Yey goat sounds like you're on a roll today! Hopefully, it'll continue tonight for you.

smicha I know what you mean. My Ewan's been dispatched and I, too, eagerly await it's arrival. I hope it lives upto it's hype. I'm expecting great things :)

Baby Twizzle is very overtired and cried through her bath (normally she enjoys it) hasn't fed properly and is over my shoulder as I type, hopefully sleeping but I know it won't be for long if she does settle due to very short feed. Lots of crying and slow blinking. I hope she settles soon!

Does anyone else go to bed when baby does? Am I odd in that if she's asleep at 8:45 then I'm getting ready for bed and following shortly afterwards? My DH is fed up with it tbh but that's her long sleep slot and I NEED those 3 hrs.

twizzlestix · 15/10/2012 20:38

Oh mummyvicky I just saw your post :( I'm sorry. His poor family.

MummyVicky18 · 15/10/2012 20:45

I'm still in shock that its real & have been a bit numb all day. Sad

It's not even like he was a rough type, he's a respected business owner & family man Sad

Smallgreenone · 15/10/2012 20:58

mummyvicky I am so sorry, what a shock and so sad for his family.
I have had a shocking day but it doesn't even compare to that so I will count my blessings and be happy.
twizzle I'm getting ready for bed too! Xxx

missingmymarbles · 15/10/2012 21:23

Oh Vicky Sad How awful. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

missingmymarbles · 15/10/2012 21:35

I put my jarmies on when I get the kids ready for bed Grin But I generally have a quick tidy round and flop in front of the tv for an hour before I go to bed, even if its only to feel like a grown up doing normal things for a bit. DH works quite late most evenings, so we are up a bit late some evenings.

MummyVicky18 · 15/10/2012 21:41

Thanks guys - DH has had to take ds out in the car to try & get him to sleep as I just can't do it. I don't know if he is picking up on my mood or what but I'm struggling to cope tonight

twizzlestix · 15/10/2012 21:48

And we're up :( so much for the long sleep :( but it bought this might happen due to the screaming instead of feeding before bed! Let's just hope it's not setting the tone for the rest of the night!

I hope you get a longer sleep small

BabylonPI · 15/10/2012 22:10

MummyVicky that's so awful Sad

If I remember rightly you're north Derbyshire aren't you? I haven't seen/heard any news today but I'm shocked. Poor family and children Sad

BabylonPI · 15/10/2012 22:16

Well Ewan has been treated to new batteries. DS still has a spiking temperature but I think he is also constipated which isn't helping him. It'll be a week tomorrow since his last poonami so I'm expecting some kind of poosplosion at some point tonight/tomorrow - then I think he'll settle properly.

He's fed and is asleep now and I've just taken the rare opportunity to get a cuddle with DH and say thank you for sorting out the DDs this morning - it really was unexpected and very appreciated. Smile

I'm off now and hopefully won't be back before 2 or 3 GrinGrin

Sleepy dust being scattered aplenty Grin

MummyVicky18 · 15/10/2012 22:49

Well baby j is finally asleep so off I go to bed. Hopefully I'll get a few hours xx

Susieloo · 15/10/2012 22:53

First feed of the night after a whopping two whole hours!! He's gone back to sleeping like a newborn, hope this doesn't set the tone got the rest of the night and we will be up again at twelve and then hourly, he is having a big feed now so hopefully he will do at least three now.

Re ewan- does he stay on all night? Which sound is most effective?

Hope the sleepy mice have caught up with you allSmile

Clumsasaurus · 15/10/2012 22:56

vicky what a hero ile thing... Thinking of you and his family xx

Babysaurus let me to believe he asleep 30 mins ago only to go and blooming wake up! Grrrr he never sleeps before 10. Just fed himself to sleep again for all ove 10 seconds now chomping his hand! Loudly! He's had all of 2 hrs sleep since 9am - how is he not tired?!

Let me know how the Ewan's do on their first night duty. May have to invest in one if they perform their magic!

We have 8 week jabs tomorrow so expecting a bad night... Hoping for a good one tonight in preparation...

funchum8am · 15/10/2012 23:20

Oh Vicky I am so sorry about your boss. I hope DH can get your LO to settle for you to have some quiet time.

Babyfunch has been signed off by midwifery service now; she has regained her birth weight plus a bit more so her long sleep-massive feeds pattern is clearly not doing her any harm.

I have a delivery card from the post office so could be that Ewan has arrived but I too have a bit of a PayPal and online shopping habit so could be another delivery, I am awaiting a few!

Went to a sling meet today with my.hired stretchy wrap - babyfunch looked so cute in it and it was so comfy I hope to use it lots as we live in a flat with no ground level space for the buggy, so buggy lives in the car round on a side street and it's a pain to fetch for just nipping to the shops. So now I have another thing to start buying too many of - slings in different colours and nice fabrics!

I also need new black boots...going for a low heel. I am sure wedges would be ok if you are used to heels.

smicha I too have learned to feed lying down and just realised that I can't type while doing it....is it worth the extra rest to miss out on this thread??! (Says something about my priorities...!)

