Hello!
Carrying on are good work from the first thread , how do we keep are selfs awake? By chatting to each other sleepy heads!

OP posts:
Smallgreenone · 11/10/2012 04:54

Why do they take so long to feed sometimes......still hate after 45 mins. I've downloaded the ewan game, not sure who post about that. I keep falling in the sheep dip though and starting to feel sorry for poor little animated ewan!

Goatbongosanonymous · 11/10/2012 04:55

A third here who would recommend nct. Just finishing the postnatal course and it was really useful as well as filled with great people.

Heffalump sorry to hear about the puking, pretty exhausting for you.

mrsn I hope you are asleep now!

minipopsmum fabr about the four hours! Hope Minipop passes on the secret via the starlight barking.

Evilwater · 11/10/2012 05:03

Back again, that was so much easier. Evil baby fed and settled in a hour, and so much less screaming. YAy!

Thanks for all your posts, it means alot. You are all awesome.
I have been putting on laninstosh cream as well as cabbage leaves.
Evil.

missingmymarbles · 11/10/2012 05:28

Aargh! Been attacked by the snot monsterAngry
Also, why is it, that she appears to be in a deep sleep just until I get comfy and back under the duvet, then twists/snorts/giggles(!)/etc?
Now have her in bed with me which means no more sleep as DD1 had nightmare and in here too. Very peed off with DH as he vacated to DD1's bedAngry

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 11/10/2012 06:02

minipop there must be something in the airtonight, don't know how it happened but we're up feeding now after sleeping since 2am, a four hour stretch! I feel so much better after a decent chunk of sleep, I cheated a bit though as although I'd put her down in the crib I lay horizontally in our bed so I could still have my head/shoulders next to her, and her head was on my arm (which is now a bit dead!) but still, sleep is sleep and I'm not going to complain :)

goat your GP shouldn't have made you feel like that its only natural to worry and much better to check things out even if they do come to nothing. Have you got any good bf support groups nearby, they might be a but more helpful and welcoming.

Hope everyone else is getting visited by the sleepy mice with their sleepy dust.

funchum8am · 11/10/2012 06:46

Success here too - tonight's feeds went 8.30 , 12.30,3.30,6.30 and I slept really soundly in between, so feeling good this morning for once. And dh has not done his 4am decamo with her so we have had our first full night where we all slept where we are meant to. Maybe she was doing this to mark her first full week in the world :)

Clearly the starlight barking worked in our favour for once as it sounds like a few of us have had sleepy babies tonight.

Glad you are feeling better evilwater - you are doing the right thing for your baby and hopefully with the right support you will be able to het back to bf'ing soon. And even if not, expressing still provides babyevil with the same nutrition. Chin up!

Today's job: to build iced mince pie (IMP) stash without losing too many to DH!

MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 07:15

goat can you take your baby to the course with you?

I seem to have started a mince pie epidemic Grin I think I must be the only person who isn't losing weight while breast feeding lol

We just got 3 hours, he pretty much went to sleep straight after I posted! But not because of Ewan tonight I might add Sad

Sounds like you guys have had some really good sleep tonight - Yey Smile

Smicha · 11/10/2012 08:08

I'm jealous of you all with good sleeps! We had a 2 hour session from around 3.30 filled with poo, sick, wind and hiccups! Then he woke again just after 6...managed to get him to sleep in our bed til just after 7.30 but it feels like it has been a long night. We have our final midwife appointment this morning so I'm just hoping he will calm down enough to let me have a shower! Then I may go and buy some mince pies as a treat!

MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 09:32

Smicha it definitely sounds like we have similar babies lol I don't think I'm going to manage a shower before our health visitor comes - and I really need one Confused

Susieloo · 11/10/2012 11:13

Good morning everyone, too tired too post much last night, why am I only just learning about iced mince pies??? We were at my parents last night and staying here till tea time so I've just added iced mince pies to their shopping list!!

evil definitely get some lanisoh, it really helped me in the early days, you are doing amazingly well expressing, no need to feel bad at all.

I used to get really, really fed up of feeding too smicha, I had quite a few rants in the early days of the 'I can't feed the baby anymore I'm going out of my mind!!!' kind. Thankfully the cluster feeding mania has eased off in the last month.

Good luck with your outing today fun I am full of admiration because babyloo is 3 months old and I still haven't taken him out on my own in the car.

Agree with everyone else that your gp sounds like a donut goat. I second trying a bf group or call one of the la leche counsellors, I rang them a few times in the early days and they were great.

