and 12, not sure if he will settle now.

marbles the batteries that ewan comes with are for demonstration purposes so need changing pretty much straight away.

Before I was pregnant I did not have a sweet tooth which was a good thing because I am completely in love with food, since being pregnant, when it was amazing to really crave cake and chocolate which I never had before, my sweet tooth is alarmingly sticking around, I am just about to put babyloo down and go to the fridge to demolish the rest of my cadburys dairy milk and Oreo cookie bar, it is the nicest chocolate!!

I would love to think we will go through until 7 but I think half dive us more like it!!

Hope your all catching up on some zzzzzzz

funchum8am · 20/10/2012 03:21

I am still up as well, babyfunch seems set to feed all night, alternating with falling asleep on the boob but waking as soon as I take her off. She has just had the most violent hiccups but feeding seemed to get rid of them, strangely. She has now fallen asleep on me and I am going to try operation transfer to Moses basket (still need to get sorted out and buy the troll bedside cot!)

Hopefully Ewan will triumph once I get her into her basket.

She did sleep most of the day, including being shown off at my work, so I shouldn't complain.

giraffe we have a baby Bjorn which DH will try out when she gets big enough; I have hired a stretchy jeportemonbebe wrap which has been amazing so far, and we have borrowed a friend's baba sling, but I am struggling to make sense of that even with help from their website, so not using it at the moment.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 20/10/2012 03:30

Can i join please?

Boy3 is 5wks old and just dropped back off now.

I wake myself up about half an hour after ive put him back in his basket wondering where he is and why hes not in my arms.

Then i hear his grunting Grin

I MN or FB but am very cross eyed when doing so!!

Hooefully we'll all get a few hours..........

Susieloo · 20/10/2012 04:15

Welcome notSmile

Why is it so hard to settle babies at this time of the morning!!!! Babyloo managed to wake himself up so is asleep on me but attempting transfer now, really hope he goes through until after 7.

missingmymarbles · 20/10/2012 04:16

Second feed done. Went from about 8.15-12.40, so just over 4 hours then to 3.50 another 3, but still chuntering a little. Much improvement and dare I say it back to normal?? Will this be us til morning? Ewan seems back on form, having settled her quickly for the first feed and weaving his magic now; she's not quite gone yet, but getting quieter.

Smicha · 20/10/2012 04:28

Welcome giraffe and not to the sanity saving thread!

We've now been awake since 1.30 as ds doesn't seem to want to give me up to the breast pump! To make things worse dh has gone back to the spare room in a strop because ds screams the house down whenever he changes his nappy! Does anyone else have that problem? I get calm gurgles when I change him and dh gets screams! So I'm back on nappies for the sake of all 3 of us!

I don't see us getting much more sleep now, which is only going to make me feel even worse tomorrow! I wouldn't wish mastitis on my worst enemy! And it's my birthday on Monday and we were supposed to do lots of nice things this weekend as a family, instead it looks like I'll be bed-bound for most of it Sad

Wow, I'm grumpy tonight!

Tallgiraffe · 20/10/2012 04:32

Heff - that sounds horrendous. Hope you get some sleep at some point!

Funch - we got given a babasling too and I'm yet to get to grips with it, he just doesn't feel secure in it at all. I'm sticking with the ergo I think.

We're heading for our worst night so far, which is just great as MIL is here for the weekend so you guarantee tomorrow will be full of "why don't you do x" comments, which given how little sleep I'll have had may be a test of my patience! If I'm not back tonight it's because I've been arrested for crimes against MILs...

missingmymarbles · 20/10/2012 04:54

Well I had to get up to her again to change the napoy! Have not had to do an overnight change except once since hospital Shock Anyeay settled now so hopefully will transfer easily as has taken another moderate feed after the change as well. Could perhaps hope for 8.

Hi Giraffe

I'm in the grumpy club tonight too Smicha Sad Not least because of how much there is still to do for going away, and DH was a bit useless last night.

MummyVicky18 · 20/10/2012 05:02

Not grown up - I used to do that all the time at first I used to wake up searching in the covers as I was sure ( in my half sleepy state) that I had him in my arms. Until 2 months back we never had him in the bed either. It has now subsided

Smicha - ds used to do that with my hubby and it got him down it still happens to an extent but I suppose that is one of the pitfall of returning to work. Ds will settle in DH arms now etc we made a routine where DH changed ds nappy before he went to work & when he came home DH has some play time & baths him so they get some time together before bed Smile
