Hello!
Carrying on are good work from the first thread , how do we keep are selfs awake? By chatting to each other sleepy heads!

OP posts:
MrsNPattz · 10/10/2012 21:17

It was babylon who suggested Ewan - definitely deserves commission Grin

I thought I was just about to get some sleep but little rascal woke up for another feed, I am better prepared with snacks tonight though - chocolate and an iced mince pie (yes I know it's only October Blush lol)

'See' you all soon!

MiniPopsMum2012 · 10/10/2012 21:22

(Catching up on posts, so sorry replies are to posts a few pages back Blush)
Thanks Marbles cold is getting slowly better, MiniPop is still a snot monster though, and we have to go on a booger-hunt every morning. I am amazed how long some of them are.. Grin

Goat MiniPop was 10 weeks early, he's 9 weeks corrected this week. I've not really paid much attention to milestones as I think they all go out the window when they're so prem. For example he was smiling at about 5 weeks, but he's only just started to learn how to get his hands in his mouth.

I don't really know what he's meant to be doing and when, but he seems to be in line with his corrected age. I stopped worrying about time between feeds and waking him up as soon as the health visitor said there was absolutely nothign wrong with his weight (he's over 6kg/13lbs) now.

But as he has such bad refulx and tummy issues, he doesn't sleep for ages so we're doing a 3.5 hour routine, last night time feed is 10:30pm, then around 4am and his morning feed is at 8:30am (if he's hungry earlier then he gets fed, but he's actually quite on time)

Heffalump I always have snacks too, Eat Natural bars are current fave along with any chocolate we have :)

MiniPopsMum2012 · 10/10/2012 21:23

I think someone said this on the last thread, but it;s quite funny that there are a few premmie mums on this thread... :) Although still no sign of Sarita?

MrsNPattz · 10/10/2012 21:27

There is a Ewan the sheep game!! Just bought it in the App Store in the hope it might send me to sleep Wink

TeaandHobnobs · 10/10/2012 21:55

I just PMed Sarita - her LO was already 6 months + so maybe she doesn't have as much reason to be on MN in the night anymore? I hope that's why anyway Smile

DS and I had a lovely day with my mum today, we took a trip to the V&A. DS absolutely adores his Nana, it is utterly wonderful to watch. He has been so much more vocal with her today then he has ever been. I swear his first word will end up being to her!

Unfortunately the dreaded teething complaints returned this evening and we had another meltdown (although we seem to be stable-ish on one or two per week, which is an improvement!) and calpol was given. He's usually very good at nodding off if he's put down when he is looking sleepy, but he was fighting it quite a bit this evening. Consequently when I put him upstairs in his crib, I was so fixated on trying to get him to sleep that I forgot I needed to change him to his night nappy So for the second night running he is going to be woken up when I head to bed for a change and a feed. He only lasted 3 hours last night after I did that, so fingers crossed it is not cause and effect!

Now, where is my husband? He had a work event this evening, but said he was tired and would be heading home as early as he could. But it's 10pm already...

My poor Ewan is lifeless, I feel left out now! I'll have to find some new batteries.

BabylonPI · 10/10/2012 22:14

Ewan is doing his "thing" in Babylon Towers as I type Grin

I haven't been terribly active on here the last couple of weeks - sadly not because DS is sleeping through! Actually because my eyes hurt so much trying to keep them open to read is a nightmare Sad

Must try harder - and yes, I think I may approach Ewans manufacturers about claiming some commission!!!! Grin

BabylonPI · 10/10/2012 22:20

Susie I just read about the cat/gas Grin

You poor thing BlushBlush Grin

Susieloo · 10/10/2012 22:31

Hello everyoneSmile I am really struggling to keep my eyes open, babyloo been asleep since half seven so I was hoping for first feed to be 11 at the earliest. He has had his injections today so that may be why he is up, not quite as bad a reaction as last time but still the horrible crying uncontrollably for a while. He's gone back to sleep so must follow suit, will be back around half one I think, hopefully he will last that long.
Glad you pm'd Sarita tea Smile

missingmymarbles · 10/10/2012 22:33

I went to town to get a sheep today so I didn't have to wait for delivery but couldn't get one so online it isSmile

HahaGrin at booger-hunting and their length once hunted, Mini. It never ceases to amaze me the length of them!!