I had a similar experience with tired eyes babylon when I looked at our kitchen clock the other day and realized that the reason I was starving was because it was half one so made myself a very indulgent bowl of seafood spaghetti and sat down to eat it with the news and put the tv on only to realize our clock had stopped and it was half eleven!!! I'd only had breakfast at nine!! Hope you got some decent sleep in the end.

I agree that you have started a mince pie epidemic mrs, I may have to start eating them all the way up to Xmas, re weight loss and bf I didn't really start to lose any weight until very recently and I eat loads, I'm a very naturally greedy and hungry person and bf makes me constantly starving and I get the most overwhelming thirst as soon as he latches on but the weight is starting to come off.

I think it's quite lonely in the middle of the night too heff, that's what I love about this thread because you know there is someone else somewhere awake!!

I've just downloaded the ewan game too small! Anything else that can help keep my eyes open in the middle of the night has to be a good thing!

marbles good first sleep, can you ask baby marbles to tell babyloo that we are switching back from two hourly feeds to longer stretches, sorry she is snotty again that sucks.

Amazing sleep by minipop!!!! So glad you got a really good sleep.

Hope the teething is easing off tea.

Have a good day everyone.

MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 13:45

susieloo very impressed that you managed to reply to us all in your post Smile there is hope for me then re weight loss! Although I have just been shopping and stocked up on sweet stuff Blush

Really tired today so not going to breast feeding group, going to sleep instead!

Goatbongosanonymous · 11/10/2012 17:58

Mrsn babies are almost required! Absolutely more than welcome.

Loislane78 · 11/10/2012 20:49

Defo got to check out this Ewan app Grin

Had to put LO to bed at 6.30 today after a feed as she's been upset the last couple of nights from over-tiredness. Odd as she's been napping pretty well during the day. Takes her at least an hour to go off by herself which i'm trying to do in the evenings (with me popping in and out a lot!) but even still it almost feels like it's too early. What is everyone else's 8 wk old doing? Last night she went 6-1am between feeds, then 2.30, 4 and 7.

Guess I can't complain. Maybe I've got the timings wrong. Would prefer her to feed at 10pm but she didn't wake up!

Hope you a get some zzzz's :(. I'm turning in. Don't get to chat to DP much in the evenings but cream crackered by this time usually!

Loislane78 · 11/10/2012 20:50
  • hope you all get some zzzz's :). Stoopid phone!
MrsNPattz · 11/10/2012 21:22

goat thank you - one more question, my little boy will be 4 months when I do the course, is that ok or is it more for newer mums? Cheers Smile

Not a good day here, he has hardly slept and won't settle at all. I don't know what's wrong with him but I am dreading tonight Sad managed a nap when hubby got home, but just feeling really fed up and useless, and tearful because of it.

Goatbongosanonymous · 11/10/2012 21:49

mrsn not too old, in fact everyone else on my course had 3-4 month olds, Kid was the youngest by a long way! We had a great instructor who was willing to cover anything we wanted - the big topics for them were teething and weaning, very helpful actually. Mine was sleep! Grin
I really hope your LO settles - hang in there.
Sleepy dust sprinkled on everyone.

missingmymarbles · 11/10/2012 22:09

Evening!

Reading back it looked like I was Angry with Missmarbles about her snot, but I meant the blasted snot monster had got her poor little miteSad Anyway, she fell asleep for about 20 minutes before 7 but she woke when I put her into her sleeping bag. Had a bit of a weird one tonight as had some of the girls over for cuppa and cake. There was far too much going on for Missmarbles to settle, so I put her into her bed at 8.30 and came back downstairs to listen to her giggling over the monitor for half an hour Grin I went back up as she started to get a bit antsy and she took a tiny feed and went out like a light. Softy that I am, brought her back downstairs till I was sure that she was completely asleep and I have laid her back down. I hope she will sleep well tonight but I think I may be awake nonetheless because she is in her own room for the first time Sad Although not down to one night feed, she is just too big for the crib and when she spread her arms she was bashing the sides and waking herself upSad I think it was Susieloo said babyloo almost panicked in the moses basket, and I think Missmarbles was getting the same. She is 3 months today; time is already flying bySad

Evil you are doing really well. The early days are so, so hard. Funnily enough I was talking to my friend today whose kids are a bit older than mine, and we were saying just how painful bf is at the beginning. And nobody tells you. Most tell you that 'it doesn't hurt if you re doing it right', but in reality it knacks at the beginning, until the hormones from pregnancy die down, you and baby get accomplished at the latch, your supply gets established and regulated, etc. You are doing really well; expressing is blinking hard work and you are doing what you need to do, so don't feel badSmile

Tiredness is wicked MrsN. Hope we all get good sleeps tonight.

