Hey ladies, here's a shiny new thread for us to discuss, query, whinge about and rejoice our high-need bubs!

Pretty bad night last night, bleeding exhausted. Can see why so many of you co-sleep. We haven't gone down that route, but it's never looked so attractive...

Gawd, grizzly DS. Poor tooths. Hope you have had a decent night!

:(

LittleWaveyLines · 05/03/2012 17:50

Do you use coconut oil?

buttonmoon78 · 05/03/2012 18:04

tbh I'm deeply suspicious of anything like that in case he's allergic to that too Sad

LittleWaveyLines · 05/03/2012 18:55

Ah... fair point! Does the eurax work well? I was sold some recently by a pharmacist for urticaria - but it didn't work really. Oats in a muslin did though :)

buttonmoon78 · 05/03/2012 18:59

I wouldn't have thought it'd be strong enough to deal with urticaria but it does take some of the itch out of eczema. As a sufferer of both, I can def say that the itch of urticaria is more intense than eczema!

LittleWaveyLines · 05/03/2012 19:17

Poor boy

buttonmoon78 · 05/03/2012 22:45

I didn't realise how dependent we were on antihistamines until now Blush. He's been up 3 times already.

TitaniaP · 06/03/2012 04:07

Oh poor button, that's awful. Poor baby button too. Hope you get some sleep at least.

JeewizzJen · 06/03/2012 08:30

Crap night. For the last week, bar one night, DS has been wide awake for an hour or more around 2-3 ish. I've been kinda 'forgiving' it as other parts have been lots better, but in truth it's driving me nuts!! He spends the time rolling around his cot, getting annoyed that he can't crawl and no one will play with him. Then he starts poking me in the face or shouting, or both. Argh! Just SLEEP child!!

JeewizzJen · 06/03/2012 08:32

Blimey Titania, you were up at silly hour too I see! Bleurgh. Sad

To top it off his nappy split open this morning and the gel crystals inside went everywhere. Harumph!

QueenKong · 06/03/2012 08:45

Hey folks, feeling a bit better here. DS has weirdly stopped feeding to sleep (think its his cold) and has instead preferred to be spooned and sang off to sleep. It's so sweet. And last night I got 2 whole, uninterrupted hours downstairs. Which I wasted watching Embarrassing Bodies [yack].

Had a weird day yesterday. DH's sister visited, which was lovely but she was very down as she is struggling with her 2 children (both ASD, quite severe). Lots of comments like 'i just dont know what their future will be' and 'i just want to hear them say mum.' I didnt know what to say and felt terrible for her. It must be so hard. I felt really blue when she left and it made me pray that DS is healthy and developing ok. Not sure why I'm telling you this, it just had quite an effect on me, sorry.

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 09:58

Why wouldn't you tell us QK? I know this thread began as a HN baby thread but (I don't know about the rest of you) it feels like we've broadened our remit a bit! I feel more comfortable saying a lot of things on here than I do in RL. That sort of thing is bound to have an effect and make you worry Sad

Well, after a hellish first part of the night, ds slept like the fabled baby for the rest Hmm. And woke up with lovely (for him) skin Hmm Hmm. I know he's doing it on purpose so tomorrow I'll take him for his tests and he'll make me look like a liar Grin

And although some of you did tell me so, please don't say you did. My lovely lovely Bee is going back to the shop tomorrow. One of the wheels has developed a shopping trolley like bearing rattle. It's only a week or so old so I'm not going to accept it. I so wanted everyone to be proved wrong as it has everything I want but it's going to wind me up if it does that every other week. So it looks like I'm back to the drawing board. I might as well just get the P&T I think. My only thing is that it doesn't face me but you obvioucly (as has been ably proved by Bugaboo) can't have everything. I'm a bit Sad though. I like having ds facing me Sad. He on the other hand will probably be delighted to be facing the world instead Angry