That's why I am do crap at replying to individual posts, Babylon, I can barely keep my eyes open.

Missmarbles went down at 8.30 tonight (like before) and is still quiet so hopefully, we will get back to what we were doing before she decided 2 hourly overnight feeding was the way ahead on Monday. She really is getting too big for the crib but I need to tidy her bedroom before I can put her in the cot. I had hoped that I wouldn't have to be up so many times before she went in her own room, but I have her sheet in my bed tonight to make the cot up tomorrow, and she will be in it by the end of the week Sad

G'night all; will 'see' you later. My hopeful prediction is 2, but likely be earlier.

Smallgreenone · 11/10/2012 00:25

Yes mini I too am amazed at the size of things that come out of little mans nose!
I am now a proud ewan owner and he is on as we speak. I am hiding in the nursery and leaving ewan and DS alone in our room for a while whilst ewan works his magic- I can't hear anything so maybe it is working. I'm a bit scared to go back in really in case I am greeted by a wide awake baby instead of a sleeping one!

Susieloo · 11/10/2012 00:42

We are back to waking every two hours by the looks of it!! Really font know how I'm going to stay awake tonight if this I'd going to be all night, or he gets to half four and wants to get up!!

Have a good night y'all!! Smile

funchum8am · 11/10/2012 00:43

Good luck with the ewan effect, smallgreen. Mine should arrive on Monday and I'm intrigued now!

Babyfunch had a good sleep after 8.30 feed and has lasted til now so my early night did get me a couple of hours' sleep. Hoping she will last til 4ish after this one.

Tomorrow I am heading out alone with her for the first time, to an NCT coffee morning. It involved driving so I get to try her in the carseat in my little Fiat and negotiate parking somewhere I have never been before. Am actually a teensy bit nervous which is unlike me!
Good luck tea with the teething - o am frankly terrified by the idea of that stage....

mrsnpattz Yay for mince pies, and even more so to iced ones! I love them, must get stocked up!

Happy feeding and sleeping everyone...

Smicha · 11/10/2012 00:45

Hi all...I'm so sick of feeding! Mini smich fed pretty much every hour yesterday, including two feeds while the health visitor was with us. I really hope it's just a growth spurt that passes as my nipples are very sore Confused

MrsNPattz mine is just over 2 weeks so they must be on similar night wake ups...although based on yesterday's feeding pattern I'm not expecting much sleep tonight. And I forgot to bring snacks to bed. Grrr.

Whinge over!

Evilwater · 11/10/2012 00:55

Back again,
My son was two weeks early, and he has been weighed today and put on 66 grams but still yellow. I managed to use my hand pump and collected 40ml!

Now for the bad, my poor nipples are very sore. They have been chewed, and bitten, flattened, squished and any thing else. So I've decided to pump into a bottle. I know this does not make me a bad mum, but why do I feel so bad?

Evil

Goatbongosanonymous · 11/10/2012 01:23

Hi all, lots of posts tonight! Hope this is a flurry of LO activity at the beginning of the night, and from here on in there will be tumbleweed blowing across the thread as everyone slumbers gently and happily... Smile
Thanks to the prem mums... I will stop worrying some time I guess (when Kid is about 40?)! Minipop, Kid is the other way round - hasn't quite smiled yet, but can stuff both hands in his mouth, usually along with teat or nipple!
Went to the dr today about our feeding difficulties, just to rule out stuff as you do, and be was a right useless !!$! Made me feel really crappy for asking. But surely taking an hour to drink 10 ml isn't normal?... HV is great on some things but not really on feeding. evil* there is so much pressure out there about it all isn't there, but please don't feel bad, I think we all do so well!
Sorry not to reply to all posts - although iced mince pies are a cultural item that have passed meby despite 18 years in this country! I might like mince pies like that. Experimentation needed...

BabylonPI · 11/10/2012 01:36

Sad first feed at 00.26 Sad

Sadbecause my stupid eyes thought it said 06.26 and I got excited at the thought that I'd had almost 8 hours sleep.

The reality is I've had 1hr8mins and I'm now wide awake. DS won't settle back in crib so he's between me and DH (meaning I won't settle)

another long night Sad

BabylonPI · 11/10/2012 01:39

Evilwater you need Lansinoh cream for your nipples - it's amazing stuff Grin

MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 01:40

First feed here - went from 10 til now with a bit of noise making at 12 but managed to both go back to sleep!