Susieloo · 11/10/2012 23:41

1st feed of the night here after bed at 7.30 ish so a definite improvement on the last two nights, not sure we will go through until 3 or 4 though, really hope we don't have the wanting to get up and play at half three till 5. It was me about the Moses basket marbles babyloo suddenly seemed to get claustrophobic in there.

Hope everyone having some sleepSmile

funchum8am · 11/10/2012 23:58

Hmmm babyfunch has decided to be a bit grizzly for the first time today. We went to the coffee morning as planned so I feel better about getting out and about when dh goes back to work. Afternoon was fine but this evening she has been crying for a feed then falling asleep on the breast, despite me tickling her etc to keep her awake. Then when I put her in her basket she wakes up, voms up all the milk, then cries to be fed again! I have just got her down again and she has been asleep for five mins so maybe now I can get an hour or so of sleep! We are off to a wedding tomorrow so will have to do some serious work with the concealer on my eye bags!

Good luck fighting the snot monster missingmymarbles, and I hope you feel better soon mrsn. It is very very hard caring for a baby and when you don't know why they are not happy it is the pits....hang in there...

Saritabean · 12/10/2012 02:13

Helloooo all!

I've missed this thread sooo much! Just been too tired to even keep up with reading, let alone posting, and as DD (periwinkle!) is lots more efficient, feeds have become lots shorter. But i hadn't realised how much I'd missed it til T&H PM'd me... :) Thank you!!

I feel like a newbie again! . Sooo many new names of mummies/babies. Hope you're all having a good night. We're on feed 2... First was at 11 but that was only one-sided before she fell asleep and wouldn't have any more, so knew it wouldn't last...!

Miss periwinkle is now nearly 7.5 months old actual, 5months corrected (having been born at 29+ weeks) I cannot believe how time is flying [shocked] she still only weighs 9lb 7oz, but is otherwise developing well and is still following her below the chart curve!!! We've also started weaning which is an adventure!

Have loads more to report, but feed over and need to go back to sleep... Will try and post at next briefly again! Hang in there new mummies, it does get easier and more manageable somehow... :o

MrsNPattz · 12/10/2012 02:20

goat really appreciate your help, I will book it now so thank you!

Nice to 'meet' you sarita

Well little man finally went to sleep, and we got from 10:30 - 2! So feeling a bit better now I have had some sleep - thanks for your support.

You are right about the loneliness at night, and that's why I love this thread too Smile

missingmymarbles · 12/10/2012 02:38

Hellooooo!
First feed Grin A little worried though as not sure how long Missmarbles had been awake before I got to her, despite having the monitor right next to my ear. When she was in our room, she barely had time to open her eyes before I was feeding her, but this time she had definitely shouted Confused I have a fear she was awake ages wondering where I was Sad Now I don't want to put her back to bed or go back to bed myself. Just want to sit here with her on my chest, negating the so far good night.

HeffalumpsAndGoldenWoozles · 12/10/2012 03:17

Hi sarita nice to meet you :)

We're downstairs tonight :( I went up early as usual about half 9ish for a nap, DH brought baby lump up at half 11 for her feed and she just wouldn't settle so we came down in case she woke DD1 whose room is right next to ours. She then fell asleep almost instantly in her swingy chair so DH & I had a rare bit of time to chat & cuddle on the sofa minus any babies or toddlers jumping on us. He went to bed about midnight but as baby lump was asleep I thought I may as well just kip on the sofa rather than move her, so have had a couple of hours and now just finished a feed & wondering do we go up now or just stay here.

I think his thread is keeping me sane, when DD1 was little & up all night we didn't have any Internet so I was limited for what I could do & it was so lonely, I'm so glad I've got you all for company this time it really helps make the long nights more bearable :)

IShallCallYouSquishy · 12/10/2012 03:22

I need match sticks! I'm sat in chair in DDs room and can barely keep my eyes open.
I'm getting to breaking point with this sudden need for night feeds. I look back iat smug old "my baby was sttn 11 hours at 9 weeks" me and want to cry Sad I don't know why she's got like this but I'm finding it harder and harder as the days go on

Susieloo · 12/10/2012 03:28

Helllooooo saritaGrin nice to see you

2nd feed of the night and so far no sign of the need to get up, he's asleep on my shoulder at the moment though, be great if we make it through to 7, can't see it happening though!!