QueenKong · 06/03/2012 10:12

Argh, how annoying re the Bee. The wheel fell off my M&P sola twice (think I've already told you this) and I got so annoyed with the women in the shop. They sent it away for three weeks and I had a crappy loan buggy that kept tipping backwards but fobbed me off everytime I chased it up. I don't think they realised how important it is to actually be able to get out and about with a HN baby! In the end I wheeled in the big guns (DH) who caused a fuss in the shop, waving consumer rights stuff he had printed off the net until they have us a brand new one. He's good at that sort of stuff but I hate confrontation and hid outside.Blush I can loan him out if you need button, just let me know!Wink

I agree that this quiche has become a cathartic place to rant about all sorts of stuff. I feel I can talk to you guys (strangers online) about stuff that I wouldn't dream of mentioning to family/friends. Come 'ere you ((((((group quiche hug))))))

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 10:16

Awww. I feel like that too - like there's less judgement somehow!

I am Wonder Woman when it comes to consumer rights. I simply beat them down by refusing to accept anything they're saying! I will return victorious! Lady is checking the stock levels on the P&T as we speak Smile

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 10:18

Tis reserved. Now I just need to get all the boxes back together and paperwork etc!

I will be sad not to have him facing me, but I think he'll love it as he's such a nosy beast!

SpannerPants · 06/03/2012 15:59

Oh no Button - I had the same issue with mine! I was really upset when I sent it back :( I'm thinking about getting an iCandy strawberry but I can't afford it until I'm back at work.

Is there another growth spurt/developmental leap around 33 weeks? DS has fed almost hourly overnight since Friday and I'm shattered! This does not bode well for going back to work in a month :(

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 16:06

I've been stewing all day over it. I'm thinking that if I'm going to have to go for forward facing then perhaps it's not worth spending all that mmoney? I don't really need a P&T. Maybe I'd be better off goin for a Maclaren Techno XT or something? I used to hate Maclaren's but the one that I've just been sent as the replacement for the broken one is really good. Much better than the aging one that was broken Grin And it'd save nearly £200! Shock

SpannerPants · 06/03/2012 17:08

I have a baby jogger city mini which is great (apart from forward facing) - so easy to fold, DS is comfy in it and it has a massive hood so it's protected from wind/rain/sun. He hates being forward facing so I'm hoping as he gets older and less "high needs" (here's hoping!) he'll enjoy it more. It was £220 new but sometimes they have offers on in boots and it's got £50 off. I think the Techno is about the same cost as the BJCM.

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 17:48

Mmm. Food for thought. I will see what they do tomorrow. That would be about the same cost. DS was in the Maclaren Triumph all day and he's been rather enjoying facing the world so I think it's just me that minds!

JeewizzJen · 06/03/2012 17:52

DS will finally go in the pushchair now he's forward facing, its been a total revelation!

Spanner have you actually jogged with yours? I'm thinking of getting something I can jog with...

buttonmoon78 · 06/03/2012 20:07

Peace reigneth Shock

DS1 & 2 asleep in bed, DDs watching Bugsy Malone again on the telly. I am hoped up in here MNing and drinking a glass or three of a good white and eating a whole pack of proscuitto to myself [fat jabber emoticon]. DH is back tomorrow and although I'm really looking forward to having him home, it causes stress too as he forgets that life continues without him and expects us to have been wearing the willow for him! So am enjoying my last night of 'freedom' before he shows up again Grin

Am also drinking to anaesthetise my stress about tomorrow's tests. I've got butterflies like before an exam or interview. Am really nervous - not that they might find nothing - I hope that's the case, but that they might discover something I've not yet tried that would really have a huge impact on us. It's bloody terrifying!

SpannerPants · 06/03/2012 20:45

no JeewhizJen - it actually says on the box that it's not suitable for jogging! One of my friends got this recently which she said is good for jogging with though.

Button - it's not just me that eats packs of proscuitto at a time then! Good luck for the allergy tests tomorrow, hope they go as well as possible.

tickleme63 · 06/03/2012 20:55

Button Hope things go okay tomorrow.
