( distributes tea biscuits and nursing pillows allround....)

How do yo stay awake at night feeding??? Am struGgling to stay awake and have a sore thumb from playing solitaire on the iphone...alternates with reading muMsnet, daily mail and facebook....

What else is easy reading websites, games apps that dont require any brainpower that I cana entertain myself with? Any tips how to stay awake? Am seriously tired here!

Have cosleept with my dc's from approx 8-10 weeks, which makes night feeds easier, but I have weeks to go until then and wont dare to bedshare yet as older dc's still turn up in qour bed at night....

Sarita any success clearing the blocked duct yet? Sounds very ouchy. Really hope you avoid the dreaded mastitis.

mummypig your blueberry yoghurt covered raisins sound yum! Grin

imissminipop yup, got the gaviscon yesterday, but it's proving a total pain in the arse to give it to him, as he has to have it after his feed mixed with some cooled boiled water. At least he's not being too difficult about drinking water from the bottle, but it is such a faff, and I'm having to wash and sterilise at least twice as many bottles as usual - this isn't what I signed up for!!! I also can't give it after every feed as he can only have 6 doses a day, so still trying to figure out when to give it. I think he has been less sick when he's had it though, so I'll stick at it.

I went to the sling library this morning, where DS treated me to a poosplosion which went all up his back! Lovely. Thank heavens for vanish is all I say Wink

DS was a nightmare last night, waking every 2 hours or less with screaming. At 6:30 I decided I'd had enough and took him in to DH, so at least I got another hour or so of good sleep after that. I feel like I don't sleep that deeply when he's next to me (in his crib). Roll on Friday - I'm staying at my parents' who've said they'll give him a bottle so I can get a bit more sleep Grin

Evening everyone!

Thank you for all your supportive comments re: blocked duct- finally cleared at about 2pm - woo hoo!! Was soooo painful :( It seems so weird to be so blocked for 6-7 feeds, then suddenly poured and nearly drowned periwinkle Wink!! Such an immediate relief when it cleared although I think I've bruised myself by massaging my boob so hard Confused!

I hope baby Tea has a better night for you mummy tea!

And minipop doesn't sound dissimilar to periwinkle on the wind and wiggle front...! I think it is probably partly reflux, but also partly just normal baby, possibly worse for premmies :( I hope you have a better night of it. I think you're doing amazingly to continue expressing... I would have given up ages ago :o

See you all later Wink

MorningSmile

How was everyone's night? The hv came yesterday and weighed the baby and he is now 10lb 10 which is up from 9lb about ten days ago!! She assured me that you can't over feed a breast fed baby but I am a bit alarmed at how much he's put on, I knew he was eating well and could feel how heavy he was getting but I can't help be a bit worried that if he carries on he's going to be obeseSadMy mum also insists that current thinking is wrong and you can over feed a bf baby, I've got no chance of trying to limit how much he has at each feed having demand fed for three weeks.

The baby was really over tired after the hv had been and so we came up to bed at nine ish and he was up four times I think, I do feel guilty when he wakes up and is clearly wide awake lying in his basket, I presume it would be a bad idea to take him downstairs for a couple of hours in case it starts a habit of mornings starting at 4am!!

Babylon1 · 01/08/2012 09:00

Ooh I've had a lovely catch up Grin

No mastitis here Wink all sorted!! I haven't tried hand pumping actually, never thought of that!!

Hope everyone is ok Smile

I'm feeling very smug, checkout the time of this post - all 3 DCs still sound asleep so I'm getting a lovely lie in! DH gone off to work already and he went so quietly I never heard him go!!!Blush

Babylon1 · 01/08/2012 09:04

Oh and SusieLoo, please don't worry - you really cannot overfeed a bf baby. Your ds sounds very similar to mine with the weight gain and everything. I know when I saw HV first few times I was like Shock < that face, at how much he'd gained, but then I looked at his centile curve and he's following the 91st centile perfectly.

I daresay you'll find he will start snacking through the day, but have a big feed in the morning and then cluster feed in the evening before waking just once for a top up through the night Smile

HTH Smile

ImissMiniPop · 01/08/2012 10:07

Susieloo Minipop is up from 7.1lb to 7.9lb in a week, so try not to worry (and he is bottle fed, so I really do worry about overfeeding).

