How many books do you read in a year?

I saw someone on fb post at new year that their resolution was to read 12 books this year which got me wondering how many I get through a year. I have started writing them down out of curiosity, to see.
I'm guessing it'll be around 60 or so....probably because I don't have kids yet so I have much more time on my hands 😄
I'm curious to know how much my fellow book lovers read!

I include the audio books I listen to on my commute so I think I'll make 100 books this year

AquariusAquarius · 13/02/2024 07:55

I try for 2 a month plus an audible

AzureBlue99 · 13/02/2024 07:55

I do the GoodReads challenge. Last year it was 46. This year my goal is 52. I am already 11 towards that target. Lockdown year 2020, I read 63, but those were exceptional times!

(3 kids)

I listen through audible books, and average 3 a week. I listen while knitting and doing housework.

Most books are around 10-15 hours long, although about 5 a year can be 40-50 hours long.

So about 150 books a year.

I read a mix of books, but for example last week had to travel 6.5 hours by train each way, and limited hotel TV. So easily read 1 book and started another.

I'm on my 6th this year. But, I'm writing one so it's either read or write. I'm stressed about my reading pile which has gotten bigger and bigger.

Also on Goodreads which is really good, currently on 21 this year so far. I go through fazes were I read a lot, also read a lot on my local library app while having my daughter and toddler grandson live with me. The minute there in bed is my time to read

I read about 12 books a year.

When I do have time to read for a whole day, I can only do 6 hours or so, as it’s too hard on my eyes. Somehow it’s different from watching TV, which I could do all day, eye-wise.

CadyEastman · 01/04/2024 13:14

Around 20 a year.

daffodilandtulip · 01/04/2024 13:41

About two or so a month so I guess 20-30 a year.
But I was thinking about this earlier, DD goes to uni in Sept which will save me around 20 hours a week on current driving around after her ... think of all the books then!!

cunoyerjudowel · 11/04/2025 17:52

Around 30 maybe more - love having one on the go

TheMainCharacter · 11/04/2025 22:27

This year I’ve been making a list and have finished 43 so far 😁 I decided last year to do more of what makes me happy and I’m definitely reading more. Obviously my kids are another year older now too which helps as they’re a bit more independent.

BG2015 · 31/05/2025 15:58

I read between 50-60!
im retiring in July so I expect this number to go up!

Middlemarch123 · 07/06/2025 20:00

Including audio books, average four a week.
Always have a paperback on the go, a Kindle for bedtime, and an Audible.

hazelowens · 14/06/2025 21:45

In 2023 I read 130 books, my mental health was at its best and I was living my best life. Last year I read 90. I had been in hospital in and out for about 6 months and I had no concentration at all. This year I am aiming for 100, I have read 42 so far.