MrsNPattz · 15/10/2012 23:21

vicky so sorry to hear your news, how awful. Stay strong.

I think my little man has a sore tummy too babylon. He won't settle tonight and hasn't had a poo today! But wow, a whole week without a poop - poor little mite! Does that happen often?

Does anyone else's little ones ever get frustrated with boob? My little man has been getting angry with it tonight lol

All in all I'm not expecting much from tonight, maybe Ewan will help.

Had an awful headache on and off again - hubby asked if I was managing ok in the day because I looked liked s*it when he got in - just a sore head dear but thanks for worrying! It does stop me in my tracks though, and hubby thinks I should go to the drs. Of course that started me thinking of all the horrible things it could be. Will see how it is over the next couple of days.

Nothing else to report. Hope all the new Ewan's work their magic tonight Smile

Smallgreenone · 15/10/2012 23:27

Well I'm back. I don't expect him to sleep well tonight as he ja slept pretty much all day but at least I have had those first two hours. If only you didn't need sleep!
Update on the shoes...... I've decided to go for the wedges I'm going to order them tomorrow or maybe at 3am which is my favourite shopping hour! Grin I can always send them back. Am on iPhone so can't link but they're ankle boots, wedge heel, sensible rubber sole sp I don't slip on wet when pushing pram, sheepskin inner which sort of folds down over the top- they look nice and cosy for the cold winter. It gets so cold up here in the hills.
clumsasauras could he be overtired? I've read somewhere that when they're overtired they don't sleep so well even though you'd think they'd drop off and sleep for hours it actually makes them worse.

Clumsasaurus · 15/10/2012 23:37

H mm overtired is v likely. I have been suspicious for a whole he may be but how the hell do I get him to sleep?!

Smallgreenone · 15/10/2012 23:51

Well the helpful thing I read unfortunately didn't say! Not sure why these babies can't come with an off button and an instruction manual. Think baht small is asleep so will tray the transfer to basket now......

funchum8am · 16/10/2012 00:47

Back awake and feeding here

Babyfunch often gets angry if she unlatches from the boob and tries to relatch, particularly near the end of a feed. She opens her mouth really wide and waffles her head and starts yelling as I try to get her to take it on her mouth. Sometimes this only lasts a few seconds and she realises she just has to latch on but other times, especially when the boob is not that full as it is part way through a feed, it goes on and I end up offering the other side instead or taking her outside to calm down (traffic noise seems to soothe her!)

Very wearing when she does it on both sides!

Does anyone have advice on expressing? I am going to start trying to get to grips with my medela swing pump tomorrow, though will leave trying her on a bottle til bfing is properly established.

HorridHeffalumpsWickedWoozles · 16/10/2012 00:57

Evening everyone, checking in for the night shift with a very awake baby.

vicky that's awful news what a terrible thing to happen. Thoughts are with you & his poor family Thanks

We've not made it to bed yet, baby lump slept in her swingy seat 7 til 11 and stupidly I didn't go to bed myself so its my own fault now I'm so tired!

First day was ok today, we went for lunch with DM then a friend popped over for coffee. There was even 5 minutes where both DDs were asleep and I thought ooh result I'll have a cuppa & sit down, but no sooner had the kettle boiled than babylump woke up, but they've both been so good & well behaved it wasn't too bad.

Hope lots of sleepy mice are visiting you all tonight :)

Susieloo · 16/10/2012 01:13

2nd feed of the night so looks like we are back on two hours again.

mrs babyloo used to get terrible boob rage particularly during mammoth cluster feeding sessions.

TeaandHobnobs · 16/10/2012 01:22

Urgh, I swear DS' first wake up is getting earlier and earlier

clumsasaurus you might find that LO actually sleeps better the night following the jabs, but it can be the subsequent nights which can get unsettled - DS didn't seem to be affected, but this has been the case for several friends' babies.

Poor BabyBabylon, hope he is feeling better soon!

TeaandHobnobs · 16/10/2012 01:32

funchum morning is a good time to try expressing, maybe after LO's first feed. Evening is generally harder as often cluster feeding means there's not a lot of surplus at that time of day.

Don't stress if you can't get much/any out! Some women just can't seem to express but have perfectly good supply for breastfeeding (a pump will never be as efficient as a baby at removing milk). Also if you pump at the same time each day, this is a bit like demanding an extra feed and so your supply should the increase to provide this at that particular time.

Have a look at the guidelines for storing expressed milk on kellymom

MummyVicky18 · 16/10/2012 01:36

Hi guys well its been just over 2 hours. I so wish he would go longer.

DH came home telling me about a work colleagues baby who is at least 2 months younger than baby J and only gets up once during the night

Envy just makes me think We're doing something wrong for him to only be going 2 hrs at 4 months old Sad

funchum8am · 16/10/2012 02:14

Feed 2 here and I feel your 2 hour pain, vicky. A nice 4 hour stretch would be lovely.

Thanks for the advice and link, tea, I will definitely take all that on board.

I am craving an iced mince pie! I didn't buy them the other day in a moment of weight guilt and now really wish I had bought them!