I have a breast feeding support group today, will be my second time going so still a bit shy Blush I am really struggling with motivating myself to actually leave the house at the moment, could quite easily curl up with little man all day every day but force myself to go out!

Are many of you NCT members? Would you recommend? I am fancying going on an NCT postnatal course in January, but wasn't sure about becoming a member. Thanks.

Mince pie still in tact at the moment, however Cadbury Dairy Milk Golden Biscuit Crunch open Grin

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 11/10/2012 02:02

Evening all,

evil the fact that you are managing to express for your LO is great, and certainly you are not a bad mum. Well done for keeping going when you're feeling so sore. Expressing is bloody hard work you should be proud of yourself not feeling bad.

We've just come to bed, baby lump has been really sicky tonight we've had three huge stomach emptying pukes, so three changes of clothes and three goes at getting her back off to sleep after without help of boob. DH was lovely and stayed up with us to keep me company, I think loneliness is the worst thing about the nights, after tiredness of course so it was nice to sit up together for a bit. Anyway finally got her asleep all wrapped up in my arms and thought we'd be safe to come to bed. Of course within 10 minutes of being in her crib she is awake :( Hurry up Ewan, I'm expecting great things!

I really really want an iced mince pie now, having scoffed all the good snacks yesterday I've only got dates to munch on tonight. Not the same at all!

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 11/10/2012 02:08

mrsnpattz I'm a member and its been fantastic, we did the pre natal course hoping to make a couple of new friends and it was really worth it. We all meet up once a week for coffee etc and often in between some of us get together for more chat, I'm so pleased I joined. We've been to a couple of nct run events too and the nearly new sales are usually fab. I'd say do the post natal course and chances are you'll meet some lovely people and hopefully make some friends too.

MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 03:03

heffalumps thanks for the feedback re NCT, I think I may join! Your snacks are much healthier than mine Blush

Well we have been awake nearly 2 hours and little man is still wide awake, this is all new to me as he usually falls asleep on boob!! Currently trying Ewan, but after that I'm stuck - help Sad

funchum8am · 11/10/2012 03:54

mrsnpattz we did an NCT antenatal course as well as friends highly recommended it. We met 7 other lovely couples and it means we can access lots of help eg bf helplines etc (think you can call them if not a member too but not sure).

goat it is so wrong that your GP made you feel bad - he is the one not doing his job properly. Definitely try and fond out about local BF support groups, or contact the midwives even if you have been discharged - you should not have to struggle on alone.

heffalumps that level of vom sounds like quite an impressive feat by your LO! Poor thing buty sympathies, that must be very frustrating!

Feed no 2 here and so far, so good. Will spend rest of feed googling supermarkets to find out good mince pie ranges...

MiniPopsMum2012 · 11/10/2012 04:15

Ooooh iced mince pies - yum! [GRIN]

well, drum roll, Minipop had just slept from 11pm until 3:30am :-D uninterrupted. Whooooooop!

probably a complete fluke but I'll take it, as I have just had four hours sleep. Grin

evil You're doing a fantastic job, please don't feel bad about expressing.

Oh babylon! [shocked] gutted for you re time. That's poo :(

Smallgreenone · 11/10/2012 04:33

We did Nct too mrsnpatz met some lovely people. I think you could opt to pay for the classes and not become a member.
Ewan worked! He slept until now, I was a bit worried height wake up when he stopped but he didn't- phew! Wonder how long I'll get out of him this time, hopefully until 7........
evil don't feel bad, it's hard work expressing and putting it in a bottle you're doing brilliantly. I did that too at the beginning as DS was dehydrated and they kept us in hospital longer and I had to express first and then also give him a formula top up. Once my milk came in properly and I was sure he was getting enough i stopped doing it as expressing is such hard work. My nipples were sore and cracked too but they got better quickly and we're back to normal bfing now.

missingmymarbles · 11/10/2012 04:50

Woop woop! Down at 8.30 first feed 1, second at 4. Good feed taken but rather stupidly, I started reading emails so I am only just settling now Blush She was flat out on shoulder and has started twisting a bit now back in crib Confused