MiniPop had a bad night, hardly slept and spent three hours straining Shock, took him to doctors this morning and it looks like he needs new reflux medication. Poor mite :(

Susieloo · 01/08/2012 13:37

Thank you babylon and minipop the baby is also on the 91st centile so it's good to know he's not alone, really hope the new meds work minipop it's horrible when they seem to be in pain.

It's bath and first bottle of expressed milk in our house this evening so there may well be tears before bedtimeSmile

Susieloo · 01/08/2012 13:55

And forgot to ask am I meant to warm breast milk? Or does it stay at room temperature?

ImissMiniPop · 01/08/2012 14:00

Susieloo I hand express into a sterile container and then pop it into the fridge until it's needed, then warm it slightly. :)

Susieloo · 01/08/2012 17:58

Thank you minipop he's just gone for a walk with dp up to his nannys house after a mammoth feed but with a bottle of milk just in case he needs it, I did shed a little tear after I waved them off, he'll only be gone for an hour!!

Saritabean · 01/08/2012 22:59

Evening all! First feed of the night and managed to doze for an hour before this feed- yey!

Hope we're in for a good one :)

ImissMiniPop · 02/08/2012 00:18

Hey! I also managed an hour of sleep before first feed, also hoping for a good night Sarita :)

TeaandHobnobs · 02/08/2012 00:37

I need matchsticks... Zzzz

Susieloo · 02/08/2012 00:55

Me tooSmile

ImissMiniPop · 02/08/2012 01:33

Could I have matchsticks over here too, preferably the mint chocolate ones please :o

Saritabean · 02/08/2012 03:56

He he he minipopsmum!! Mmmm mint chic matchsticks!!!

Wow- first feed- 5hr gap, 4hours sleep in one go- feels lovely :o but could stil do with some choccie matchsticks!!! Wink

Susieloo · 02/08/2012 04:04

I love matchsticks! And the chocolate orange ones!!

3 hours between feeds seems like we are moving in the right direction.

Babylon1 · 02/08/2012 05:32

Great to read everyone seems to be doing really well and our DCs all seem to be settling to some kind of routine GrinGrin

I'm up feeding ds now, but it's his first wake up since 10pm and last feed last night Grin. If I can stretch him another half hour, that's a full night for me!!!

Hope everyone has a great day today GrinGrin

ImissMiniPop · 02/08/2012 09:11

Arrrg, Minipop was doing so well until I woke up at 4am, checked on him (he was sound asleep) moved a blanket and woke him up - big mistake... Confused

He cried, fed, had a poonami, was sick and refused to go to sleep. Managed to get him back in his bed at 6:30 - for 30 minutes before he woke up crying again, fed him again and managed to get him down just before 8am.

YAWN

TeaandHobnobs · 02/08/2012 09:23

Oh dear IMissminipop, that does NOT sound like fun!

DS seems to be pretty consistent now on his 12ish to 3ish sleep, but he just doesn't seem able to do another 3 hour sleep after that.

The gaviscon doesn't seem to be working; in fact, it seems to be making him more sick Sad So I'll have to go back to the docs next week to try something else.

Saritabean · 02/08/2012 15:02

Wow- really does sound like the babies are getting there... Periwinkle here fed at 11, 3.45 and now 7.45: amazing! :o

ImissMiniPop · 02/08/2012 18:53

Minipop hasn't slept properly since 4:30am, as soon as you put in him in his cot he screams the house down :( had to put him in the sling and cart him around since 1pm, and now he's in his recliner. Think it's really bad trapped wind, and reflux, god knows what tonight is going ot be like Confused

Susieloo · 02/08/2012 19:50

That's a really hard day for you minipopSadhopefully if he's been unsettled all day he might have a good night tonight.

Babylon1 · 02/08/2012 21:52

Fingers crossed for a peaceful night for you imissminipop

DS not very settled tonight either Sad cluster feeding since 6pm. Squawks his head off every time I put him down and generally very fidgety and restless Sad

Susieloo · 03/08/2012 01:09

I had a cluster feeder here too babylon between 7 and nine ish and then he finally went, he was getting himself in such a state when he pulled away from my boob and then tried to go back on, I should have put scratch mitts on him because my poor chest is covered in scratches, he does seemed to have slept from 9 until now which he hasn't done since the first week he was born, another four hours would be amazing bit wishful thinking I think.

Hope you got some rest minipop
