Just a teensy weensy little question about periods... *slightly nervous giggle*

I can't believe I'm writing this post as a second timer, the shame!

Last time I expressed exclusively I only got just enough milk and my periods returned straight away... this time I'm doing the same but getting enough to feed 3/4 babies! I thought my periods would come back when I stopped doing an overnight pump, and everyone I know tells me that they only didn't get periods whilst their baby was having night feeds...

The slight worry is that I had a really light on and offy period - I'm quite sure it wasn't lochia as that turned lovely and brown (yuck!) and disappeared after two weeks, two weeks later I had a few days of bright red blood... and then nothing since and we were sort of naughty one time... (she's only 12 weeks old though..)

I hope MTS doesn't read this cos she'll laugh, I hope DH doesn't read this cos he'll laugh and then he'll scold me!!

I don't want to over-react and tests cost too much...

hmmm tempting... but i'd prefer a newborn! lol

how poorly is she? is it contagious?

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 06/01/2006 21:46

chesty/throaty thing with gunky swollen eyes - on antibiotics and nasal drops but she has done nothing but sleep for 2 days (day and night) and she sleeps 12 hours at night anyway!

starlover · 06/01/2006 21:51

aww bless her still, better to have sleepy baby than awake screaming baby!!!

CaptainDippy · 06/01/2006 22:28

I agree starlover - thinking of you fastasleep - do a test - you don't have to go to that Superdrug - Keep us posted!!

longwaytogo · 06/01/2006 22:35

I'm sitting here smiling as this was me about 28 months ago when we were naughty just once. dd was 5 months old, can't believe that we now have a nearly 3 yr old and 20month old. Only one sure way to find out and thats to go buy the test.

mummytosteven · 06/01/2006 22:35

Home and Bargain do ridiculously cheap tests - about £1/£1.50. Doesn't sound that likely you'ld be PG - periods can be very erratic when they restart after bfing, but best to test so you know where you are.

Hercules - FA expresses this much as her DD refused completely to latch on, so FA expresses all her milk.

suzi2 · 06/01/2006 22:46

I took a test yesterday because I would have sworn I was pregnant from a very, very slight naughty moment. Would have been close to immaculate. I'm not anyway.

From what I read yesterday, periods can be weird when they return (mine haven't yet) as can general discharge . Take a test and put your mind at rest.

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 09:28

Thanks... I'm getting DH to go to that Superdrug when he next goes out thanks to MTS jumps on her and batters her with a cushion we had a tummy bug lol so haven't had chance to check yet!

If I am DH says he's either going to divorce me or force me to work in a bar or something in the evenings (we would be that poor!)

sorry, sorry, sorry you see I just assumed I was feeling so crap because of all the hassle with my friend.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 08/01/2006 12:44

LOL FA.... come on already sweetie - get that test NOW! We need to KNOW!

You would be the first "october" mum to be pg again!

Rhubarb · 08/01/2006 12:45

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Safe sex anyone?
At least you're 'getting it' anyway!

mummytosteven · 08/01/2006 12:45

hope you are feeling better now FA. you could always put that t-shirt you were wearing on thursday to good use to raise some money

PiccadillyCircus · 08/01/2006 12:49

When I was bf DS, it was a month after he stopped breastfeeding at all that my periods returned. He didn't feed in the night at all for months and I had no periods.

So you may well not be pregnant.

Rhubarb · 08/01/2006 12:51

I never had a period until I stopped breastfeeding. So you're probably not.

Cam · 08/01/2006 12:59

With both my dd's my periods returned 4 weeks after giving birth even though I was exclusively b/feeding both times. So it doesn't always apply.

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:18

MTS I was going to be all nice and say no need to apologise as it really wasn't your fault... but after the t-shirt comment I don't think I'll bother!

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! i am not worthy! i am not worthy! still cringeing at the thought of you trying to express whilst dehydrated

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:21

I'm a bit more worried than I would be because my periods came back instantly last time but nothing this time... I wouldn't have thought they'd do different things for each baby, then again Aunt Flo is just confusing and mean!

Can't believe most of you are laughing at me -I mean.... bar work... eugh! (That would mean the dreaded formula too!)

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:24

PMSL MTS shurrup. I'm fine, I just drank 2 litres of Sprite I feel myself now!

mummytosteven · 08/01/2006 15:25

I didn't realise that bar work was your ultimate nightmare FA, or that DH intended you to start immediately! Working in a pub was definitely one of my best holiday jobs - but it was a nice quiet city centre pub, not much on at the evening, one idiot that unzipped my top (thank god I had a proper top on under!) and one death threat, but fine apart from that. Hmmmmm I'm really not selling this as a job am I

I wouldn't be surprised if your periods did come back differently because you must have loads of ?prolactin to be producing so much milk? You are producing loads more than with DS aren't you?

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 15:28

Yes loads and loads more milk, and that's what I'm clinging to... DH forgot to buy the damn test! Bar work sounds ok really, but I'd be pretty tired after lookng after 3 under 3 all day! (Not happening not happening not even a smidgen pregnant I'm not not not)

CaptainDippy · 08/01/2006 18:45

fastasleep · 08/01/2006 23:12

You guys'll have to wait till Tuesday morning unless I pee tomorrow morning and put it in the fridge (ew!!) until DH gets home... would you like me to that huh?

EW!
